state of redidence kano, state of origin kaduna, i like the yorubas for their creativity and hard work while the igbos for their friendliness, seriousness to acheive in life thats why you see the in almost all the villages in these lovely country which brings me to the issue/problem of the north, most not all of our youths are lazy and afraid to venture out of their comfort zone and proud for nothing, See the vast land we have for cultivation but no. The other side of our problem is the leadership and those that call themselves statemen the manage to foster division base on religion,tribe, the state in the north or the town you came from ettc. Northern Nigeria is divided against itself. We should preach against the ills i mention for us to move forward. We have nothing to show for the long years we ruled this great country, its a shame.

I have a lot of friends from other regions, having spent most of my life in lagos, kaduna and served (nysc) in Uyo. So i use beautiful memories from the gud friends to reflect on the ibos and yoruba av encountered.

However, a number of people from all regions are suffering from nepotism and bigotry which has beclouded them from appreciating the beauty of our diversity n togetherness.

Major problem of the North? RELIGION. I wish the entire North is mono-religious or non-religious. Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, etc any religion is fine by me.

I love the Yorubas. My mother is half Yoruba. Yorubas are easy going people.

I love Ibos (Igbos). Ibos are very supportive of one another and they are very very hardworking.

I think the problem with the north is its bad image. I left the north when I was a baby. I don't know how things are there. I only hear terrible tales and people stereotype northerners based on these tales of violence, religious intolerance and poverty.

This good thread from fiiznation is one way for people to see that not all northerners are murderers and tribalists or religious fanatics.

Having stayed in the east for a while now, it's safe to say that there's a misrepresentation of the Igbo image online, especially here on nairaland. Contrary to what most people think, a vast majority of Igbos are friendly and worry only about how to better their lots. They are not as hateful & begrudging, and bear no ill will towards anyone. They are adventurous, hardworking, and persevering.

The Yorubas for me, are excellence personified. You could count up to 5 rights about them before you find a fault.

The Hausas are nice, accommodating, friendly, helpful and hospitable.


NB: there's nothing I'd like more than for us all to preach tolerance to everyone. The volatility of the North is what drives investors away, especially religious intolerance. We are our own problem. Education is key. The potentials are there, no doubt, but we ought to rewrite our history, redefine our paths and seek better alternatives than resort to any vice at all.

My favorite Hausa dish is Dan Wake, The most positive thing I love about the Igbos is their zeal to for education. I initially believe the Yorubas are the most educated tribe in Nigeria, but I later came to find out that the Igbos are far more educated than the Yorubas.

On the other hand, I love the Yorubas more than any ethnic group, Infact if I have a second chance of coming back as a Nigerian, I did choose the Yoruba as my ethnic group before Hausa. The Yorubas are far the most advanced, civilized and sophisticated ethnic group in Nigeria, their tolerant nature and ability to cohibit peacefully amongst themselves despite having an almost equal number of Christians and Muslims is one trait that makes them unique.

The problem of the north is our lack of Western education, we are perhaps the most hated ethnic group in Nigeria because of what some few misguided ones amongst do.

I love igbos for their hustle are are less tribal and tolerance I live in enugu and learnt that an igbo man will not just support his brother blindly against another tribe no mata what, he blames his brother openly when he is wrong

The problem in the north is failed leadership which has lead to purverty illiteracy other tribes are not happy because it seems we are born to rule but in reality we bear much of the burden of failed leadership, our leaders are more for themselves and their families and friends
