Some idi0ts would take their barbaric attitudes to their place of employment as teachers or admin staff, and then start taking out their frustrations in life on the pupils under the guise of 'discipline'.

If that was my child, the offender should just go and pick out his own coffin...

beating should be banned in schools, only reasonable punishment should be allowed, no teacher should lay his/her hand on a student, he or she will be sacked and prosecuted. Simple.

Remember when a teacher beat i and 3 other students with whip( koboko) on our bare backs just because we didnt do our sat morning duties early enough. Its crazzzy

except this matter get to the national assembly and a bill is passed against it..then am afraid there is noting that can be done about it

What a tragedy. Probably, the eye was not well treated and got infected leading to infection of the brain tissue and consequently death. Two things to blame:'=

1. Violent Nigerian educators - I have been making noise about this for a long time. You don't have to treat people like animals to educate them. We don't need kobokos and violent punishment in our schools.

2. Poor first aid and medical treatment for injuries and accidents. Countless Nigerians have died of non-life threatening injuries because the proper first aid was not given as/at when due.

Those kids head,brain and structure is just forming.

Terrible slaps will just destruct their whole head and brain,shifting they membranes and all sort of things on their head into the wrong places.

Ps. Health sector also is nothing to write home about. Am sure no brain scanning was done to check for damages tissues behid the eyes and brain to see of any corrective surgery could b done and get her well. They might just be giving her eyes drop like that. May Hos help us in Nigeria.

I have witnessed the reverse before...a student beat up a teacher and he was hospitalised...funny enof....the student was only suspended for a month because the principal already has personnel issues with the teacher before.....

When I was still in SS3, I got 20 slaps from my principal (10 on each cheek). That one has happened. But if any teacher tries that with my kid brothers or my kids(in future), SMH, I don't even know what I will do. Teachers are inflicting pains on pupils and students for no just reasons. Its use should be banned. There are better ways to chastise erring students.

i am a teacher and i am not in support of this kind of punishment but the children of this days are not afraid. They challenge teachers and when a teacher trys to do the right thing by reporting the student, he finds out that the student was only warned.
