Unless USCIS requested DNA, there is no mechanism in place for you to submit DNA on your own ahead of the interview. It may not even be required.

I attended the visa interview in Lagos on the eight of February. The only question i was asked is "What is the status of your immigrant visa?" I answered and the VO went ahead to say that i wasn't eligible......

My older sister petitioned for an immigrant visa for me 7 years ago and in January last year we were called saying the petition/visa had been approved and we should wait for the visa numbers to be available (thereabout)

It's been over a year now, yet no visa number available. I just really want to go on a vacation during my annual leave.

Question: Is a person automatically ineligible for a B1-B2 visa once there is a pending immigrant visa application?

I really need this clarified so I know if it's a waste of time to apply again.

@Justwise sir, was my post inappropriate or what? Why is it hidden? It's for learning purpose and represents both IV and NIV questions. I did ask "what next?" and was really expecting an answer to that and to hear from the VO the way round not necessarily going for an IV when one is constrained to do so as a last resort instead of hoping for an NIV unending.

No, pending immigrant visa applications are not an ineligibility.

I don't know. That's handled by another agency. It depends on how quickly you respond to their requirements and how complete the file is. As mentioned, when we receive the file you will be contacted.

Thank you for your efforts in answering so many questions on this forum. We, Nigerians, really appreciate you.
I have a case that's currently in the CSPA eligibility determination stage by NVC, for my sister who is now 21 yrs and 3 months and a Visa number currently available on this months Visa bulletin. Using the CSPA calculator, 5 months delay between filing and approval, her CSPA age is 20 years and 10 months, so she is still considered under 21 based on CSPA. We have submitted all documents as of August last year to the NVC, we've paid the AOS and IV fees and just last night we completed the visa application forms.

I have no doubt in my mind that she still is under 21 based on CSPA age calculation and will get a visa interview soon. The good news is that within 2 weeks, so much progress has been made in her case probably because I have persistently called and written to expedite the case and it seems to be working. I'll say now, we do not owe NVC any more fees or documents... They just owe us an interview date.

My main question is, for F2A children, do they need to get a police certificate for an interview? Is it required for that visa category?
Also, her passport expired in September of this year... it is a good idea to have her passport renewed soonest right?
Usually how far ahead do interviews get scheduled... is it enough time for the applicant to do medical examination and get results ready for the interview?

Hello, please help with this question, my husband who is the beneficiary had is interview in October 22, 2015, he was told to send in his UK police report ( because he once lived there), he sent it and the embassy received it sometimes in November, we were placed on Admin processing but few weeks ago it changed to ready, and after 3 weeks in ready it changed back to admin processing, please help what does that mean? I read online that once its change from ready to administrative processing then it means it will soon be issue, is this true?

We received a Mail from NVC in september 2015 to start out F4 visa process which we have done(Completed visa payment and AOS, submitted required documents in october). We were informed in the last mail received from NVC that we should give them 30days for review but till date nothing has been heard. Called and they said we should wait for interview date but nothing has been heard. Please Advice. Thank you

Interviews are scheduled based on availability - the dates are always in flux because people are rescheduling their appointments every day, so I can't give you a good estimate for that.

With regards to the police report, anyone over the age of 15 needs a police report, regardless of visa class.

And yes, she will require a valid passport to interview.

It means he is in administrative processing. We are required to comply with U.S. immigration law and until all of the issues are resolved we cannot move forward with any case. You will be notified when administrative processing is complete.

If the Consulate hasn't called you, we don't have your file. You can try to contact NVC but it is likely that your file is in transit between the two locations/systems. This can take several months.

The interview does not need to be held in South Africa (in fact, it should be held wherever you are living), and there is no minimum period after you marry. There is only one visa class that applies to your situation - CR-1.

Thanks for the information. So, with the police report, how would she go about obtaining one? Will the NVC or the Embassy issue her a signed letter to give to the Police Commissioner for a report?

Also, is there a letter issued by NVC to take to the Medical Examiner?
