getting farm this time is a major problem. have spoken with more than ten farms but non hv eggs for sell. saw two that has but there prices are outrageous. small eggs 650, medium eggs 750, large 800, extra large 850.

though I hv a small farm I get eggs twice weekly but they only sell unsorted. and small are more in that one.

hv a meeting with a farm tomorrow, pray it will turn out in everyone favour.

I will venture into egg distribution only.
Why?
1. Working in my area of strength - Marketing
2. Limited risk
3. Higher turnover
4. Live in the city
5. Lesser working hours
6. One million is inadequate to run a Poultry farm while it will a fair amount when into egg distribution.
7. With one million i can make a technical investment with an existing farm that will give unlimited supply of fresh eggs
8. With one million i can brand my eggs
9. With one million, i can have a functional EGG HUB

I think the above reasons may make sense a little.

The prices you get from farms these days are something else but we must keep the fire burning.

Branding - packaging the eggs in transparent crates solely for supermarket and high end clients.
An egg HUB is when you are a mega distributor, you source from many farms around the country and sell to distributors who will not have the time and logistics to move around.

Getting a car is wonderful, but also LOCATE MORE farms to source your eggs from. Getting the egg is the most difficult in the business.

You can talk to investors in the plantain and banana segment.

I believe the current scarcity of eggs in the nation is saying something many Nigerians are not hearing.
Eggs come from only one source - chickens, it is not imported. In fact the government has given all protection to local investors to do their best.

The real thing is that the scarcity is saying that investing in poultry farm can never be a bad idea.
Eggs being the major produce of a poultry farm, your total produce is swallowed instantly.

Why should I voice this opinion?
All the farms I have visited recently are rejecting distributors!
Now, the sum total of all the volume of eggs produced weekly does not meet the existing demand, thus being successful with rearing birds is bankable.

I will make a suggestion - can't we, all of us who are aspiring to do great with egg distribution come together under an umbrella and float a mega poultry farm?
Or many of us can go technical with their investment - make a deal with a farm, inject some money into their farm and get a stipulated volume of egg supply once the birds starts laying.

N30,000 can start the business.
Yes, the cost of the crates is included.
You get about 50 units of crates for N5,000.00 at N100 each if its the plastic ones or the thick brown ones, 100 units will cost you about N2,000
When distributing, you transfer to your clients crates and go home with yours.

Note, the paper crates are easily damaged once fluid touches it. So if you have long term plans, go for the plastic and get the big size of it.
