[b]AMUNEKE STAYS AS U17 COACH, MANU FOR U20S

Emmanuel Amuneke has retained his post as coach of the Nigeria U17 team after he led the Golden Eaglets to win a fifth FIFA World Cup in Chile, while Manu Garba will keep his job as U20 coach.

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) 1st vice-president Seyi Akinwunmi announced this Wednesday night at a dinner in Abuja specially organised to welcome the victorious Eaglets on their return from Chile.

It was already reported that Amuneke will keep his job win or lose in the final of the U17 World Cup against Mali after the team’s fine run at Chile 2015.

Officials informed that the automatic promotion of coaches from the U17 to U20 teams has failed to yield the necessary results and so the need for these coaches to consolidate their experience at their various duty posts in the first instance.

The next U17 World Cup will be staged in India.

Well spoken. But it should take more than one academy. Ghana just like Nigeria are known to be blessed with some of the most technically gifted youths in Africa and d world at large. The difference btw the two country is that we Nigerian treat our Bleep-ups. We dnt tolerate mediocrity from our national teams, footballers and coaches. Any1 dat messes up we call for his head. Unlike u Ghanaians that are so blinded with blind patriotism.Eg u guys still feel u are d greatest footballing country in Africa when ur black stars have nt won anything for d past 33yrs!
In Nigeria we go to d stadium to boo any team or coach dat does nt perform.

If u believe ur GFA officials are responsible for d colapse of ur U17 structure can't u guys voice out? Take ur complains to d sports minister or president. Boo ur FA officials at match venues and tell me whether heads will nt role.
the only thing that I grab from this write. up is that GHANA has not worn a trophy for 33 years lol, what a country.

Well, There's no Nigerian U-13/U-15 thread... So this will do. #smiles. This is about Lateef Omidiji Jnr, a rising star prodigy, Younger brother to Sophia Omidiji (a Nigerian women U-20 International-- Super Falconets).

LATEEF OMIDIJI JR.: MEET THE 12-YEAR-OLD
PRODIGY THAT COULD SPARK A BIDDING WAR
BETWEEN NIGERIA AND THE US

The FC Dordrecht U-14 striker is a potential Super
Eagle but he is taking it one step at a time as he
hopes to emulate his heroes Yekini, Amokachi,
Okocha and Adepoju one day.

Lateef Omidiji Jr comes highly recommended. The
12-year-old US-born striker currently plays for the
Under-14 team of Netherlands second division side
Dordrecht FC.

However, he already has a place reserved for him in
the Nigeria U15 side based on first hand scouting by
its coach Danladi Nasidi.
Coach Nasidi traveled to the US to watch him play in
2014 and came out of the experience knowing he had something on his hands.

“He has speed, focus, the technique is so good, the
tactical approach is fine and he has the physical
ability. These things combine to make a good
footballer,” Nasidi told Goal.
“He’s a small boy and if he comes to play for Nigeria,
it will be good for Nigeria,” he declared.

Perhaps not every 12-year-old gets to be spoken so
highly of at his age. Lateef Jr. is currently leading scoring at his youth side despite being two years
younger than his teammates and opponents.
He told Goal that he would like to represent Nigeria
someday like his heroes Rasheed Yekini, Daniel
Amokachi, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha and Mutiu
Adepoju, players he grew up watching on home
video tapes with his father and grandfather.

“Although I have received interest from USA
Football,” Lateef Jr. told Goal, “my heart lies with my
fatherland and I'm hopeful of a call up from the
coach Nasidi-led U13s/U15s this year.”

Coach Nasidi is keenly following the development of
the prodigy, something he must stay alerted to as
there seems to be a lot of eyes.

“Many countries are interested in him, but since I’m
monitoring his activities, I want to make sure we get
hold of him before any other country,” Nasidi said.

His father also wants him to play for Nigeria despite
the interest from the United States and its alluring
potentials.

“I love my nation and I put that love of Nigeria in my
kids very early. I tell them you are not just American,
you're Nigerian-American,” Mr Omidiji told Goal.

Sophia, Lateef Jr.'s older sister was called up to the
Nigeria U20 Women's team in 2015.
"He has received an invite from the Nigerian U13/U15 coach who watched him play and was impressed with his eye for goal, speed and technique. He is also quite strong which is why he has always played 1-2 years up in age groups to get challenged,” he said.

For now, Lateef Jr. continues to develop his skills in
the Dutch system where he hopes to keep getting the kind of challenge that would make him a top player in future.

“Since coming to the Netherlands, they have turned
me into a more versatile player so coming from the
United States as a number 9, they've taught me how
to play 7, 8, 9 and 10 so I can play four positions,”
Lateef Jr. said.
“Right wing, left wing, center mid and striker, they call me speedy here in Holland because of my speed but what I'm most proud about is my technical ability.
“I am proud to be able to combine my natural
Nigerian style with what I learned in America and
what I'm now learning in the Netherlands.”

Dominic Solanke makes all your Olympics team lists when he has not declared interest in playing for us.

That is what I am pointing out. Those who declared interest, are in the pool of Nigerian players and are the first we should consider.

I really hope to see Another Amuneke and Kabiru Baleria combo for our U-17s. With Emeka Amadi as Goalie trainer.
Though it seems the NFF is yet to neither confirm nor deny this.

The NFF haven't even appointed a substantive coach for The Super Falcons, AFRICA'S REIGNING CHAMPS WHO GOT AWC QUALIFIERS COMING UP SOON AHEAD OF CAMEROUN 2016 CAF AWC.

I don't know what else to say about the NFF.

But our football shall surely survive and somehow, keep growing.

Manu Garba-led technical/coaching crew (Manu, Nduka Ugbade, Fancy Ewulu, and Co) for Nigeria's U-17 Golden Eaglets Class of 2017.

Emmanuel Amuneke-led technical/coaching crew (Amuneke, Kabiru Baleria, Emeka Amadi and Co) for Nigeria's U-20 Flying Eagles Class of 2017.

So happy with the prospects of this little adjustment which fits my earlier described Manu-Amuneke rotation. With The U-23s having a top age-grade coach like Samson Siasia, The Next Super Golden generation is gonna take even better shape.

Just hope the coaches @ the apex of our football in the Super Eagles hit the right notes. We have a new super golden generation to welcome in here.... Let's make the integration channels suitable and the atmosphere great to nurture them to elite stardom.

It has not been fully confirmed who will handle the U-17 Golden Eaglets. Seems like Manu Garba may not take the job. Reports still to emerge.

After Manu's initial rejection of the U-17 post, his turn-around decision, and then refusal by the NFF to take him back and were said to be considering other options like Maikaba of Wikki Tourists.... MANU IS FINALLY U-17 HEAD COACH AGAIN. HOPE THIS IS THE FINAL STRAW IN THIS DRAMA.......
.........................................................................................

HOW MANU GOT BACK U17 JOB AFTER INITIAL
REJECTION

Manu Garba had to fight tooth and nail to be named
new Nigeria U17 coach after he had first rejected the
post, it has been specially learnt.
It was gathered that Manu first told the NFF executive
committee he was not interested in dropping down
from the U20s to the Golden Eaglets.
But it seemed it was an impulsive response to his
demotion and after he spoke with some top NFF
officials, he later reach out to the NFF technical
committee chairman, Chris Green, to say he will now
take up the new role.

Green will tell Manu that his new position was “too
late” as the NFF have moved swiftly to get his
replacement.

Top NFF officials will later sound out Wikki Tourists
coach Audu Maikaba.
They would even tell him who will be his assistants.
However, Manu continued to press for his re-
instatement, calling on several top officials to
reconsider him for a post many have considered
belittling for a man who a few months ago was being
considered to succeed Stephen Keshi as Eagles
coach.
And so in another dramatic volte face, the NFF
announced Manu as head coach of the Golden
Eaglets late on Thursday.
Manu will now be assisted by Atuni Ali and Ernest
Teigpanyo.

The Golden Eaglets will in a few months begin the
qualification series for the 2017 African U17
Championship, which will be hosted by Madagascar.

The strategy we have been adopting that earned us d last 2 U17 titles is we have national U13 & U15 teams with a coaching crew. The U15s are promoted to U17 while d U13 are promoted to d U15. The next set of U17 have already been together since U13. However, the coaching crew will also give opportunities to other players hu were nt part of the U13/U15 set-up. Bt one thing is certain: even if the qualifiers are to start next week, we already have our team in place Manu or no Manu.

Now that Oliseh is gone barring the news on social media... I just hope d new coaching system of rotating our age grade coaches is not disrupted-cos if Sia.1 is called to handle d national team... I wonder what'll be of Manu n Amuneke. There might just be a shift...

Which ever way it later pans out. I hope we get right it this time around.

Abeg when is d u-17 camp opening?

EXCLUSIVE: MANU GARBA HIT ABA FOR U-17
SCREENING

.........................................................................................

Head coach of Nigeria U-17 team Manu Garba will be in Aba, Abia State Nigeria to conduct a three day screening exercise to scout for players for his next U-17 team.

Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal that the
soft spoken coach will also visit Nnewi in Anambra state on his scouting mission, a move a close source said is connected to his desire to do well with the U-17.

“He is in Aba already and that is his first point of call in the East as he has heard a lot about the talent base of the team” He told owngoalnigeria.com.

”Coach Manu will also visit Nnewi and Enugu all in his bid to search for players from all the nook and cranny of Nigeria, he will get to Lagos but that might be the last lap of his tour”.

The coach who led Nigeria to the U-17 trophy in
2013 is hoping to reenact the feat after failing with
the U-20 at the last World Youth Championship in
New Zealand that lead to his demotion to the U-17.
