I have heard I look Igbo but I don't really know, I have seen Nigerians that favor me, but I am not sure if their tribe. I am getting a DNA test that goes back generation to generation of my mothers mothers mothers line. I hope to find answers with the test, because I KNOW I am WEST AFRICAN, but that's not enough for me, I need to know where my bloodlines came from, its very important to me to find peace living and being brought up in this horrible country. (usa) angry

But anyway, what do you guys think?? smiley

I can see there is still a few wise guys on this page. I was insulted the last time I was on here a few years back by an idiot, but since I'm much older now I'll just ignore anyone with anything negative to say to or about me, at the end of the day I have a wonderful life I just don't like it in the USA but I'm not miserable or broke so insults don't bother me just to let anyone know. grin

My mother is still alive, my father passed about 11 years ago, but they were both born here in the southern united states, I have been able to trace back quite a bit on my mothers side, but my dads family I am not able to find a lot of information, but I am working on it. wink

since your mum is alive i think she should be of immense help. Or is she not supportive of your quest. There is nothing as confusing as one not knowing their true identity.

Oh yes she is very supportive, but the problem is being African American, a lot of our history has been lost, so my only option is to turn to the ancestry DNA tests, I mean they can be expensive, but I don't mind paying the price to know as much as possible. I am not sure if you are familiar with the tests, but the scientists went to different parts of Africa, and took genetic markers, then you give a sample and they can match you up as close as possible to those you share genetic similarities with. So I'm excited because it will give me a small view of my history and I can go from there. When I find out I will go there and visit, if its more than one West African Nation, I will go there also. smiley

To be honest, if Donald Trump is elected I will be moving there forever lol I eventually want to move back home (where ever that is) but I will live out my last days in Africa somewhere. I have a decent amount of money, I would love to build a house there, that would be a dream! Maybe start a business to help women and children, I have 4 of my own, so I know things can get tough sometimes. I just don't want anyone to be rude to me because I am African American and I don't know my history blah blah blah, that's not my fault, if I had a choice, I would have chose to be born in Africa!

I have been this was since I was a child and I am 35 now lol and yes there are plenty of blacks here in America and other countries that try to deny who they are and where they come from, and I think its really ridiculous! I mean why be ashamed of who you are and where you come from? There are also a lot of us who want to go HOME! But you never really hear about us I am sure, I am sure you hear of the fools that don't like to put AFRICAN in front of American, those that don't do anything but ask silly questions every time they meet an African person, asking crap like do you kill lions and do you all wear clothes angry my daughters high school teacher said "why would your mom want to move to Africa, its so dirty and poor there" UNBELIEVABLE! Her teacher is white and I wanted to slap her face off, I said tell your teacher, there are many rich people over there that could buy and sell her life! Any time anyone insults anything to do with Africa and her people I get pissed off, more so when its another black person! I am tired of the people here, fighting, shooting each other, unlimited babies and no husbands, full jails, crime, death I am sick of it all, its out of control. I live in a small town that used to be safe, not so much any more. I want to live somewhere that is rich in history and tradition. Sure we had some, but this new generation of idiots and losers are destroying everything my people died for, so I am ready to leave.... I just hope I am welcomed with open arms <3

You look like someone from Southern Nigeria... but as per tribe, it would be difficult since you don't have very tribal features... you can easily pass for a Bini (Edo), Igbo or Yoruba woman... If you are in Nigeria, you would blend in easily... except when you start talking then your accent would give you away...

Sure, Nigerians are accomodating... if you ever come just try to speak Pidgin English and the dominant native language of the state you are in (in Lagos, it is Yoruba)...

Even though our per capita income is lower than the USA, we are not living in abject poverty...

BUT be prepared for the heat season that occurs between February to May before the rains start.. and in a place like Lagos (where i stay) add high humidty to the heat... in the Northern parts of Nigeria, their own is dry heat (low humidity).
