thank you Jarre. I wonder why some people delight pleasure in someones hardship. The Op writes as if seeing that woman suffer will add more credit to his bank account. No body uses poverty to sew his cloths biko. if Her body is made to be a model and God chooses to bless her with that, then let the OP keep rubbing his butocks on the floor and also expect to shot down his television, the next time she appears on T V screen.
u are getting the write up very wrong

What he didnt like is the spirituality attached to it,that you can "blow" overnight without much stress.

Here in the states is the American Dream... 'getting everything you've ever dreamed of by working towards it'

Nigerians do love a cindarella story.

And to think of it; they said she's gonna be a motivational speaker at an event.

What has she got to say? To admonish people to keep doing what they do best? To keep praying and hoping? To keep believing in their luck? Motivational speaker of course.

Let's though allow her enjoy the fame in peace and not start hoping 'God pick up my call too' like Olajumoke.
She didn't even dial God's number, but ain't that the beauty of it?

And to those whose pastors gave prayer points like "o Lord my God, pick up my call as you did to Olajumoke in the days of old" , stop it! Instead, work to make God notice you.

You're right.

I think corporate nigeria went to far by making her a speaker at a major event. I mean, what exactly is she supposed to say ?

However, not much can be done about present concept of 'Nigerian Dream', as long as abject poverty and the lack of basic social amenities prevail.

A good chunk of People in this country have given up hope of ever achieving a good life through the work of their hands alone, hence the 'Cinderella syndrome'.

Our government should shoulder most of the blame for the subhuman policies and inhumane looting of commonwealth they have subjected Nigerians to over the years.

what's this crap this guy has written? Oh! u would have felt better if she had rejected the offers and endorsement, I sense jealousy more in your tone than anything. Have u asked ur brilliant self why she is hawking bread on the streets? is it her fault that the political class have decided to deliberately impoverish the masses? Born again first class Students are now Yahoo boys, that quiet and decent girl is now a part time LovePeddler! guess why? after series of interviews with no luck, no money for business and after learning a craft,no money to setup! So when such flukes happen ,u expect people to say no and say..my labor will bring me wealth, when u drank garri last nite? U are a funny person, there is no sense in your write up,just jealousy! when Jesus wanted to pay his Tax, he got it from a fish, when he wanted to ride in to Jerusalem, he just went and took a Donkey..he didn't say,let me go and work first! Life is dynamic in nature..it seems you are sworn to the conventional thinking, a permanent victim of circumstance.

How would U say she didn't work for it, or for the fame she has attained. God does not call the qualified, but God qualify the called. There is destiny for everyone and we are different. Her dedication and favour of God made the difference. She was not lazy type, and she may not be the most beautiful and was not competing with anyone. There are so many bread hawkers out there before her but yet may not make it.

Hating the Church, means U hate God and that draws my dislike for the poster. Yes if U claim your brain is hot, how many theory on helping Nigeria have U proposed. Remember the grave is full of indispensable men and women. God is God and his ways are different. Stop your diatribe please.

I agree with some of Op submissions but I don't agree that she didn't make much effort.

Remember she hawked bread, she didn't resign to fate in a far-flung town in Osun.

Her struggles paid off and that's the sweetness of the story for me.

But the gist is becoming tiring already and with those indolent banks out doing themselves to be associated with her, I think I have had enough.

A civil servant on a fixed income will spend most of his time attending church programmes praying for favour and breakthrough. He does not own any business and does not even gamble yet he expects a windfall.... Why, someone said so. It never occurs to him that even in the bible few ever got what can be described as a windfall without working hard for it.

somebody helped her to see possibility in her ability.

But Nigeria has been celebrating mediocrity since 1960, our banks, multinationals, private individual can not sponsor science and technology research in our schools but, talent hunts in music, modeling, dance e.etc. with a winner getting away with 5m, 20 m as star prize for a single individual. what of what is a program like YouWin where 100's of our unemployed youth can get assistance to starts production.

Of all the ladies in model school why bread seller on the street _ God factor. also beggar has no choice cos she will only accept whatever offer present to her cos she is not by her choice to be a model.

Nonsense...Irrelevant epistle. Indeed the story of Jumoke is inspiring. How? The story of moving from grass to grace, being in the right place and right time.We all know Nigerians could be dramatic, but most of the people going on about her are graduates . and working class. How can you succeed in life if you do not meet the right people? (maybe by chance) You working in that bank do you think you so merit it over the next dude with a first class? this is a stupid write up and an attempt to downplay the grace of God in the life of the young woman. Its just like getting mad against rich kids for being born into rich families through not fault of theirs. All these bloggers looking for attention and a herd of yes-men.

This guy you just nailed it. This will be the first time I am commenting on Jumoke's story. I don't find her story inspiring, but am happy for her.
It is so appalling that corporate companies no longer invest on innovations and intellectual people. All they do is to invest on entertainment and things that distract one from thinking critically. Anyone that insult Adeosun needs to go for medical checkup.

My opinion.

Regarding the Spiritual angle that our people have taken Jumoke's saga to, plus other things on this

issue, Peter Adeosun Keyz writes ~

I understand his point. But please let her be. A battered people will celebrate this 'achievement'.

I stand to celebrate her and many Nigerians who are struggling to survive daily against the odds.

Was actually thinking the guy was hating at first, but he made real sense

I did not c much sense in his points here. He presented it as if Nigerians dont fink,or are lazy whc is not tru. This is a country where many pple have projects that can even transform our nation but have nobody to translate those ideas to somefin meaninful. Pls let him be reminded that Olajumoke is being celebrated because she has got plenty like most Nigerians and still whallowing in lack. She was discoverd while strugling to make ends meet, haba! this calls for celebration. @the writter that is ur opinion and I guess u dnt undstnd what poverty rlly means.

Re: Peter Adeosun: I Don't Like The Olajumoke, The Bread Seller Turned Model's Story by Nobody: 1:24pm On Feb 20, 2016
Peter(aka the op) is missing the point. In fact, he has no point.
Why we all talking about the bread seller's story is simply because of how it happened and not because of innate religion or superstition.

She was hawking bread and was part of an unintended photo shoot. She radiated her natural beauty which then captivated the photographer.

So why are we talking about her story?

1) It shows beauty can be found in any place and not just in places of opulence.

2) Anybody's dreams can come true even when it is least expected.

3) Hard work is always rewarded. Had she sat at home and depended on a breadwinner instead of being her family's breadwinner, this unexpected fortune won't have found her.

We dearly love Jumoke's story because a beautiful woman through sheer hardwork and humility encountered fortune beyond her wildest dreams. If this story is well scripted in a movie, it might win an Oscar.

So Op, pls don't hate her story or try rationalise why we love her story with all your drivel. It captured our imagination and we will keep spreading it.

That is africa man for you always waiting on GOd while the white man values hard work, thinking critically and following a plan to acheive there objective.
.
That is why the can take resources from the ground and convert it into mobile phones, ipads etc that those who are waiting on God will never make.

No wonder they control the world while africa man is waiting on God

Like someone said if your boat capsize in the middle of the river will you swim or pray to get to land?

[size=18pt]All Op is saying in his write up is not.. About Jumoke or his he hating her success story... But how d news is fast spreading.... In the midst of abject proverty.. We have guys with creative power, to develop our economy... Let's us discover dem... Bring dem to front line and let's bring back the glory of Nigeria... Enough of over night success story without positive solution and contributions to Nigeria economy... Similar stories in the Bible Joseph from prison to prime minister... Save his nation economy from 7years of feminine ... Esther in the Bible.. save her people from being destroyed. The point is that we need someone dat will recover back Nigeria Lost glory! . because the system is grounded.. Beyond Jumoke success story.. I think dis mine own version of story about Op write up. Yes I know that. But this won't make us develop. Look at US we are copying. US has the number one market for entertainment but they never neglected their best brains.

I read about a story how Mark Zuckerberg is motivating inventors, people with innovations in science and technology. Everything shouldn't be based on just to make money or profit.
