Bank contract job is not a good starting point for some one that is about to finish an M.Sc degree. With your M.Sc more doors in the academics Polytechnics, Monotechnics, Research institute and èven university as an Ass lecturer will be open to you. Please dont take contract bank job. Concentrates on your program, gets a PhD grade and blow. |

nurez305: Try not to get too frustrated in life because u are jobless. I once worked as a contract staff in a bank, but now I am jobless. What I wrote is in connection with him leaving his master program for a contract job in a bank, where you cannot dream of been promoted. Bros I stop here and allow you to make your choice. If you risk your Msc for that job,i bet you will regret it. Experience is the great teacher 1 Like |

linusbnn:I have been following your post and I must confess we share same view. Many of the guys that advice him to take up the job don't know what it means to be a contract staff in bank. Being a victim just like you,I can never advice my dog to take up such offer, I don't even encourage anyone that comes to me for advice on such let alone someone that's almost through with msc. The fear of the unknown sometimes leads us to such offer which mostly leads to regret later in life. @OP Please go ahead with your Msc as I'm sure something better awaits you thereafter. No ex/present contract staff would ever advice you to abandon your Msc to become a slave to those that don't have what you have presently.(you will be surprised your supervisor/boss cannot even stand you academically) I still regret wasting my good youthful life in the bank even though I left the job for my Msc. 1 Like |

Let me advise you if you would listen. I had a similar challenge last year when I was about to finish my master's degree and also got a contract job in a bank as well. what I did was to meet my HOP and CO and informed them of the situation. I also spoke with my project supervisor and explained to him prayerfully. I agreed to be meeting with my supervisor during weekends and was always forwarding my project to his email. The Masters programme is far important than the bank job. you will regret it if you abandon the masters for the bank job. once you start the bank job, you may never have the opportunity to go for your masters ever again. All you need is wisdom and God's help. I believe you can run the two programmes together. Pray and take the bank Job and also find a way round to complete your masters. You won't lose anything, only believe. |

Never Quit M.sc cuz of a contract job in d bank. Perhaps, d two can go together, all u need to do is to change ur programme mode to part time which will only extend ur years by 1. But I Guess Dis Question Is Nt In D Real Sense, I Mean Is Nt Happening Real. |

well I spent a better part of the last quarter of 2015 here educating people on bank work, especially contract. that was a time I recently called it quit. most guys advicing you to take up the job have no idea what it means to take up such an offer . from the many comments from ex and present bankers, I want to add that its a step in the wrong direction to take up that offer. it may be the easy way out on the short run, but on the long run what the job will do to your innocent and young mind, you may never recover from it. finish your masters and pursue a career, not some kind of contract job. although you may have to endure hunger for a while , but it is a necessary sacrifice. teaching in a private school earning 20k is better than working In a bank as a CS. you doubt me? give it a shot, after 4years come back and quote this comment. |

dazzle101: I dey tell you. So many people don't know what it entails working in a bank. I have experience in banking (as a full staff) and I have my MSc which I was rounding off when I got the job. For my final exam, I had to take a drastic step which could have resulted in me losing the job as they were proving stubborn in giving me 5 days off. But I didn't care at that point because I know I had tried for my employers, working 7 to 9 most days, and working most weekends too. It was time to think of me. 1 Like |

This was my story some years ago, I chose the job and well after 2 years on as contract I became a full staff. Now I have saved up enough to go back to school for a masters degree and its now in a new field that I have taken interest in. My very good friend and course mate then who we were doing the masters together went on to finish but today he calls me always to ask if there is any opening in the bank even as contract staff. The Ideal choice would have been the masters but our situation in this country is perculiar. Its always survival first. My advise is get the job and since u r almost through with ur degree u can let ur employers know at the branch level and they will work out a way for you to finish it. I had a lot of friends that did that. So u can have the two of them but if u have to choose one pls choose the job 2 Likes 1 Share |

Lolzzz. If he is desperate and needs the pay. He may key himself to the work and come back to finish his msc the next year. That's if the pay is good enough for him. |

He should take up the job and also try to finish his course work alongside. he has 3 months to finish so he shuld be able to manage. Na just to prepare for exams and go write it. The little job experience wuld do him good plus he doesnt have to do it forever. country tight jare so consider combining both. it is well. |

The masters is by far better that the distraction called a contract job, some pay very low, like 40 to 50k, its not worth it. he should keep on investing in himself because the competition is becoming harder. The recent layoff of workers only requires the best and most qualified so this is my take on this all the best bro!!! |

But they are doing u a huge fav keeping u employed, no? Bullocks not @ones detriment and personal development, I beg to differ. They simply don't care, all their own na get the job done. As if one is a drone/robot. Thanks for concurring @least it's clear I wasn't talking gibberish in my earlier post lol. |
