Is the army controlling NAF operations? No. Court cases are full of allegations and counter allegations that no one has proved until judge passes judgement.

Nigeria builds regional helicopter maintenance hanger

English.news.cn 2016-01-12 02:34:08

LAGOS, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Nigerian government on Monday said it has completed a massive maintenance hanger for the country's military helicopters and others within the West African countries.

Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Abubakar Sadique, disclosed this in Abuja, the nation's capital, during a meeting with governor of central north state of Niger, Abubakar Sani Bello.

Sadique said the hanger, which is located in Minna, the capital of Niger State, is aimed to become a regional hub for helicopter maintenance in partnership with the state government and other critical stakeholders.

He said the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is doing its possible best to ensure that security is maintained and sustained in the state through the presence of personnel, facilities and formations.

"The NAF is looking at the possibility of enhancing our operations in Minna. We have a hanger that we have constructed already, which we hope that it will turn out to be a big maintenance center for helicopters not only for the NAF, but other air forces in West African that operate the same helicopters," he added.

"We have completed the hanger. The aim is to make that hanger a maintenance workshop for the helicopters. We are working toward actualizing that not only with other partners but also with the Niger state government as well the Americans," said the NAF chief.

On his part, Bello said his administration is looking to partner with the air force in the area of capacity building and security particularly around the Minna Air Port.

He also expressed hope that the establishment of the helicopter hanger maintenance center will not only strengthen the security of the state, but will as well boost its economy.

http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2016-01/12/c_134999210.htm

NAF is to maintain helicopters for the whole West African sub-region, and they have 30 years experience in Alpha Jet, L-39 Albateoss maintenance, F-7 jets are still almost brand new and cheap to maintain .

The Committee established that the radars were excessively priced as a complete set of such radars (comprising 6 radars including the Control Centre) goes for Six Million US Dollars ($6m) averagely. The Committee observed that the radars were delivered without the vital component of Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) that distinguishes between own and adversary aircraft, which has significantly degraded the operational capabilities of the NAF in the North East.

No IFF means they are effectivly useless for anything other than controlling civilian air-traffic grin grin grin

IFF does NOT stop detection of aircraft. NAF knows when her jets are airborne. IFF is replacable by pilot to base radio comm codes and passwords. How do you think air spaces are managed by countries whose air forces have no long range radar?

You clearly have no experience with maintenance:

Regrettably, in spite of these expenditures, the status of NAF fleet remained operationally appalling as only 3 Alpha-Jets, 2 C-130H and one each of Mi-24V and Mi-35P were serviceable as at 28 May 2015.

And from global security:

As of 2009, most of its fleets were grounded and its training institutions were constrained with shortages of technical skills such as instructors and institutional facilities. Lack of funding has been responsible for an inability to preserve aircraft regularly… Aircraft become due for Periodic Depot Maintenance (PDM) with time, and not by hours flown, because they are most of the time grounded for unserviceability.

The reasons for unserviceability are usually traceable to lack of spares occasioned by insufficient funding.

7 Aircraft out of over a hundred operational... only 7 grin grin grin grin

[size=13pt]

Unfortunately for you, your military tribunal report on NAF says clearly that the 7 aircraft fleet was as at May 28, 2015.....outdated !

NAF has released a new and more current report listing names of aircraft currently operational and fighting war, doing combat/recce missions as at October 28, 2015....most recent report from the new and current NAF chief of air staff, the final authority on Nigerian air force operations and capabilities.

" The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) said it had between July and October 2015 conducted a total of 1448 air sorties in support of the ongoing counterinsurgency operation in the northeast and also deployed over 300 ground troops from its special forces to fight along with the Army in the field. .

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Abubakar disclosed this on Wednesday.

The Air Force, he said, is doing everything possible to see how peace can be restored in the troubled areas as soon as possible.

According to him, the air component is fully integrated in the counterinsurgency operation plans and as such, NAF is using different aircrafts in its arsenal including F-7NI, Alpha Jet, C-130 AC, Agusta 109 LUH, Mi-35, Mi-24, Mi-17, Super Puma Helicopters, among others to carry out logistics support, reconnaissance and combat operations.

“Where ever the army is going in the battlefield, we give them the air support, provide intelligence and clear the ground for them to operate optimally he stated. "

36D3 radar was never meant to guide missies in NE, its meant to detect incoming aircraft and do airspace management in war zone, and Boko Haram has no air force. Does your Thutlwa fight war in Sudan? No, SANDF deployed your radar for basic air traffic control in Sudan.

1558 sorties in 4 months

Thats 1558 sorties in 120 days

Thats 12 sorties a day

or 1.7 sortie per day for each of your 7 operational aircraft.

You have proven nothing excepct your inability to work with numbers grin

Only 7 operational platforms in the NAF - confirmed grin grin grin
