iblawi: Burundi was at peace and pacified when we left - mission accomplished CAR was a training mission, which became impossible to complete after the Seleka takeover - no mission to accomplish. We were never there to stabilize the country, so your argument is fallacious. And the Sudan is a waste of time, I fail to see how us withdrawing reflects negatively on us. There is nothing wrong with the SANDF re-deploying troops to maximise effectiveness and to reflect regional needs. Need I remind you that we are short of men for Operation Corona and that our commitment to the ASF has further strained budgets and manpower. Furthermore, this reflects the implementation of Mile-Stone 1 of the Defence Reveiw, namely the re-balancing of the SANDF. Whilst our operations in Lesotho and DRC are highly successful as well as Burundi, and our DRC deployment is the most "difficult" UN deployment on earth and it remains a deployment we are heavily committed to. The DRC army would write that about us, since they are so happy with the work we have done training them. I believe they are about to renew the agreement. I find your comments to be unfair and driven by emotion rather than logic. SANDF survival training 4 Likes

africaken254: *We cannot just produce a documentary of what we've produced, we in Africa aren't yet media savvy. Let me take up the challenge and go first with Nigeria. Nigeria produces a decent amount of defence equipment, some of which are Drones, Midshore Patrol Vessels, inshore patrol boats, Rockets and Pods, LAPV's, LAV's, MRAP's, FARAWA light trainer aircraft, Personnel kits, Ammo, MG's, Mortars, Rifles. Igirigi, Proforce range of Armoured vehicles, Gulma & Ichoku drones, DICON kits, Andoni SDB's are the most popular products. However, I'll love to highlight the NNS Andoni II, built by the Naval Engineering Services Limited, a subsidiary of the Nigeria navy. NNS Andoni II is approx. 40 meters in length, it's a Midshore Patrol Vessel. Here are photos of NNS Andoni II during production. 1 Like

"Jan Wessels, Denel Group COO, said that Rooivalk production is “inevitable” and called on potential partners to join in the programme. Funding has been made available from Denel Aviation to proceed with upgrading the Rooivalk and the company has brought back the Rooivalk jigs in anticipation of producing the Mk 2." 6 Likes

Some good news for Nigeria "He said his company generated two million dollars from the export of armoured vehicles to Rwanda, Central Africa Republic and South Sudan in 2015. ``I believe that we can achieve times ten of this our earning in 2016 based on the present placement of order occasioned by the ongoing war in some African countries,’’ he said. He said the company had the capacity to produce 480 armoured vehicles per annum with plans for expansion in three of its factories across Nigeria." 7 Likes
