The Emir and the Kano Emirate Council handled this case very badly. There shouldn't have been much debate when someone "converts" a child (under 18) to another religion and marry her. This shouldn't be condoned, and the Emir should have pressed the case for her return, and for the inculpation of Yinusa.

Besides, as an outsider from Nigeria, it is strange that the police would defer to the Kano Emirate Council on this case. Is there a legal provision for that? What is the utility of the Governor of Kano State? Why nobody tried to reach him or his office, during these last 7 months?

Second, it's obvious that there are still shades to this story. There was a straight link between Ese and Yinusa, when her disappearance was noticed in Bayelsa. Why is that? Why was Yinusa was rightly considered as behind Ese's disappearance as soon as it was noticed? This is my opinion and it may be worth what it is worth, but there's manifestly a history, as devious as it is, between little Ese and Yinusa, and the mother was well aware of it. It doesn't justify the abduction, but Ese, in her childishness, might have decided to "elope" with Yelloww.

And to conclude, I think it is a big stretch from the mother and a dent to her credibility to declare that the Emir of Kano had jeeps, houses and cars, for all those youth who were ready to abduct, "convert" and marry Christian girls. I really don't know what exactly we all are after in this particular issue. Whether there was a promise of anything or not, the fact remains that the lil girl was taken away from her home without any information for her parents and was made pregnant afterwards.

After thorougly read and analysed Mrs Oruru interview as presented here, i dont need a soothsayer to tell me that there was a form of intimate relationship between Mrs Oruru daughter, Ese and Yinusa before Yinusa decided to elope with her to Kano!
