From the quality of the picture, it's easy to conclude that the OP is far from the hearing distance of the scenery,so little details is deducible here without the conversation records. That the man was on his knee begging doesn't necessarily mean that he's begging for money. He might be begging for forgiveness, the possibility of them been acquainted cannot be ruled out.

As you celerate this Easter wining an dinning, please remember that there are some human beings who are facing the most humiliating level of poverty and who need your help. A Newseveryhour.com reader sent in the photos and shares his encounter..

"Please don't mind my poor photography. I just have to share this. This is the height of humiliation I have seen. Poverty is not good. Last night, I was coming from work and saw this man at the traffic around the overhead bridge close to the Lekki Toll gate and adjacent the Oriental Hotel. I saw this man as he suddenly walked Close to an apparently rich man waiting in his posh car at the traffic light. He kneeled down there in the middle of the busy express road and started begging him for money. I felt bad as I couldn't just stop wondering what level of poverty could make a man this able to go on his knees publicly on the road to start begging a fellow man for money."

Real men don't beg , they use their brain and do and undo to at least put food on their table.
I'd rather die than beg like this.
No matter the level of poverty , rethink your value system and make your own scale of preference and make do with your current situation and live according to the way you find yourself.
There is dignity in labour no matter how odd .
Truckpusher you are absolutely right on that. No way in this world should able body begs for money.

Op... I can't recall how many times i have seen that guy in that same spot begging for money, not once and not even ten times. He is always there kneeling down and begging for money from people who are waiting for the traffic light pass them. Please ignore him whenever you come across his likes there. He is also not alone there although i haven't been seeing the second guy lately.

Again there're so many hausa's about seven to eight yrs old within that area begging for money and at night some of them count their earnings which is compressed inside poly-bag. I used to see them all the time beside the over head-bridge stairs.

If few cripple can think of selling pure-water, tissue paper, cotton wool, pencil, marker, bottle water and so on just for them to earn something even if it is little, then that guy don't have any excuse to venture into selling handkerchief to earn him money. How old is he that he can't go to where construction is going on around Atlantic Beach Estate just about 15min walk to the site. There are so many people working there as a laborer and you'll see females carrying head-pan filled with mixed cement up and them.

There are still few jobs out there for folks like him if he really wants to work. Stop helping people who will turn to criminal if you stop given them money.

Happy Sunday!

In as much as I don't condone begging, there are some hopeless situations you would find yourself you would loose all sense of dignity and the only thing on your mind is how to solve your problem.

We have all thrown our dignity away and begged at one point or another, the mode is what makes the difference.

I once knelt, hell!!! I even lay on the floor to beg a professor.
No be money u beg am 4 na!

Nor be, "Pls let my ppl go" u beg am 4? grin

Things are really very hard but instead of begging there are things he could decide to do.

There was a time a guy came to me in front of my office that can he wash my car ? i asked why ?

He said it was dirty and he was hungry. i told him to go ahead.

He washed and i gave him 5k.

I have bought several face towels for 1k from disabled on the Island. even though i dnt use them for anytin.

Giving a beggers alms is as led by my spirit. Roll in front of my tyre, i will reverse and change course.

God bless u!

Dat's d best way of positively contributin to one's survival, somethin of #20, u pay more 4 it jez to encourage d seller. smiley

Before criticizing, think...

Yeah pics do say a thousand words, but
How can we be so sure from this pic alone that the kneeling guy was actually begging for money?

What if he was begging a striking doctor to help save the life of his dying son? (Just an example ; there are other possibilities)

Life could be cruel sometimes.

Most people who are routing that area knew him too well. Sometimes he selects car before approaching them... I have never seen him beg from people won't ain't driving nice cars.. I may be wrong though...

Again, I hope people will stop given him money because they ain't helping his situation but they're making it worse. @18 he should be active to do something meaningful not begging..

bro lets paint a scenario... you are on a journey and you were robbed of your wallet with all your cash, atm and phone as well and you are still far from your destination... what will you do
At a certain stage in life you should be able to meet people and tell them your situation and if you do it right Nigerians will always help.

If you find yourself in such a situation , meet someone and borrow a phone to make one simple phone call or if the situation is that bad , you can always get a car to take you to wherever you are sure you'll sort out yourself and pay the bills.
Always be proactive and plan your journey you'll never be stranded and if it does happen, you will be free from your worries in a little time.

How did the Op know the man was begging for money?.... Was he begging every motorist that passed?.... has anyone else seen this man begging before?.... could it just be a man profusely begging someone he knows for a life saving favour?

So, if this is how he receives instructions everday, then there is nothing covert about this operation oo.
