congrats paschal, wish u the best, i ve been to some part of umuagwo and Ohaji areas and they have good soil over there, i think there are experts in that fish farming and piggery around here, i hope some day to pay a visit to ur farm. i would love to kn if there are places around Umuagwo extending to Ohaji who lease or rent land on yearly basis? it would be helpful to some nairalanders who would love to go into farming this year.

i am planting a hybrid specie of maize this season in about two hecters, the seeds are going to come from technism agritropic semences, i was told of its high yeilding capacity, and guess what i was told by this technism company agent, he said the maize is gonna mature within 2months... is there any one in the house who has use such hybrid seeds, either from tecnism or any other company, lets share experience so that i make the choices right.

I think u shud start a new thread on the above subject matter. That way, u will get the needed response on experiences.

By the way I also reside in owerri. I have completed structures for my poultry and fish farms. Hope to start very soon. there will also be a little vegetable farm on the side.

To confirm the certification simply go to the NIGERIAN EXPORT PROMOTION COUNCIL official website ---->

1. www.nepc.gov.ng
2. Then search by company name.
3. black seal limited.

I am currently setting up a base in Owerri to pursue my real estate and farming goals. The real estate projects is currently rolling while the farming project is still in its research phase. I am eyeing a move into Catfish/snail farming. I look forward to exchanging ideas with other farmers in O'town

Lands at Nekede, especially Poly Nekede is quite expensive to be considered for farming. I don't know about old nekede but I think having a farm in close proximity with Otamiri river can be an added advantage. I may be wrong though.

come to think of it, u are right. But all the lands close to the otamiri river is either highly unstable or too expensive for farming.
Re: Farmers In Owerri, Lets Meet Here And Share Experience by pamdaniel(m): 10:51am On Feb 03, 2016
nicee one sir, i think it would be expensive if you are buying, would it also be expensive if one is planing on leasing the land?

Yes. The reason is because the average selling price of land in a locality determines how much a lease would cost. Just think of rental properties with respect to locality. The cost of leasing a land in Nekede and Ohaji Egbema or Ngor Opkala can never be the same. Nekede "Poly" is no longer a rural area.

It tends to suffer from excessive leaching and erosion. Cos most of the lands are sloppy in nature. they slope towards the river. so heavy floods can cause crops to wash away into the river.

Farmtech, How are u doing?
I still hope to visit ur farm and learn from your wealth of experience. maybe when I go on leave........
