Thanks dear.

I'm also on it.

Will revert once I'm done.

mrsbw:
okay guys..wanted to wait to be debited before confirming the Form A stuff.

I intend using Dr La and WHMC. WHMC does not accept wire transfers, so I got Dr La's wire transfer details.

I went to Stanbic IBTC on Thursday for the processing.

Documents required:
a) Letter of reference from specialist doctor, or specialist hospital in Nigeria -
b) Completed Form A
c) Passport, visa and air ticket
d) Correspondence with overseas specialist doctor stating the cost of treatment etc.

Filled the form; requested for payment of doctors fees only (paid $3,000) and included my doctor's bank details. The requirement doesn't state just hospitals can be credited. It only states that it must be for medical treatment. So, I guess if you can provide your doctors correspondence (with his letterhead) and they can match it to the bank details. I guess they can also check the doctor online if they want.

Got debited the ffg this morning: Transaction: 598500; telex charge: 4000; offshore charge: $25 = 4987.50; Bank commission 0.5% = 3142.13
Total was 610629.6 which came to about N203.5 per $.

So you can actually pay for just doctor or doctor and hospital if your hospital accepts transfers.

Noticed in the CBN requirement page that if the doctor includes cost of maintenance, that cost of treatment can be made payable to the hospital and the cost of maintenance to the applicant if the applicant is an outpatient; but I did not explore that oh. Only paid doctor's bill.

Also, I had initially gone to UBA and they said they dont process Form A for childbirth. GTB said I'll be on a wait list for at least a month. Went to stanbic after @onlineise post on Wednesday, and it got processed in 48hours. Thanks so much @onlineise you are a life saver!

Pls remember to collect your telex copy from the bank as proof of payment

Hope this helps cc: @biollar1 @chloe7 @kemo88 @beautyx5

Hello house. Good Morning.

Since dollar has us thinking and porting to elpaso and using Form A i jst thot to ask this very nagging question.

Wont it be a problem at POE dat our transcripts show a different hospital and doctor detail?
Will d officers giv a hard time?

Pls anyone with experience, pls share.

I sent a mail to the embassy informing them of my 'change of destination'and asking if by doing this I was violating my visa terms in anyway and they replied so printed it out with their reply for poe, but I wasn't questioned about it. You can do so too just to tick boxes.

Hello house,
Pls is a hospital allowed to refused to reissue a cheque to a patient if for some reason the service is paid for and not used. I paid for the Maricopa maternity package which i didnt eventually use, they issued me a cheque about three months later( Of course I had left the US by this time) which is to expire in some weeks but I will not be in the US to cash it. So I asked for another cheque ie I asked for the cheque to be reissued or if the money can be paid directly into my account. but they refused saying either I cash the cheque before it expires which is impossible now or I forfeit the cost of the full maternity package. Let not forget that I paid in cash but was issued a cheque 3 months later, knowing fully well I am not based in the US. I am very confused and angry. I need some advise please.

This Madam is so mischievous. I think you should give your body at least 2 weeks to rest, except there is something really urgent that you need to comeback home for...

A friend left after 11days and went to jand where she had more comfortable accommodation since her parents have a house there. She came back to Nija like 6weeks after that.

I believe one of the major issues MIHS had with us was the speed with which people sped out of Phoenix after delivery. The doctors didn't like that at all, one attending told us its not good for the new mum to engage in any form of travel before 6 weeks.

Also, I know someone who started bleeding two weeks after delivery, she had left for another part of America, she collapsed, thank God for correct emergency services...911...if she was back in Lagos Nigeria, I doubt she would have survived o. You will not have complications in Jesus name but I think its better to play safe.

When you are filling it you will see the step by step guide. Just start it and you will complete it.
Fill for one person first, book interview and you will be asked if you want to add any family, at that point, gob complete form for the other person, then come back to add to the interview schedule. That's how we did ours.
Best of luck!

Talk to your bank, some allow you to pay a foreign cheque into an account that will be opened for you for that purpose, it takes 25 working days get value all things being equal.
Good luck

Thanks! That was very educative and more up to date than the info I had. However, I took note of the following and I quote :

"Until recently, challenges to CBP's authority asserting that property searches of electronic devices at the border violate individuals' First Amendment↗ right to freedom of expression have not been upheld. However, in March, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in United States v. Cotterman issued a decision en banc↗ holding that CBP agents must have reasonable suspicion of criminal activity before conducting comprehensive searches of laptops or other digital devices.

This decision is a significant reversal of prior court doctrine and creates, for the first time, a broad standard aimed at protecting travelers' electronic information from suspicionless searches.
The court did not define what constitutes a comprehensive search, and the decision only applies to agents operating within the Ninth Circuit (which includes the US-Mexico border along Arizona and California). It is likely that electronic devices will still be subject to cursory examinations. "

So my question is are they checking these devices because of criminal suspicions? I doubt so.

Any SAN in t house

The standard referred to here is the standard the Officers should be held to and not a standard preferring rights on the traveller. Not sure what the question is but in the absence of any subsequent decisions on this matter, reasonable suspicion of criminal activity is required for an officer to search a traveller's electronic devices.

For the avoidance of doubt sha this searches are done in a lot of places, not just the USA. In Australia, even US citizens may be subjected to those searches.
