Please my wife is just about 5 weeks pregnant, she's been having malarial symptoms, all the prescribed drugs had instructions that they should be avoided in first trimester.

I'm really worried, can any experienced person help out? If untreated, will the malaria phase out? Waiting till 2nd trimester is really a long trip.

Help please.

Furthermore, the clinics say antenatals start in the 3rd/4th month... So where else can we get counsel?

Malaria in pregnancy should never be left untreated. Her gyn is suppose to treat the malaria and get it off her system. I had it too at 5 weeks and i was given quinine through IV. I hope she registered in a good hospital?

The fact that she hasn't started antenatal doesn't mean the hospital cannot care for any pregnancy-related issue she has. Let her visit a gynaecologist and he'll prescribe the appropriate treatment. It won't phase out.

NB: Did she do a malaria test before concluding its malaria? undecided
Malaria symptoms are part of the regular pregnancy symptoms for some women o. So i hope she has confirmed its malaria?

The 'malaria symptoms' your wife is experiencing are usually just early signs of pregnancy. Headache, slightly high temperature, sometimes shivering, nausea etc..they are all signs of early pregnancy.
She has to go to the hospital to see a gynaecologist (she doesn't need to register for antenatal to see one) and tests be done to confirm she truly has malaria. If she does, which I doubt, then appropriate medication would be prescribed. Please do not self medicate on antimalarial drugs!

Some HMO's insist on having women wait till about 12weeks(3months) to register for antenatal... If you are paying out of pocket for it, I believe there are hospitals that would accept 8weeks for registration.

She should just ensure she takes her prenatal supplements and eat well. She would be fine.

I lost my mucus plug on Saturday meanwhile ve been telling my Dr that I want to be induced @ 36 weeks because of aches n maximum discomfort. They agreed because scan confirmed that the baby is big meanwhile I had my first @ exactly 37weeks, so already my.babies are early. Got to hospital on Monday for d scheduled induction n Dr checked me n said I was already in labour which I know cos I was having contraction that morning, they said I should wait till Tuesday to know what my body can do on its own as I was already 3cm dilated.
Tuesday mor still 4cm around 9.45 they inserted one tablet after they ruptured d water n said I should not get up until 45mins. Before I knw it contraction started in full force. Around 2pm I was begin Dr for epidural but he said its not obtainable in Nigeria that I can go for CS if I cannot bear d pain because d baby is big. Called my husband he said he was around the corner. I had to call my sis who's a Dr to confirm what my Dr told me about epidural n she said the same thing.
At 3pm I was telling them I was ready for Cs that my husband will soon get to the hospital. They took me for examination n found out that water was still remaining so the metron ruptured it again by then I was 6-7cm. My husband entered was consoling me, they said I should walk about but I kept shouting no waist. Madam Ur doing well just walk about 'no waist". At that moment I was shouting that they should deliver me by any means or stop d contraction they way they started it. My husband went to discuss with Dr n he said they'll check me again by 4.30pm that I would ve been OK by then. 3.30pm I was shouting begging my husband to call Dr, immediately Dr came I shouted at him to stop d contraction or deliver me in whatever means that I could not bear d pain anymore. See my husband begging with Dr its just Labor pain bla bla bla. I was not listening to any body again meanwhile I was seating down all these while because there's no waist to move again. I held the Dr on belt n said I won't release him until he stops the contraction that was how they took meto d delivery room around to 4pm Dr shouted that I was 10 cm that the Metron should come.
Pushing started, they said push before I new d Dr has given me episiotomy, after like 5/10mins of pushing my girl was born to d glory of d Lord. See shout in d Labor room that d baby is big but me I was not surprised because I'm used to that size of babies in my family.
