It could all be attributed to driver's error, misjudgment or inexperience. You should be able to handle a tyre blow out if not doing a excess of 120kmph. Stepping on the brakes suddenly after that would surely make one lose control of the vehicle. I'm sure he slammed on the brakes after the blow out at a very high speed.
