Congratulations on your visa. Pls can I confirm what exchange rate you used on your budget sheet? Was it the official or parallel rate? Thanks.

Thank you. we used 300-1$ but according to the chart he was looking at on the wall, it was the standard CBN rate..

Hi everyone,
How's everyone doing? While reading through the thread I noticed some people mentioned sending money directly to an American account and the bank with do that at the CBN rate. May be I'm not getting it right hence my confusion. How does this work? Is this what the form A is about? Can someone shed some light on this? I thought you have to put the dollars (you got by yourself) in your domicilliary account before you can send it to the US.

Basically, you request for and present the invoice(s)with wire transfer details from your hospital+/- doctor in the U.S to your bank here in Nigeria and they would bid on your behalf with the CBN and then debit your naira account once the transaction sails through. You get debited at the prevailing officially CBN rate for the day.

P.S some banks will require additional documents other than just invoice from a U.S hospital/specialist. Check with your bank,

Good afternoon mums,
I got my visa December last year, my application had Connecticut as the place I will be staying with a family friend who is a citizen.
Getting in touch with my family friend to settle for a doctor has not been easy, my edd is in May and I would be travelling in April,i have another friend in New Jersey that I can stay with, but I want to know the implication of changing state at the POE.

Thanks a lot. Can you do send the money to any account like a personal account in the UD or it has to be an account like a school or hospital? I mean, for example- can I send money to my sisters account in the US using this method you mentioned above. Would the bank agree to do that?

Hi everyone,
God bless you all for a very informative thread,am about 6wks pregnant,i intend sending in my application in a couple of weeks, then emailing the embassy later on about my intent to have a baby there..

My worries :
1) could I be refused entry after my email?being that I was pregnant at time of application?
2)Do I just leave early enough,to avoid having to notify the embassy
3)when returning with a baby would there be any
implication

If I don't get it now,I'll have to wait till am obvious(my tummy) and declare my intent. Please advise.Thanks.

Are you renewing via drop box or applying for the first time? We need to understand better.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by quin9(f): 3:43pm On Feb 21, 2016
First time application, never been to the US but I have a good travel history
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by happytbaby: 3:52pm On Feb 21, 2016
Quinn 9,

Being pregnant is not a reason to be denied a US visa or entry into the US, lying to an immigration or visa officer is.

Your pregnancy not being obvious does not mean that God has not blessed you with a little bun in the oven.

Go through the thread, get a pen, sift through the information, decide on hospital/ doctor, communicate and get delivery estimate from them. Make a bugdet, you will see samples on this thread. Gather your documents that show evidence of how much you earn and that you can afford to deliver. Go for your interview and tell them your purpose is child birth. Read interview transcripts from here.

If you have any further questions during the course of your preparation we shall be here to answer them.

P.S: The implication of your sending an email is that you may be called to come and they revoke the previously granted visa.

The implication of you sneaking in is that you will have this baby and then not be able to get your visa renewed.

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by happytbaby: 3:59pm On Feb 21, 2016
No because your sister is not an hospital or a school.

If you want to send money to your sister you will need to do Western Union or Moneygram in which case she will have to physically go to an agent location to collect it. There is a cap of about 800 dollars @ about 265naira per dollar per person per quarter on Moneygram . I am not sure of what the Western Union is per quarter but it's about 400 dollars per transaction.

Please read the last 10 pages, this topic has been discussed extensively.

Change of destination didn't use to be a big deal, am surprised people are being harassed for that.

However, the simple solution is this. Fly in thorough JFK and write the family friend's address as the place you are going. Your POE does not actually matter. To all intents and purposes you might be catching a local flight 2days later to Connecticut.

Goodluck

Happytbaby I have read on this thread and the other thread and change of destination has always been an issue to those officers because it makes them suspicious , if you tell them at the point of application that you are going to Houston for example and show up at another especially without a flight ticket evidence to show that actually you are going there, it has always been a problem, my friend was almost turned back when she showed up in San Francisco instead of Philadelphia that she filled.
I'll rather she shows up at the place she mentioned then fly to the new place she intends to birth.

Okay I wasn't on this thread for more than a year. However, for my last visa, I wrote my in law's address in Atlanta and went to Phoenix Via BA from Lagos, no one asked me why.

Second time I used to visa, I flew to JFK, same thing no questions. also, there is nothing wrong in buying your local tickets after getting in. In some peoples cases it may be that the POE officer is just looking for excuses. Also, maybe the people didn't carry proper evidence of the new hospital they decided on. I have know people to get visas based on 'i am talking to a couple of doctors I haven't really decided..' anyway, let her decide what's best for her

This issue of Changes of POE in my case I filled Florida and went to Los Angeles. the man I meet did not ask me too many questions. Sending you back to your country because of change of POE is some how.
Have this in mind when you lie your body language speake it so go in with full confidence believed it or not US Government is no the benefiting point. so that is not the case the case is don't lie to them even if you do let your body languages speake the true. they are always looking into to your eyes wen asking questions so don't ever look away from their eyes, If you don't have the answer to give them just pretended that you did not due them by saying 'pardon please' it works for me that is why.

Happytbaby actually those officers just take is as an excuse not to let people in, but the different stories I have heard just makes me say show up where you filled in for the first time, subsequent trips you can show up wherever you decide to they don't have a problem with subsequent trips I think because I have never heard anyone complain about subsequent trips unlike first trips

Please do you mean that if one says houston is the destination during visa interview, landing at JFK with the hope of a conecting flight to Houston could be a problem?
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by Nobody: 4:53pm On Feb 21, 2016
Omodadi no I don't think it would if you can show them tickets booked to proceed to Houston, it really shouldn't be an issue if you do provide evidence

yes if you now intend to stay in Newyork instead of proceeding to where you mentioned depending on the border control officer you meet it just might pose a lot of questions and It might not but it's better to be safe than sorry

border control officer will be able to shed more light on this question because I really don't know what to say and how the border control officers view these situations, the scenarios I gave above are those I heard of and read on this thread and the other, don't worry yourself jare you'll be fine kiss

It's for medical/school fees oh and not personal accounts transfer. Just use it to pay for your hospital fees and dr fees and have your PTA as your 'vex money' and for additional expenses, shopping et al.
