That's like 6-7hrs. Pls dear that's too much. U don't av to wake ur baby up, u can. Just carry him and put d bottle or nipplee in his mouth. U ll be surprised that he ll eat. Burp him afterwards. From 4months u can now do sleep pattern (some pead even says 6months).

Babies differ. Some will be hungry and cry while some will continue sleeping (eg. My son when he was that age) Just try it and see 1st dear. Cheers

The sleeping all through the night is from like 11/12am till 6am..I usually mk sure he's very full before sleeping..after the formula I breast feed him before he sleeps totally..does that mean I should wake him to feed in between? Thanks much for the advice

Yes,it's fine EBF babies sometimes poop multiple times daily,BM is said to be a mild laxative,my son pooped after or during nursing it soon changed when we started cereal @ 6months.

First of all, I don't live in your so called nook and cranny so I have no idea of the price tag on formula at your end.

The names you've mentioned - enfamil, similac are not sold at my end.

It seems you are just trying to be cheeky. Have I told anyone to buy aptamil - apart from mothers that have posted and complained about wanting to try other brands?

Maybe you should take time out to answer posts from other women rather than coming here to drop inciting posts.

On Topic, I hardly adhere to the recommended scoop guideline I just let instinct guide me... we also have bottles of varying sizes, a nor dey remember check ML sef.

Baby K's been on formula from hour 1, I hadn't even seen him before nurses begin load am milk, I just went with the flow.

With No 1 & 2, they were only formula fed for a couple of days till BM was established, exclusively BFed till 4 months & moved to Frisogold & cerelac without adding milk then switched to Golden morn & peak 123 @ around 10mths...

I'm wary about offering advise cos most times, intention & perception get mixed up somewhere along the communication channel..

My baby stays with my mum and she says she reduces the measurement by one scoop and increases the number of times to be fed by 1 more.i.e on the can it says 6 feeds per day, so she feeds her like 4 times instead of 3( since she BFs before I go to work and once I'm back no bottles) like I instructed her. She also gives her plenty water.
Please put in mind that whatever food my mama eats has to be soft as in very soft be it porridge, rice, eba or amala. Na spoon we dey use chop her eba sef.
My baby is on NAN 1 and no constipation / malnutrition. Infact my baby just dey fat dey go.

Mamas, there are one million ways to bring up a child. There is no right or wrong way about it. As long as the child grows healthy and wise.

I stand with helovesme on this! My lo is on combination feeding and I go one scoop less! Sma gold stated on their tin that your baby may need more or less scoops than recommended! Less works for us and he is just fine!

Find out what works for your baby and stick with that simple. There's no one size fits all on this matter.

i was also like you. i wanted to do EBF but my baby was never satisfied. he would always end up crying. my mum would be like ''this boy is hungy ooooooooooooooooo'' and i will just carry face and insist that ''no, he's not hungry, i am on EBF'' and my mum would YIMU. LOL .

the first day i gave him formula and i noticed no more crying, i actually felt very, very bad because it meant all these while he had been hungry hence why he was crying. since then, i adopted full combination feeding. 70-80% breastmilk and 20% water/formula. some days i give him formula during the day and then i breastfeed him from say 6pm and anytime he wakes up till morning. some days its vice versa.

maybe you should increase the number of bottles he takes a day. have you checked his weight with the medics to see if he is within the percentile for his age? IGNORE your neighbour. is she a scale ? lol. how does she know that he is underweight.

if he cries a lot, its hunger oh. just increase the number of bottles you give him. a child should not starve or be underfed just because we are eager to do EBF.

He's weighing 3.47 for a baby who was born at 3.5kg..his paediatrician said he isn't getting enough breast milk and the little he's getting he's burning off by sucking for so long..that I should get a breast pump and take lots of fluids..truth is I'm trying my best to eat as much as I can but I'm not finding it easy..it hurts to.. know that all his cries were caused by hunger..the annoying part is I'm very busty..why then is there no milk..I'm so not happy..I'll increase his feeds then get fenugreek..pls any other tips on how to improve milk flow..

Oh! Dear just take it easy. Lactating very well has nothing to do with breast size. I m not busty but when I was EBF my son, I pump minimum of 1200ml daily and he was still suckin very well. U can try fenugreek like u said, pls take plenty fluid. If u can just keep drinkin water as many times as possible. Also pls relax cos ur mood can affect ur milk production as well.

Also u can substitute with Formula as well. Check ur pocket and see d type u can afford and pray ur baby's system accepts it. Pls don't go without feedin ur baby for more than 3hrs (even at 9t). Wake up to feed him.

But hear is another secret if u feed ur baby with breastmilk now and d next feed will be formula in 3hrs, after feeding with formula, express with breast pump so that ur system will get use to d 3hrs thingy. It's not easy ooo my dear but just try it. Even if u r able to pump out only 60ml no wahala after 3hrs pump again or give baby to suck. Pumping will give u an idea of what actually comes out so u kno ur son is not getting enough.

When u give him formula take note of d quantity he finishes so u can mix it. By mixing I mean if for instance ur son finishes 150ml of formula and u av 60ml of expressed breastmilk, u can give him 90/100ml of formula and 50/60ml of breastmilk afterwards. But my dear just keep pumping every 3hrs.

@hafsat, sorry about that. You are a FTM, don't be too hard on yourself. Na experience you dey gather so. Why don't you do combination feeding but more of formula. I read somewhere that if b.milk supply is not established the first few weeks that it's harder to increase, don't know how true o! There are even people that don't lactate well. A friend of mine is one and all her kids have been bottle fed from d word go. She only gives breast to palcify. Try the fenugreek, some swear by it. All the best

My dear, nothing to cry about as long as theirs a solution
1. Get a brestpump. The moreu pump, ur breast inflow increases
.2. Make pap ur second food. Pap in d morning, pap at night. If u can prune juice, it also helps
3. Eat well and rest well. Ur milk supply increases at d point of rest.
4. Go and get formular andfeed ur baby with it. At least till ur baby gets his weight back then u can continue the EBF. Whether EBF or formular, d most important tin isdhealth of ur lO

Please give him paracetamol for the temperature.

He should have been administered pcm before the immunisation.

When I went for my son's immunization, I forgot to give him pcm the night before as I was told by the medic. However, the nurse gave him a dose before she gave him the injections.

I think depression set in wen u dnt ve support or help...In my case,my dh helps alot n we ve constant light 2 while away time wit movies.
