Mamas that have nannies, how much do you pay them monthly and what do they do for you i.e. the nature of jobs they do? Thanks |

Pacypatty: Please dont use Skineal on your baby. It contains steriods and is absorbed into the organs.. U can use Baby Tribotan Instead. In another news, God just blessed us with a wonderful set of twins. Please i will really appreciate contributions on how to adequately care for them. Thanks 19 Likes |

NoQualms1: Your enquiry is quite open ended and you'd get a broad range of answers. At the end of the day you'd have to find what works for your and your family. Maids/nannies/helps Can be paid anything from 5000 to 40000. It depends on your location, source and their level of professionalism. Some are really professional and your literally just sit around and the children are well cared for. These types wont do house chores just caring for the baby. Some combine house chores with caring for baby plus cooking. It all depends on the household and their mode of operation. You can decide to do a chore list if your maid is literate and somewhat professional. You can have the chore list and guide the semi literate maid through the chores. If you have the stark illiterate ones God help you. They may or may not grasp fast but you will have to supervise everything because ..... They're illiterate and don't know why you have to wash hands after using the loo for eg! In all pray hard and follow your intuition. You will have to overlook excesses too as long as the job is getting done. Be careful not to overload them.with chores if baby care is involved. Id advise you ensure adequate security of they'll have to be home alone with the children to avoid abuse and God forbid kidnap. Keep your own valuables safe. Treat them well for your own conscience's sakes too! Good luck 11 Likes |

Faith111: Congratulations on the bundles of joy! I don't have multiples but I can only advise that you develop a schedule or routine and try to follow it strictly. Accept all the offers of help you'll get from friends and family it'll be much needed. Bulk cook as much as you can and plan meals for the week so that is doesn't add to the stress of caring for the babies. For the schedule try and be as practical as possible and leave a little allowance for days where the twins aren't cooperating. You can do laundry while they're asleep before you get a short snooze too. Time their meals to make it easier for you Hope this helps |

happymama: You can start at exactly six months if you want. Start with something light like cerelac or good old pap. Gerber has a range of cereals for that age. Just do some market research to find what works for your pocket buy one tin at a time till you find what baby likes. Use spoon and/or bottle till you find a rhythm that works for you. |

NoQualms1: I have had the same nanny for 5 years now, but recently had to let her go. Her duties were purely taking care of the kids. At first, she had only one baby to care for, then two and finally, three. Each time I had a new baby, the new baby became her priority. At no time was she ever alone with my kids. I enrolled my babies in crèche from 6 months, she was also going to the crèche with the baby. The management had instructions from me, to never allow her out with the baby. However, she was free to go out, if necessary, alone. Her off days were every other weekend. Her start up salary was 20k, it kept increasing with successive births and peaked at 50k. Hope this helps 5 Likes |

maran1983: I hope you don't mind but your post just made me realise how much we sometimes have to pay as child care costs around here! I imagine you also had someone to do the house chores in addition to nanny's fees and creche fees. This is probably because one cant fully entrust the children into nanny's hands alone, for security and abuse reasons. Makes me wonder if we mums should bother being in paid employment with children below secondary school age! 3 Likes 1 Share |

babythug: Honestly there should be an option of paid reduced hours or compensation for mothers at home but Nigeria is actually very anti-family and once you decide to stay home, your gist may end up in NL Family section as a topic 6 Likes |

Thanks babythug, I've not made up my mind yet on the approach I'll take, that's why I want to hear the opinion of other mamas. @maran1983, thanks for the response. I don't think it will be possible for the nanny to never be alone in my case. I'll try my best though. |
