patches689: Orange or red is marine colour code for search and rescue, the boats are deliberately bright coloured to make them clearly visible in peacetime maritme role, the people in distress at sea need to clearly see and signal by waving hand and screaming voice to attract attention of incoming rescue boat that is searching for the victims including near drowning men struggling to float in stormy sea. Most likely Nigeria wont have conventional war at sea in the next 10 years or more, that threat is zero for now, but only God can predict tomorrow 100% correctly. NNS Unity, second P18N

MikeCZAR: Is that the topic or subject of the discussion? The answer is NO, everydody already knows the status of the ship and we are all talking about if there is need to fit with in future. Stop trying to bring wounds from the other thread to this place and use your brain to understand the subject of other people's discussion before you jump in, use your brain even if its not that efficiently functional, just try use it, half bread is better than none my dear friend. |

patches689: Direct your comment to MikeZAR, he is the one making mischief about fitting missiles on the P18N, everybody was discussing the matter peacefully to share knowledge until MikeZAR brought in the manners of the other thread....and you too copued his statement few minutes after. Go backwards and read his provocative posts and yours that copied his words. I could retaliate by hitting back on the Rooivalk sales he is trying to promote here using Congo DRC, but I decided not to do so because I don't think we need many imbéciles here, one is enough. 7 Likes 3 Shares |

Henry240: You think Xnurs deal is off? I was referring to it. NN needs to break the jinx or we will never have a submarine, we just keep making new excuses every new government regime. Navies around the world have been using subs since 1940s world war II ancient times. Even countries like Peru and Indonesia have 6 and 3 submarines to boast of. A normal navy is to have surface and sub-surface vessels, that is a normal navy. ASW capability does not replace submarines. If we dont get bold one day and buy a submarine even if its second hand to start with, we will never buy one.

agaugust: No,no,no..... I was only looking out for a re-confirmation, i thought you had one. We'll just have to be on the look out for how 2016 progresses. I'm not against the idea of a submarine, our officers trained in Pakistani submarines a couple years back. However, i think our priority should lie in developing capable surface combatants, then we can develop that undersea capability. 3 Corvettes and 1 Frigate should ordinarily follow our incoming 4 missile boats. |

Henry240: I have a second 'confirmation' about the missile fast attack crafts, the Navy released on internet the full conference papers on their ops, plans and needs as delivered by an admiral rank officer, he clearly said 4 fast attack crafts and 8 long range helicopters will be purchased as soon as money comes. I posted the pdf file last December/this January but cannot easily find it again in my overloaded folder.

bidexiii: 4 brand new guided missile fast attack crafts for about $120 million total cost is a smart idea, they will cover and defend the entire Nigerian ocean EEZ and they are dual role MPV anti-piracy and FAC conventional warfare vessels with a powerful mix of cannon, machine guns, anti-ship missiles and anti-aircraft missiles.
