Friend, you do not need a computer to verify the authenticity or validity of a certificate. I have been involved in doing this where I work and this is how it goes. An email is sent to the body that offered the certificate with a scanned copy of the document clearly showing photo, name, cert number, date etc requesting they verify. You normally get a response in a few weeks. Nothing wrong with laminating documents to preserve them. Better still, save scanned electronic copies in cloud storage. 2 Likes |

Felixsparks:You assume we all have rats and termites in our houses. Rats and termites are not the norm. Anyway, you can put the certificate in a plastic sleeve so you don't necessarily have to laminate it to protect it |

In Nigeria it'd accepted whether laminated or not but if you are planning to go abroad, DO NOT LAMINATE IT. All my certs are laminated BT wife's own, I told her no way. |

Instead of laminating, why don't you put your certificate in an envelope and write the title of the certificate on it with a marker. You can also keep it in a water resistant envelope. |

Timolanki:Stop talking like an illiterate. Any organization is who serious about you and wants to verify your certificate can contact the school or organization that issued it. It is as simple as that. It is called "administrative work" or "processing." |

To laminate your certificate and let everyone who needs to see it have access to it is better than 'keeping it with the Military Board' where no one will be able to see it, only to come and use a non-laminated NEPA bill certificate 50 years later. |

Timolanki: Don't believe everything you hear @op. Your certified authenticity can be confirmed by the number on it. So forget story, lamination won't affect your certificate in this form. 2 Likes |

Most commentators did not really say or know the reason why (sabu) certificate should not be laminated it is because lamination burns the hidden data under the seal |
