ijustdey: The same arguement in all major towns and cities that tried to ban Okada but these arguements don't hold water why Okadas should not be banned. Let's try embrace decency for once. Port-Harcourt,Warri to name a few banned Okada successfully from it's metropolis. Lagos can do same. 1 Like 1 Share |

ijustdey: why people in New york not rendered jobless?. Nigerians like you with low brain just want to remain backward. wake up, this is 2016. EVERYTHING IS NOT EXCUSE. If it happen, the yellow buses and okoda will be operating on streets, small roads and villages. Even in world class cities like Beijing, Bangkok, Hong kong, they still use old fashioned transport system like pick-up, tricycle, bike in a civilized manner. |

Maybe I have comprehension issue but I didn't read anything mentioning danfo. The article only discussed about okadas. I was going through the comments and I was wondering if we read the same article. In any case, the ban on okada is long overdue. They are reckless and unruly. 2 Likes |

i am beginning to understand why yorubas can be master strategist. this policy is nothing other than a way to send all the aboki that gave dem red eye back to sokoto. after all, yorubas hardly drive okadas now. next will be kole kole, then a ban on mai tea/ mai suya. ndi ahu na ara ofe ahu di ka mmanu, na amamihe ha. 1 Like |

NextGovernor: Gentle man, there is nothing like common man. You are either a sensible and responsible person or not. People should not always cook up sentiments with the notion of being concerned about the lower economic class. If you are concerned about the "common man", why do you always want to condemn them to accepting only the substandard lifestyle. they have the right to enjoy a sane environment too. Now about the issue in question, it took strong men like El Rufai, Ohakim etc to standard by their conviction and banned the operation of Okada. The so called common man is enjoying the serenity of Abuja today. Even when the talk about stopping small buses in Abuja came up, some people said it will not work. But behold, abuja is clean without the craze of miscreants. That is what a modern city should be like, not like the den of rascals. 1 Like |

Ban if u want. I want to know what alternative you've got. As cheap and conducive as BRT is, pple still prefer danfo..day in, night out |
Re: Lagos To Phase Out Motorcycles, Danfo –investigation by olaolaking: 4:58pm On Mar 21, 2016 |
I think this idea started with Fash regime. They will not outrightly put the buses away. But many of them will be challenged to improve to the standard set and those who can not meet up will withdraw from the service. I think government also plan to bring fierce competition to the sector |

freeze001:Keke is an alternative. If you are conversant with Ikorodu road, you don't need second thought not to support government on this. Have you seen where Okada riders play death game trying to manoeuvre BRT buses along Mile 12 Ikorodu road. They ride with full wreckless abandoned. They take too much risk even when carrying passengers. It's too annoying when people say things that lack concrete evidence. What remains as we talk now is public announcement. I work in government transport agency and I can assure you of this ban very soon. |

Mr Ambode, you are the one that will take your own bare hands and spoil Lagos. You collapsed Igbo's shops, you sent Hausa marketers away, and now you are proposing to drive away Okada riders. As far as I can tell, the Okada's know their boundary on major express roads as you barely see them. If you go to neighboring Cotonou where there are more bikes than cars, you would know that it's possible to modernize and live in harmony with the usual. The best thing I suggest that you do is to create routes for Okada's like they do in Cotonou and enforce the use of helmets for both riders. In fact, a route for Okada's alone will ensure people get to office faster. |
