So sad, who among us would have rendered help if he or she met this man a day before his demise?

Just thinking aloud.

The blood of this man is on the head of ALL POLITICIANS who stole our common wealth and made social security impossible in this horrible cage called Nigeria
Re: Evicted Tenant Dies At Calabar Bus Stop (photo) by thesicilian: 5:22pm On Mar 30, 2016
It is not the landlord's fault - nobody built his house for him and his house rents may be his only source of livelihood

It is not the police's fault - what would you expect them to do? Force the landlord to take him back to continue to live there rent-free, feed him and pay his medical bills?

The blame goes to:
1. The man himself - for not planning properly for his old age.
2. His children & immediate family - for abandoning him when he needed them most, after he had most likely sacrificed his youth to take care of them
3. The government - for looting our national treasury for their own selfish aims instead of providing health and housing insurance for the poor and needy.

Ummm, not really. Landlords generally evict their tenants if they do NOT pay their rent. A house is an investment, a landlord is NOT a charity. Try imagining paying a mortgage on a house you're not receiving a return on.

Ur absolutely correct

I cannot blame the kids I don't know, don't expect kids you never cared for to care for you, father or not. He might not even have kids to start with, only God knows his story. Everything said here is based on assumption, RIP to the dead.

Wicked Landlords will never end well. Amen

Why would you tag the landlord as wicked?

He has a right to get a return on his investment. As for the old man saying his landlord brought him to that bus stop, I doubt that's strictly true. It's all well and good getting emotional over the old man's death, but as I stated previously, a landlord is NOT a charity.

Just as there are wicked landlords, there are wicked tenants.

I'm sure there are homeless people living in and around your area. Have you housed even one of them, out of the goodness of your heart?

It's not easy being a philanthropist.

I bet you, this man may have grown up children somewhere but they have refused to care of him. cry

This is one reason the government should look into constructing old peoples home in various Local Government of the nation
for retirees and old people whose children have refused to take care of them. embarassed

RIP to the dead.

It doesn't have to be the govt. Nigeria is a 3rd world country and very populous. Our economy on our best day is d size of d small state of Michigan in d USA. The govt has not paid salaries of pple of working age who have active dependants to feed, its now old pple they should house and feed. Have they even paid their pensioners salaries?

We can have homeless shelters and soup kitchens for d aged and poor where private pple can drop food and mattresses and clothes. In america, soup kitchens provide free food every evening. Anyone can volunteer to cook. Let citizens, charities and churches contribute towards DT. And its a good use of their money.

It's my uncle who did what?

Still, this is typical of one who can't debate, and be intelligent with their analysis, they resort to verbal abuse, and get unduly personal. Tell me, what has my uncle got to do with anything? I'm more surprised you didn't drag my absent father into your response.

Why blame the landlord, it appears the man did not even have money to feed himself so what hope was there he could have paid his rent?
I wonder why he never chose to return to his village.

Nigeria currently leaves no safety net for people who fall on hard times.

RIP sir.

RIP old papa.
Smh. Our society does not have much in store for the senior citizens who gave their yesterday for us to enjoy today.
I hope we are not placing a curse, unconsciously, on ourselves as we need the blessings of our senior citizens very much.
