State of origin... Niger,, buh I was born and brought up in kaduna.. I hardly comment on diz forum coz of d hate speeches which is usually aimed at the northerners about pple who know nufin about north.. At first,, I felt bad about diz comments buh gradually I learnt to ignore and sumtyms even Laff at d hateful comments..
Pple from oda part of nigeria alys stereotype we northerners as illiterates who dunno how to speak ,, talkless of to write in English... I fink dey are jst ignorant..
Anyways,, major problems here in d north include illiteracy, poverty and d failure to implement family planng and also "kwaruption" (in baba'a voice)..
I lyk d igbos coz obviously dey are hustlers and d Yorubas coz dey seem very respectful,, atleast d ones I've cum across so far...
Your written English is very bad for instance. Is that how you write in an exam? That stereotype might be right afterall.

Please, when you people go about promoting hatred and religious intolerance, stating things like "Fulanis are on rampage because one of theirs is the president", DON'T MENTION MY Moniker. I am not interested.

The Fulani problem predates the current government. The worse we ever witnessed in the State took place under Jonathan's regime, when thousands from Naka, Guma and Nasarawa axis flooded Makurdi after being displaced from their villages. Was Jonathan a Fulani man??

Please, keep me out of that nonsense.

Thanks.

Islam does not allow them to give their muslim daughters to christians but encourages them to TAKE christian women and make them baby factories for muslim children. They see it as a way to conquer Christians. My hausa/fulani friends preach this in their mosques.

But does Islam allows a christian who wishes to convert to muslim for the sake of the love he has for the yariya(beautiful girl) get married to her(muslim)?

Region/State: NC/ Niger state.

I am Nupe, from Niger state, though I can't speak the language. *sigh*
I was born and raised in Lagos, and as a result, I am very de-tribalised. It also helps that my mum is Igbo from Delta state.

I am very pan-Nigerian because I have been almost everywhere in the country(my father was in in military). We are such a great and unique people, with a great country. Only we can salvage it! This is a great step.

Problem of the North? That's so easy-RELIGION! Address this, and things will start to change. I found this out when I was moved to Abuja for my secondary education.

There is hope! Things can change.

FRONT PAGE, PLEASE!

I'm from Kogi in NC and Ebira by tribe.
Favourite dish Apapaa (made from beans).
I love the Yorubas for their creativity and love for learning.
I love the Igbos for their hustling spirit.
I love the Hausas and Fulanis for their administrative prowess.
The problem most prevalent in the North is that they don't informed others about their success stories which leads to mass stereotyping and gross misrepresentation of facts.
bro at the bolden, u deserve 1000 likes for that, that is the number one problem of the north, they fail to propagate their numerous achievements to the world, hence, the conclusion that nothing good is hapening there and the misrepresentation by some nitwitz that have never stepout of their vilages in their entire life.

I'm from Sokoto State in the North West, resident in the diaspora, and I'm a product of our diversity as my mother is from Edo State, which has allowed me to explore all regions of this country and blessed me with a broader perspective. My favorite meal is Masa with vegetable soup and man shanu.

I love Yorubas for their tolerance and academic prowess, while I like ibos for their enterprising nature.

I think the problem in the North is mostly religious intolerance and corrupt leadership. The understatement of our achievements and successes, as well as our indifference to negative stereotypes also contributes to the unpleasant perception held by some Nigerians regarding the North.

Kudos to the OP and the mods for a sane and beautiful thread.

Mullah here, guess am one of ma own kind.

state: Yobe

LGA: Potiskum

region: north east

I love rice with stew, pounded yam (although not of our origin).

Yoruba, they are disciplined and hardworking, i love that.

IGBO: Industrious and determined, i admire them.

The problem of the north is a genesis of its own creation.

To the leaders who loot us dry, may Allah (swt) punish them accordingly.

State: Plateau, North Central, Nigeria.

State of Residence: Anambra (Awka).

Having stayed in the east for a while now, it's safe to say that there's a misrepresentation of the Igbo image online, especially here on nairaland. Contrary to what most people think, a vast majority of Igbos are friendly and worry only about how to better their lots. They are not as hateful & begrudging, and bear no ill will towards anyone. They are adventurous, hardworking, and persevering.

The Yorubas for me, are excellence personified. You could count up to 5 rights about them before you find a fault.

The Hausas are nice, accommodating, friendly, helpful and hospitable.

NB: there's nothing I'd like more than for us all to preach tolerance to everyone. The volatility of the North is what drives investors away, especially religious intolerance. We are our own problem. Education is key. The potentials are there, no doubt, but we ought to rewrite our history, redefine our paths and seek better alternatives than resort to any vice at all.

You are a clear example why northerners should be educated. Education, Exposure and enlightenment are the keys to rational thinking.

NB.. pls, Im begging all fulanis/Northerners on NL to help connect me with a fulani lady. I want to marry one.

You're derailing the thread. It costs you nothing to reason before you post. Bad thing is, you seem soundly educated, yet, look how unthoughtful your comment was. Intolerance is why the north is as it is today. Please try putting humanity first before any subscriptions or allegiance to regions and persons.
I did not know we have mature northerners like you on this forum. No wonder my brothers in the north have refused to come back home.

Am from the north central state of kogi but born, bred and buttered in kaduna..so far my best dish is freshly baked masa or waina with beefed up moringa stew... Not that I don't like d yorubas but I prefer staying with the igbos becos they are just ruggedly cool in a swaggy kinda way.
However my problem with the north is the hypocrasy of our leaders n how they play on the intelligence or ignorance as d case may be of the talakawas..its soooo unfair. Secondly, I also wish northerners would make the dominant religion here a secondary part of life instead of the primary importance given to it..we shud remember that we are born humans first before any other thing like tribe and religion..
In essence I hope that the northern matasa would wake to see the hypocrisy of the leaders here n install people who have other people at heart as how leaders..I also hope that other northern states would emulate governor el rufai's new law at regulating the affairs of religious bodies..that would go a long way towards fixing many ills currently affecting the north.

North west
Katsina State
My favourite food is koko with kosai in the morning, jollof beans in the afternoon and tuwon dawa with kuka soup in the evening.
I like Yoruba for their tolerance and friendly. On other hand, I like Igbo for their hard working and entrepreneurial.
I believe the problem of the north is lack of advertising its achievement. Secondly, over dependent on local language when it come in publication.
