What is wrong with yours? Thats an intake air temperature sensor. Cleaning with fuel? Then you must be ready to get another one. There is a cleaning solution. A bit pricy though

You will need to be more detail about what you want to achieve .That your engine is 5S-Fe Camry and it doesn't have a MAF .

Nope my engine is see below, Toyota Carina E 1.6l auto 4afe factory fitted engine

D issue: I ve been running on CEL for 2year nw cheesy, changed oxygen sensor but CEL persists (I am nt worried much BC engine runs as if it is jst out of factory, no smoking but consumes fuel 20l/100km on city >smiley I wanna try changing MAF sensor. My scan port seems faulty as it is nt detected by d scan guys I took it to, I noticed sth yesterday I am having slight hesitation/jerk if I step hard on my gas pedal. All my research points to MAF sensor cleaning hence this thread

Your car wasn't built with a maf sensor rather an air intake temperature sensor. What year is your ride. That diagnostic port is obd1 snappee by you

Just like it bigger brother 5S-Fe toyota engine ,Carina 4sfe engine is not endowed with MAF .Its airflow measurement is done by MAP .
Hesitation or jerking issue must compulsory not always be air flow rate related (Maf/Map) problem ,it can also be ignition or fuel related but definitely it an indication of running lean signal.
Come for a diagnosis if you are in Lagos .

I am nt in anyway close to Lagos as I am located in abia, finding an enlightened mechanic here is like finding a fowl with teethtongue na kazeen full here though kazeen pass kazeen sha

U guys r right as I just learnt d car has air temp sensor and air pressure sensor doing d work of MAF. Where can I locate the air pressure sensor. Since CEL is on dnt u think it must b sensor related

For that model of car ,noticeable lean issue will be more fuel related than air .Go and perform a fuel pressure test (not fuel pump change o) diagnosis ,I will recommend a good professional that can do this for you in abia

U r partially correct by saying it is fuel related. I took d car to my mechanic I will call him skilled kazeen. He jst drove d car around n came back n told me hear him "

oga nothing do ur car, u jst bought very bad fuel. Just go buy extreme fuel treatment n add in ur tank n u shld b fine. I told him I bought d fuel from reputable total filling station, he said it doesn't matter BC sometime they buy bad fuel too.

What do you think, I bought fuel full tank on Thursday last week n noticed hesitation/jerk yesterday. Do u think my mechanic could b right

I have already said it earlier that you should go for fuel pressure test .Fuel injection system is very sensitive to small change of fuel pressure even if it 1 psi drop .Fuel pressure test will show if the level of fuel pressure of your car is OK.contact the abia guy contact I gave you earlier for the test
Re: Someone Give Me A Helping Hand MAF Sensor Identification by GAZZUZZ(m): 7:55am On Mar 31, 2016
ogawisdom you spelt my name wrong. Would have been here earlier. Hesitation could rightly be fuel pressure related, unfortunately you don't have a fuel pressure tester to do that. If the strainer or filter inside the fuel tank is blocked with dirt, it would cause those symptoms. If you have a vacuum leak between the map and the vacuum pipe leading to it it could also cause same issues. You could check your fuel filter in tank and replace if necessary. There's a trick to testing the fuel pressure of a fuel pump. the guys in the market connect the fuel pump to the fuelpressure regulator, and watch the flow of fuel, if it is rapid, the fuel pump is still pumping way above 3bars if there is no flow, pump is below 3bars, if it is very slow, pump is on its way out. If you finally decide to replace the pump, avoid those chinese clones, better look for a new one (denso 30k only pump) or toks 2500-3000.

also check distributor setting. Ask your mechanic, if yours has 2bolts bolting it in, if it does, timing might have been tampered with and currently retarded, that would cause sluggishness and car would burn more fuel. You would need a timing light to properly set the distributor, but your mechanic could adjust by ear while revving to get a better setting.

sorry for digressing but,

Oga Gazzuzz,

As regards fitting a manual (clutch type ) AC compressor in a 2008 Camry (2AZ-FE engine), would you recommend one taken from the 2003 Toyota Camry (big for nothing) that shares a similar (2AZ-FE) engine? or would you recommend the one from Toyota hilux(2.7 liter engine)?

Thanks for your anticipated response.

Ok thanks everyone symptoms have disappeared ie slight hesitation n jerk on heavy acceleration my mechanic was right I bought bad fuel. I ve refilled n things seem to b normal again.

Pls which sensor is my hand pointing in d pic below and d socket circled in red n blue r they connected to sensors , is it MAP jst curious

Re: Someone Give Me A Helping Hand MAF Sensor Identification by mayor2013: 11:25am On Apr 06, 2016
1st which your hand is pointing to is the map sensor which is used to measure thr amount of intake air that goes into the engine which inturns if the ecu gets right value from it would be used to determine actual fuel injection

Second is the throttle position sensor which is used to determine the position of the throttle valve located in the throttle body. They are both conmected to sensors. A better picture would make me tell which sensors they are connected to
