Size: 17 floors

ATO Architects won the design competition for the headquarters of the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) in June 2011. The total site area is about 81,000sqm, which accommodates a building footprint of about 63,000sqm. The proposal comprises of three office towers on a podium with an area of about 63,000sqm and a multi-storey car park block which also houses social facilities such as gymnasium, clinic, religious facilities.

The office spaces are accommodated on 17 floors in the three towers, which are linked at the base by some communal facilities. The offices have been categorized  and designed in departments as required by the client. They come in two major types; the open plan offices with partitions to create the required exclusivity of the work groups and cellular offices for group heads and directors.

Each tower has been provided with 2 staircases, and four elevators to facilitate easy ingress and egress to and from the building. The towers are separated by the ample airspace to allow adequate natural lighting and ventilation when required. A helipad has been provided at the roof level and this comes in the form of a circular platform linking all three towers and distributing directly to the lift lobby provided within the towers. A total number of 416 car parking spaces has been provided.

Sir, I completely agree that the unitary system being practiced in Nigeria has set back the physical and economic development of the country. I'm all for the states having much greater control over their mineral resources.

But it behoves on the southern governors to attract similar projects to their states. Enugu, for instance, has done well in attracting a Golf and Lifestyle city (Independence Layout phase 2), which is also privately funded.

And using Abuja as federal capital, more and more of the oil revenues go to be spent on Abuja which is also north.

How do you explain your Abooookis now using their undue large number of political representation in the National Assembly to hold strongly to an increasingly over-centralized unitary government system that enables you take most of the oil wealth from the Niger delta and spend it on the north and Abuja?

$18.5BN? That's a lot of money oh.
Problem with Abuja is the inherent lack of private businesses that help run a city's development. Coupled with the fear of bomb blasts here and there, living in Abuja will be like living in a posh prison.

Give me Lagos anytime. Could please do same for Lagos or PH?

This is real defeat from war and later colonization.

All things been equal, Niger delta area should have been competing with Dubai in development today.
