Musiwa419:Hear yourself! Are they trying to be king over yorubas or yoruba land? Tell me if some set of igbos violet the laws of the yoruba people @Ibadan or oyo state as a whole, who will stand for them or who will the Oba call? Is it not the Eze that they will lay the complaint to? BTW why is it now that they try to issue this statement? Are other tribes residing @Oyo not having "head"? Why is it that it's only Igbo they will single out. This is what is practiced everywhere even the Yoruba's has kings in diaspora. So don't make issue out of a non issue. 2 Likes |

Maybe if the Eze had conducted himself in a respecful manner, he wouldn't have declared it illegal The hausas always have a leader wherever there is a Sabo and till today, no one has made a fuss about it. |

jcflex:Where in my post did I say Seriki means the same thing as Emir? What do you mean by "igbo need to respect their host community tradition"? Have you ever seen Igbos disrespect their hosts? What happened in the case of Deji of Akure and Eze ndiigbo in Akure was still a matter of inferiority complex on the part of the Deji. The Eze ndiigbo never disrespected him. The Deji simply wanted to flex muscles knowing fully that he was in his own land and can practically do whatever he felt like, forgetting that their are Yorubas who live and work freely and have their leaders in Igboland without anybody bothering them. He just probably destroyed the relationship of Igbos and Yorubas in Akure and further strained Igbo/Yoruba relationship generally. You see,Igbos are not fools. They're watching and observing. Two can play this game. If you can't live and let live, then the problem is yours. Ps: the Fulanis/Hausas hold their whatever huge traditional ceremony in the southeast, where they wield knives and machetes and display all kind of stunts, yet you'll never hear Igbos complaining about this. If it were to be the Igbos doing that in Yorubaland, you'll hear some Yorubas screaming and protesting that the Igbos are disrespecting them in their own land. What a pity! 2 Likes |

Ucheosefoh: If there's an oba in abuja, he speaks for himself. But beyond that my last paragraph still applies; if his actions whether cultural or not, is not in sync or causes discomfort to the hosts, its behoves on him to change and modify his actions to suit his host; and not just tell them its his culture and they should get along. That's foolhardy. Prominent Igbo not making controversial statements is your opinion and can easily be put down. Prominent Igbo have called Lagos no man's land. Their eze have a 'palace'. In akure the eze wore his crown into the Deji of Akure's palace ( conflicting seriously with the ruling culture there). If those are not examples of controversial statements and intents, I don't know what is... |

Musiwa419:Read the thread very well before showing your deep hatred and inferiority due to Igbophobiesm, the Ibadan king never cautioned him that he can't be Ezendigbo in Ibadan, only that Oludan is in support of other group that were not recognized by the court. and for your information, Biafra war killed both igbos and non-igbos as bullets don't discriminate, though more Igbos died. |

I find the tribalism some Igbos display against yorubaland and even almost all tribes offensive tht was why I reacted tht way. Yes, they can av their elderstatesmen and chiefs in yorubaland. This is a clear case of a hypocrite it is very fallacious to claim igbos always have problems with their host communities...This is just a clear case of a hypocrite and an ethnic chauvinist.....I have been in Lagos for more than 30years and at no point have i heard normal people of Yoruba and Igbo clash on anything aside these ego-filled traditional rulers who try to fuel ethnic bias within the two ethnicities. I have seen more Hausa Vs Yoruba fight than igbo vs yoruba fight in the entire South West..Why do we always see this more often in Yoruba land than other parts of Nigeria since Yoruba people are domiciled in both the East and North? Then tell me who is more accommodating? |

Musiwa419:What are you saying please? Is it a crime for a people of a particular culture to continue to practice their culture in outside territories?(Not to talk of the fact that this is our own country). How is the setting up of a traditional ruler of a particular people in another region over THEMSELVES an imposition of culture over another people? Is the Ezendiigbo threatening to turn your Yoruba sons into igbo boys? What is really annoying about the bolded is the fact that you use this as an excuse to justify the genocide in the civil war. If you think something as harmless as having a traditional ruler in another region is a just precipitate for civil war then you are a hateful tribalist and should be behind bars right now before you incite violence. |

Gaddamn! This heifer even has a "palace" in Yorubaland - hysterical. Yoruba culture has been bastardised and desecrated with too compromise for a fictitious country that only exist on paper. Is this the same Ibadan with all kinds of legends about how brave and militant they're in battles? Ibadan is soft. This mofo ought to be whipped and dragged around butt-nake3d, with his crown confiscated. There can only be one king in one kingdom, unless it's a conquered one. 2 Likes 1 Share |

These bigoted folks! I just wonder where they wandered from. Igbos and inferiority complex! If anyone wanna be king, such one should relocate to his tribal domain. You cannot claim to be king over your host. Tenant is tenant. Landlord is landlord. #yeyenatu. |

Musiwa419:You made no sense, you are simply emotional. What are the fundamental human rights? we have freedom of association. we have freedom of expression etc. If the Igbos across Nigeria decide to form association or choose the title of Eze as a form of expression for their group leader, then what law have they broken? I have heard of Sarkin Hausa as the head of Hausas outside their homeland. Does the Oyo state gov pay him? wtf |

Joshthefirst: Eff a federal republic. There's a reason why there are customary laws and the provincial agreements that created the entity called "Nigeria" were signed by traditional rulers. If you want a king - go install one in ya village. Yorubaland is Yorubaland and Igboland is Igboland. 1 Like |

Its simple logic, u live in ma land den u play by ma rule else u wld have to just leave. From ma own part where i come from, we dont have anythin like eze ndigbo yet we live in peace with them. So its a simple case, u want to stay in ibadan, yu can bt notin eze ndigbo. Datz y i askd how many sarkin hausawas do we have in da se region. |

Why is Yoruba people like to bite the finger that feed them, the igbo people has made the SW what they are in Nigeria today, and again what issue those Yoruba have concerning Ezendigbo because every known citizen of Nigeria knows that Ezendigbo is just a ceremonial that help to preserve igbo culture any where they are in the World. Eze ndigbo is any where you find igbo people in Nigeria and Diaspora so why is yoruba become different in any thing that concern igbo people . First Awolowo after the war give every igbo person 20 pounce to survive, Oba of lagos treating igbo people on Election and now the issue of Ezendigbo that is every where in the World. |

EreluY: I guess the Obas and other kings were thrown down from Heaven. They started at a time as well. The point here is not when anyone started, it is that they have their kings now. There are over 500k Igbos in Oyo State, Enough to form a country of their own. So, yep, they are entitled to have their leader and call it whatever they like as long as they obey the laws of the host community. |
