Ermm guys let's slow down a bit. I think it was Saved2serve that said here recently that "Soon, mails will hit your box. Read it with open mind but it is certain that 'some' (yes SOME) GTs will be recruited." Not that he is some oracle or something plus nobody knows how soon is soon in NLNG's world. But I say let's give them say, a month, so that by this time next month if we don't hear from them we shall come here and decide on a collective course of action. I so propose.
Re: 2013 Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Graduate Trainee by Nobody: 7:20pm On Jan 23, 2016
Well news I got earlier today is that they will get in touch very soon. Though she (Sauce) said she does not know what exactly they want to tell us. #WeWait!

#Shalom...

Dfavouredone:
Well, it is an understatement to say that we're all tired of this wait.

Grumbling on NL will little help us now. So what can we possibly do?

I have a suggestion.

We should all individually send a passive non-aggressive email to NLNG recruitment email: Recruitment.Online@nlng.com requesting for an update on the AC. I think if we do this collectively the huge volume of inquiries on thesame subject can make them atleast say something.

and she said it'll definitely be before a month's time. Let's wait and see like you've said. The part of definitely recruiting some GTs na him I no come know again. It was the initial plan. Then Oil prices still kept falling quite fast, they had to rethink that position and Lord knows if that will still be the case. #WeWait!

Good. I just hope the message won't just be that the recruitment process has been put on hold till Q3/Q4 and that's all. I really hope they free those they won't be needing and let the rest wait till whenever it is that they've decided whether Q3/Q4 or sooner or whenever. Just let them not keep over 500 people in limbo for nothing.

Exactly what I dread too. They really need to let us have the necessary closure we need. If they keep the over 600 that did the AC in limbo till that Q3/Q4, then i really have no words for them.

For those proposing that we should send them an avalanche of mails, well not a bad idea, but I can assure you that it won't change anything. Well, no harm in trying though. But I sincerely think it's best to give them a break. I know they will send us mails, which they should have done since, but they are still confused about the content of the mails. Na wa for Nlng management. They gave us just five minutes to do fact-finding, but to use 5months+ to make a decision on a recruitment process that has lasted for upward of 3years is like rocket science for them. Nigerians! I dey carry on with my life cos # I still believe in Jah's undeserved kindness

Exactly the point. If Nlng does anything short of this, then I would confirm that the Management ( not the HR, cos they get directives from the management) are not smart. Even when they eventually call me, I will not honour it, cos I can't work under such a management. The only condition that would make me accept an offer is if they accept my condition to make me a management staff so I can teach them how to run things ( don't under-rate GTs o)

My guy, the best approach in situations like this, is just to laugh or smile. Granted, Nlng has really made us to feel bad by keeping us in the dark, but laughter and smile have a way of calming us down. Let's not allow Nlng dictate our happiness. Let's just trust that God will make things right in his own time. What else can I say or do? Anyhow, # I still believe in Jah's undeserved kindness

Saw a picture of JFK international covered in a blizzard. Imagined if it were the NLNG management handling the airport, some here will say we should give them time to clear the snow out, at least it was God that sent the snow.
They have tried, to let us know we can't fly from the airport and even provided heating.

All I'm saying, do not excuse incompetence. Abhor it, even if/ when you get into the organization.

I assure you. In 24hours JFK will be all set and good to go. Heck they scooping the snow of the streets of the big apple as the snow falls. That's called rolling with the punches. When life gives you lemons, pack sugar full and relax with a lemonade.

My point: the dwindling price of gas doesn't mean that NLNG shouldn't prepare for the glory days ahead

True the port might be cleared of all snow but planes may not fly in blizzard conditions.
I think another way to tackle this is to ask ourselves if NLNG is losing money by not taking us up. They may be losing credibility but certainly not money. The lack of communication definitely sets a somewhat negative precedence but say they called all 140 successful candidates when the oil price was $45 (assuming oil price is the sole reason for not reaching out) and this $14 dollar dip to $31 occurred, would it be possible to still take up the 140? Crude oil prices may not strongly affect long term & midterm PSAs but I think it definitely affects spot prices which much of the market is moving towards & NLNG kinda participates in the Atlantic spot market.
But then again sound risk management & market projections would take care of this which is why I'm really starting to think this is looking less & less like a crude oil price issue & more of a Train 7 issue (feedgas & FID myt be d culprit).
Re: 2013 Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Graduate Trainee by dway4ward: 10:14am On Jan 24, 2016
A business that makes nothing but money is a poor business. The management should know better, that their image/brand/credibility is more important. Why else do they get paid if they did not plan properly? Identifying risks and providing mitigating solutions.

Your brand is like trust, you build it for ages and it can zap in a second. They truly have dented theirs, and killed the narrative of a truly Nigerian company excelling. They even do not understand their own competencies, Caring. No iota of its understanding.

The "false" success of their Bonny developmental campaign, which was the flagship of their caring initiative cannot be attributed to management, but solely to money, or probably the founding management. Similar as throwing money at a marriage papers over cracks, little pressure and all might break.

There really is no reason to excuse their incompetence.

I was just thinking about something. Why do many nigerian companies trust external consultants than their own internal human resource?

Specialisation and experience. No matter how good internal HR is they will not be as skilled/experienced as a consultant recruitment firm that has honed and fine tuned it's skill by recruiting for a variety of firms

Very True. When will their own people now have the opportunity to have such experience. Won't training and equipping them with the skill be better?

Too expensive to do. Imagine paying one HR staff Xmillion naira just to specialise in recruitment. Not cost effective as recruitment is not most businesses primary operations (except of course a HR firm). But there will be super specialised cryogenic engineers in say NLNG because they are needed in operations

You know how sometimes when you’re dealing with an issue in your life, you turn to friends and family for their opinions? Companies often need this, too, especially when making tough decisions. Often times, clients have a perspective on how to solve the problem they are facing but want to make sure that what they’re thinking is correct, or that they aren’t so close to the challenge that they’re missing the obvious answer. So, they turn to consultants to come in and provide their opinion.

But the fact is, this isn’t just any opinion. These consultants often work with many different companies and may have worked through this problem in the past with someone else, they can really provide a perspective based on what they’ve seen work before. And given this experience, they can often bring new and innovative ideas or possible challenges to the table that clients probably wouldn’t have been able to see on their own.

So invariably our one month countdown has begun. But I am still wondering what they will be telling us one month from now if it is not the results of the AC that they cannot tell us next week or should have even told us very much earlier. It is well o.

Won't surprise me if the recruitment is cancelled, postponed indefinitely or they keep mute forever.
After the SHL test, when they weren't sure of the AC details they @ least gave us the outcome and said further details will be communicated to us subsequently.
Can't understand why they can't do same now.

The joke will be on them. Will they be inferring no person amongst a generation of Nigerian graduates is good enough? The criteria in the advert made every graduate under 28 yrs as at October 2013 eligible, that is graduates as far back as 2007. The joke will truly be on them.

A major mistake I made in 2015 was that I didn't make permanent choices because of NLNG.
This year, I erased NLNG from my mind.
I have made some major plans for the year, and I have started implementing them.
If NLNG's success list comes out and my name happens to be on it, hmmmmm., then I might have to weigh the available choices again before deciding on what next to do.
Well, May God help us all in making the right decisions.
