Abuja - The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has revealed that the driver of the late Minister of State for Labour, James Ocholi had no valid driver's license.
The agency on Wednesday submitted an interim report to the Federal Executive Council on the crash that killed Minister of State for Labour James Ocholi, his wife and son.

FRSC Corps Marshall Boboye Oyeyemi, who presented the report, said the investigation team discovered that over speeding led to the accident which occurred Sunday on the Kaduna-Abuja Road.

Oyeyemi told the Federal Executive Council that the investigation also showed that Ocholi's driver had no licence.
President Buhari as well as the Ministers of Labour, Agriculture, Water Resources, State for Health, State for Niger Delta, State for Foreign Affairs paid glowing tributes to the late minister.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal said the president had approved that the burial "is government affair".

He said a 13-man burial committee chaired by himself had been set up with Ministers of Labour, Health, Water Resources and Trade and Investment as members.

Other members of the committee include Ocholi's sister and brother, Kogi State deputy governor.

True. Just like FG giving automatic employment to Ocholi's son not minding whether he is qualified or not.

Abeg make una allow the souls of the departed rest in peace. What has been destined to be will surely come to manifestation. Even if he has driver's licence or not, can that bring the departed souls back to life. All I pray for is God's protection upon us all that are still alive. May we not perish with all our generations and all our labours in life. What a vain life we live in. So many souls lost their lives on our express road. This is a call on the governement to do something about our roads and drivers to know that over speeding kills. SHALOM

why did they just discover that now? The information is of no use. If it was a common man driving is car without driver's license, road safety officials would have frustrated him.

How many FRSC officers have a driver's license, what police officers, no police officer has a license.

If the driver was over speeding, The minister was supposed to caution him.

They should not hang the minister's death on the poor driver

Does having a Driver's license qualify someone to be a good driver in a country like Nigeria, where even a cripple can be issued Driver's license after some "settlements". I got my first Driver's license when I never knew how to drive just because I needed it as an ID Card for business transactions. This is not an excuse in a crazy clime like Nigeria. It was his time to die whether Driver's License or no driver's license.
it is not his time to die , how could it be ? , this is the best of his life ...go and tell him family that that it is time to die

the accident was just an unfortunate incident ..maybe it could have been prevented if your ineffectual nation and leaders had created other means of transport or created good roads ...

i once read of a taxi driver in kaduna or kano state(i cant remember which of the two state precisely) who had epilepsy and yet was issued a drivers licence. the guy got an epilepsy seizure while driving one day and caused an accident that cost people their lives. is it not this same FRSC that issued him his licence?what about that !

But one would expect a minister's driver to be vetted to a good degree. If no valid or no licence at all, then he was driving illegally.

Is that acceptable at such a high level?

Let's be honest please. Due process is one thing we have so much disregard for. But it's necessary in a civilised society.

This is a proper lie, there is no way such a driver would not have a drivers license. I can only agree it has expired and not yet renewed.

In this case, if true, DSS, FRSC, the late minister and the driver didn't do well.

Hey Mr, it wasn't his time to die. Man's Free will action led to his sudden death and not fate/destiny like u'v stated. Why do you run to the hospital/chemist when you are sick? Why didn't you sit down and let fate take its cause on your sick bed Why rush & treat yourself? Lemme have you note that, If that man had put on a seat-belt, if the car wasn't over-speeding. If that car was on a gentle cruise of 60-70km/h. That man wouldn't have died. We are fond of relating evil things to God. If your child comes back with a poor result from school, you'll obviously scream & shout. Whereas you could have just smiled & say fate/destiny is playing out in your childs life. Smh! #Destiny vs Freewill #Debate for all.
