amaechi1: Call a spade a spade bro. Trump was not wrong when he said we have the dumbest president. He just didn't understand the concept of Subsidy that was why he kept on covering it up with talks of Corruption and Stealing and all... Without disputing the fact that the funds for Subsidy were mismanaged,he should have asked what it was about, studied the process and corrected the flaws.. Instead of outrightly condemning a process he doesn't know Jack about, apparently,he and his confused cabinet members are as confused as their members.... |

I saw a video sometime ago just before the elections of 2015 where buhari questioned with all seriousness the subsidization of petrol in the country. He kept on repeating the phrase "who is subsidizing who?", saying he had been in the system well enough to disregard the relevance of subsidy on petroleum products. Today we're in 2016 and it is a different story, have things so changed that much? 1 Like |

hectorswag: My brother, the amount of brainwashed mofos that are suffering and smiling is dwindling by the day, until we achieve a sizeable amount of redeemed souls, after thorough hardship and suffering, we cannot plan any revolutionary movement. However, our campaign against this fraudulent government is strong, both online and offline 1-1. Nigeria will surely be liberated from the coven of confused elements claiming progressive. 2 Likes 1 Share |

ceejay80s: Look at both of you,is this a new decision? All they would have done would have been to simply look into what the past government had done, correct the process and we would have been the better for it. Today,We are buying fuel for as high as 180 naira per liter and you are both asking us to rejoice at such an unnecessary drama??Think again bro!!! |

amaechi1:Alleviate the sufferings of who? Please stop saying Crap. When was the last time you bout fuel for less than N100/litre. Fuel subsidy is the worst thing to happen to Nigeria and it's part of the reason why persons within government will keep fighting against we setting up New refineries. Buhari is bringing back subsidy to settle his people that's all. Fuel subsidy has no direct benefit to the common man in any way.Let the government tAke it's hands off adjustments and fixing of fuel prices, let those who want to import do their importation and those who want to set up refineries locally do same and sell at whatever price they like let us see if we will not buy fuel at 30Naira per litre in the next five years. Government needs to stop making decisions just to put itself on better paths politically, else they'd grind this country dust.Adios. 2 Likes |

Firefire: If you remove the government will any government coming in now make the queues disappear overnight? The government is working round the clock to fix the refineries , fix the depots, repair the pipelines and build a strategic reserve to have fuel always . All these takes time and would have been easier of the past governments have been as serious as this government is. Things are very bad, because of the dilapidated infrastructures at the depots and perforated pipelines all fuel imports have to be trucked from Lagos to everypart of the country that is not even economical and logistic nightmare. If I remember correctly when subsidy was stopped in January we were told the price may be reviewed by the next quater but instead of reviewing the price the government decided to cushion the effect by introducing subsidy again temporarily . It's not economic suicide and not alien in economics as governments put policies in place from time to time to achieve their objectives having the people in mind. |

Let the fuel be available, that what we want. As long as our refineries are not working to full capacity, subsidy may continue. |

[quote author=Firefire post=44358144] You guys are pathetic, you still have the guts to mention saboteurs, after 1 year in power ? APC broom juju is really potent. [/quoteMAJOR MARKETER'S ROLE IN FUEL SCARCITY. A dangerous trend has surfaced in what appeared to be unending journey on fuel scarcity. Now that the major marketers have joined in thwarting government efforts to end ques at filling stations, Nigerians are now frustrated as corruption is fighting back tooth and nail. The DPR is lost or pretending not to be aware of the fraudulent deals of major marketers by diverting portions of their supplies to independent marketers at exorbitant prices. Independent marketers that were unable to collect consignment at high costs in the recent past are the ones now awashed with the product and selling at unimaginable prices. Nigerians do you now see where our problem lies. So if corruption is not killed it will kill us. We have a collective duty to fight this menance that wants to destroy us all. Let's stop castigating the wrong channels and face the cankerworm who is out next door neighbours. God heal our land |

The open truth is buhari does not know what he is doing, this government is totally confused about what the Nigeria problem is ,they have no idea how to tackle any of the problems tackling the nation.even fashola has come to realize that managing the energy ministry is more tasking and difficult than governing Lagos state, not to talk of ruling Nigeria. We have a bunch of political kindergarten leaders who professed to be masters in finding solutions to problems. Tho government will need at least 8 years to learn rudiments of national governance 2 Likes

First and foremost I think its very material for people to look at the whole fuel scarcity issue holistically. The decline in oil prices has minimal effect on the local price of PMS in Nigeria because the medium of exchange for sale of crude is USD and not Naira. Also, Nigeria has been fighting it really difficult to sell her crude lately. There is a glut in the market with hence the decline and with Iran entering the market crude oil prices are likely to stay depressed. I personally want to disagree with the daily consumption number quoted by NNPC. The truth is nobody really knows the real amount of fuel consumed in Nigeria and here are my reasons for saying this The subsidy cabal in collaboration with some corrupt NNPC and DPR officials usually inflate the liters imported to get more subsidy payments so it is not uncommon for round tripping of vessels to happen. I can say this without fear of doubt because I have seen it happen first hand. (Importer will bring 5000MT and say its 15000MT and will be paid subsidy on 15000MT) Secondly there are a lot of illegal modular refineries in the Niger Delta where people steal crude and refine to get substandard PMS. This is not also captured. We can go on till eternity on this issue yet there won't be a solution is sight. Certain things though are constant in this whole issue There is a Subsidy Cabal in this country that holds the government and Nigerians to ransome anytime things don't go as they have planned. The cabal is made up of people in the govt, NNPC, DPR, National Assembly and private sector Our current refineries are old and outdated so relying on them to meet our fictious daily fuel need is not an option. The Nigerian government (be it APC or PDP led) whether past, present or future cannot embark on construction of new refineries simply because the political will and discipline to do so is lacking. I mean they can't even get their act together and do a second River Niger Bridge or even a 4th Mainland bridge in Lagos. My personal suggestion is for govt to remove subsidy and let the market control fuel prices. Truth is even with subsidy we are still buying at double the official price. Govt should also legalize and grant licenses for the operation of modular refineries. The truth is govt has no business interfering in the oil and gas and power. They should concentrate on provision of social amenities like roads, schools hospital etc. Also with modular refineries on board nobody will have a monopoly of production distribution and sales. People in Kano won't have to wait for fuel from Apapa before they drive their cars. An investor can simply build a modular refinery in Kano that will cater for their fuel needs there. We Nigerians must be ready to sacrifice if we genuinely want our country to change for better. The sad thing is that we are all so short sighted and believe in instant gratification at the expense of long term gain. Even if a new party and now government is elected in 2019 and nothing material is done now to address this subsidy scam. The same script which has been played since Obj, Yar Adua, GEJ and Buhari's tenor will still be played and Nigerians as usual will be the losers. God bless Nigeria P.S I pray that they don't also sabotage Dangote's refinery at Epe. I have been to the refinery location and what he is building there is massive and will maybe help stop importation of fuel completely but will also give Dangote complete monopoly of the product just as we have with cement. 6 Likes |
