patches689: not an insult if it's true you know. i knew you would bring up chad cameroon issue. is it not you? i hope yo are enlightened enough to know about the MNJTF and it's AOR which includes boarder communities of the contributing states. so yes. you lie when you ignore that fact just to back your falsehood. i wonder how bringing up facts to prove your media lied is seen as an emotional outburst to you. this is not an issue to be discussed. it'll be political suicide if any government permits it. don't give us a Nigerian view from a south african perspective 5 Likes |

iblawi: They still operate on Nigerian soil (Ie;Dikwa is 113km from the Chadian border), which goes to the point that foriegn troops have deployed to and operated on your soil. So saying that they could potentially do so again is not unrealistic. Yes, that was may plan (hence my use of modal verbs in the future tense). But the very mention of the potential of SF deploying elicited such astounding vitriol!! Tanzanian IFV, South African MRAP and Congolese truck headed to the front

patches689: I'm going to get in on this to let readers know how not to take your opinions seriously since they are always clouded with lies. And it's military related and I'm bored First of all, a little education on the MNJTF since you are clearly ignorant about it. The task force was first organised as a solely Nigerian force in 1994, during the administration of Sani Abacha, to "checkmate banditry activities and to facilitate free movement" along its northern border.[1][2] In 1998 it was expanded to include units from neighbouring Chad and Niger with the purpose of dealing with common cross-border security issues in the Lake Chad region, with its headquarters in the town of Baga, Borno State.[2] With HQ was in Baga. A Nigerian border town. Please educate yourself And yet again @patches you lie. The Chadians Are not on Nigerian soil. They played their part as a member of the MNJTF and were asked to withdraw because what they claimed was false. Following report that Chadian troops are withdrawing from Nigeria before it was later alleged that, it was Nigerian authorities that asked them to leave Dakiwa, a town in Borno State that was reportedly reclaimed from Boko Haram by Chadian troops, some concerned Nigerians have negatively reacted to government’s decision.https://www.naij.com/401977-insurgency-nigerians-react-to-chadian-troops-withdrawal.html We went in and finished the job with pictoral evidence that we did. (something the media and chadians couldn't provide despite their claims) https://www.naij.com/499081-photos-nigerian-army-dislodge-boko-haram-members-dikwa-borno-state.html And patches, DIKWA IS A BORDER TOWN WHICH FALLS IN THE AOR OF THE MNJTF More than three weeks after the Nigerian military issued a statement saying it had recaptured Dikwa, a border town in Borno state,http://icirnigeria.org/nigerian-military-rids-dikwa-of-boko-haram-insurgents/ Stop trying to misconstrue the activities of the MNJTF to Back your fallacy. The MNJTF have always operated across the borders of the contributing states. Now that Cameroon has joined in we have seen pics of Nigerian troops on Cameroonian border towns as well. My response to your lies is for other readers to know the facts. So feel free to prove otherwise (of course not with your personal flawed opinions) Pic: Nigerian Army SF with Cameroonian counterparts working across the border as members of MNJTF 8 Likes

patches689:113 kilometers from chad's capital not to Nigerian border. Dikwa is a town very close to our border. For God's sake Lagos to Accra Ghana is only 450 km (two countries away) so tell US how a border town will be 113km from the border. You read too many fake news. 3 Likes

patches689: No you clown. It's not your typo error that matters here. It's the fact that you keep trying to justify a false media report despite that I have provided original press releases that proves it. And your attempt to do that with more falsehood makes my response to you appropriate. Sorry guys.. I'm going to stop now since I've made my point 6 Likes |

africaken254: If it were to happen, I assume it would be small. How expensive could it be to keep 20-50 guys in country for a couple months? Just for reference, our entire deployment to the DRC (over a thousand guys, dozens of MRAPs, a couple or Oryx and 3 Rooivalk) only cost $10 mill (a year I assume). http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=34824:sa-soldiers-and-equipment-in-drc-set-to-earn-r100-million-for-national-treasury&catid=111:sa-defence&Itemid=242

SAAF budget gets slashed - SA Army budget gets big boost: This sees its budget for the 2016/17 financial year increased by just under half a billion Rand to R15 651 438 000 from the R15 202 376 000 voted to it by National Treasury in the previous financial year. Thrilled to see OP Cornona taking off and giving the Reserves something to do.

On the recent controversy, here's the official position of the SANDF The SA National Defence Force (SANDF) on Wednesday [March 9] dismissed reports that it would send troops to Nigeria to help fight Boko Haram. “There is no such decision to send any military elements by the RSA to assist with the fight against Boko Haram,” spokesperson Siphiwe Dlamini said. African news website Daily Nation reported that President Jacob Zuma had arrived in Nigeria to “seal a deal” on the deployment of South African special forces to fight the Islamic extremist group. Zuma is on a two-day state visit to that country. Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula met her Nigerian counterpart Mansur Dan Ali earlier this week, reportedly to finalise modalities for the deployment. In a statement following talks with Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, Zuma said the two reiterated the need for joint regional and continental efforts to combat terrorism and extremist groups. “Considering our commitment to finding African solutions to African problems, we have agreed to work together to deal with these challenges,” Zuma said. “We condemn in the strongest possible terms all forms of extremism". |
