EFFCC need to arrest the executive of FBNH and look into the procurement of their bad loans,it could be a bad loan scam.Very irresponsible of them to give such loans based on volatile oil prices.I believe the share price will be seriously battered but that will be when the result is out. 4 Likes |

Youngzedd: Buying FBN now is a trap. The stock is not worth more than N1.5. The coy is going to report loss in 2015 accounts. I don't understand the optimism around the stock. The Board and management should be sacked. |

Something nice to read http://www.forbes.com/sites/bryanrich/2016/02/26/warren-buffetts-concentrated-six-stock-portfolio/ This part of the article re-echoes one of my strategies.
In other words, when great stocks with good long term potentials get battered due to short term challenges, get buying. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

megainvest: I would advice careful financial planning..You need to commit only idle funds to long term stocks...ie don't put money you would need in the short term on such stocks...Nevertheless, Mr. Buffet's recommendation is a tested and proven wealth building strategy..I concur. |

DeRuggedProf: @DeRuggedProf you are spot on...too much manipulation going on in the market which makes you query if there is any regulation at all...Company executives colluding with MM/brokers to deceive retail investors who are always at the receiving end when the bubble burst... |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by stokfrick: 6:36pm On Feb 27, 2016 |
Coolcash1: Buffets strategy only works in a well regulated stock market with little or no manipulation where real MKT forces of demand and supply are allowed to determine d true value of a stock and not where sheer manipulation in d guise of rules are used to determine price of a stock. Its only then we can have real growth stocks. So u can imagine what transpired even after 2:30pm on Friday when fbnh closed at 3.48 only for us to see 3.89 on d price list That is after it was clear that they performed poorly its became top gainer 4 d day. Does that happen in a sane clime? 1 Like 1 Share |

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by megainvest: 6:57pm On Feb 27, 2016 |
Mr Market does not respond to anything but demand and supply. The price of stocks can only be determined by the flow of money. Those who we refer to as manipulators simply determine the price of the stocks by buying or selling large volumes at pre-determined prices within the provisions of the market. 'Manipulation' costs money. As I have said before, if you have the money, you can do the same! Your success in this market will depend on your ability to understand and take advantage of the forces that influence this flow of money. Welcome to the stock market. 1 Like |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Coolcash1: 9:37pm On Feb 27, 2016 |
megainvest: @megainvest, I disagree with you totally on the bold statement. For instance, as at close of Friday trading the total volume of trade on Seplat shares was less than 12k with a total market value less than N4m and the price, surprisingly went north by N10 to close at N340. Meanwhile, FO that had almost same value of trade saw its share price unchanged. The point here is price manipulation is not based solely on large volume..Assuming the market is truly an efficient one and regulators alive to their resoonsibility, price movement would largely be driven by unexpected information reflecting investors reaction to it... 2 Likes 1 Share |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by megainvest: 10:05pm On Feb 27, 2016 |
Coolcash1: The rules are simple. Let me help out. The price changed because someone was willing to buy up the offers including at least 10,000 units of SEPLAT at N340. Note that for high priced stocks, prices change when you trade 10,000 units of the stock at a price different from the previous price. If you check well, you will see that FO price did not change with the volume because the trade price was not different. If you read what I wrote earlier again, you will see that I didn't just mention 'large volumes' alone, I also added 'at predetermined prices'. The volume and the price go together. I chose those words carefully. People fear what they don't understand and hate what they cannot conquer. Read the rules again and you will get the picture clearly. 5 Likes 1 Share |

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-02-23/saudi-arabia-to-u-s-oilmen-cut-costs-or-get-out-of-business The worlds most powerful oilman brought a harsh message to Houston for executives hoping for a rescue from low prices: high-cost producers -- many of them sitting in the room -- need to either lower costs, borrow cash or liquidate." "It sounds harsh, and unfortunately it is, but it is the most efficient way to rebalance markets," The freeze agreement isnt "cutting production. That is not going to happen," Naimi said.
