Not a brilliant idea, if this implies that next salary payment would be in 50-60days time?

This is a classic case of set up...............
If it is in Nigeria and it seems too good, runaway from it.

Ekiti360:

Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade stunned workers on the 1st of May, Workers Day, when he announced the payment of salaries for the month of May on the first day of the month.A mild drama immediately ensued when the workers who were at the U.J. Esuene Stadium for the May Day celebration began to receive salary payment alert from their various banks.

Unable to contain their excitement, the workers shouted “alert, alert”.

The workers praised the governor. Before now, the governor had paid salaries between the 13th and 20th day of each month.Governor Ayade told the workers, who named him the “Best Labour Friendly Governor in Nigeria”, that his administration had a duty to give workers a sense of dignity.

“We must create opportunities for labour to feel a sense of dignity. If you are truly a Christian, you must know that as you care for your kids, you must care for labour,” he stated.

Another good news is that workers in the Edo State civil and public got cheering news during the May Day celebration as their salaries were increased.

Workers’ salaries were increased by 45 percent. The minimum wage is now N25,000.

The workers, especially members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees who were in pensive mood at the beginning of the rally, danced and sang praises of Governor Adams Oshiomhole.

this same workers celebrating will soon come out to cry foul if the governor continues like this for 3 to 4 months ask Ebonyi workers they receive their salaries every 15th n many of them are already complaining that the salary is coming too early

these governors should know that workers only complain when they are not been paid for months not when they pay them at the end of every month

I commend him for at least paying the salaries and increasing the minimum wage.... But why pay someone on the first day of the month

Gov. Ben Ayade of Cross River state paid salary on the 1st of May, while Gov. Adams Oshiomole increased the minimum wage. Two different personalities.

This is where to start developing a state and not by using workers' salaries to buy uniforms and chinko pads for students like Osun State Governor
Re: Ayade Pays May Salary On First Day Of The Month by Jdesilentkiller(m): 2:05pm On May 02, 2016
This Gov is wise, he stylishly shut up the labour union who might ask for salary increase during day celebration. I hope they later ask for increase not minding his divertionary tactist.
Re: Ayade Pays May Salary On First Day Of The Month by crackhouse(m): 2:10pm On May 02, 2016
damn, their next salary will be 30th June.
what a long time to wait after they might have finish their May salary before 25th May.
sure their frustration have already set in because they will definitely go borrowing and will hope on the June salary to offset their debt after which they will borrow again to sustain themselves through July and then offset again using July salary and go borrowing again to keep up with the Joneses in August and it continues like that till they retire.
What a calculative way to useless the workers wages.
Cross River Una well-done ooo.

a very good gesture there from one of my mentors.
those of you who see something wrong with this action better re-examined yourselves and try to rid yourself of poverty and destitute mentality. because it seems you'd rather prefer to be owed than to be paid early. And to feel because you'd be paid upfront will make you lose the motivation to work, shows how shallow and fickle you are and not even fit to work.
I'd rather have my salary paid up front so that I can plan and adequately achieve my plans than being owed.

Re: Ayade Pays May Salary On First Day Of The Month by Odinax: 3:07pm On May 02, 2016
This is the height cradle of all wickedness from the governor.
One, what is the moral justification for paying workers for a job they've not done? It's only in a country with such a senile and oblivious people as Nigeria that this sort of callousness is celebrated.
Two, an act of wickedness as the governor is fully on the know that these same people singing him praises will have to wait for another 2months before expecting another pay. Why not maintain a regular and prompt monthly pay and you will be seen as wise.
My advice to unsuspecting workers, pretend you never got any alert, this is a trap and a ploy by the governor to further deepen your poor condition of service.
**Nigerian politicians and their cheap "free lunch tactics shaa**

A welcome development. Wonder why other governors are owing many months of salaries especially south west governors excluding Lagos state governor. A friend working with Oyo state government got november salary three weeks ago. The friend is depressed and feeds from hand to mouth. I believe those not paying salaries are the wicked ones that has failed to adjust to the hard times, they still want to continue living luxurious and expensive life styles using money meant to be used for salaries. They tell workers to fasten their belts but has refused to do the same. Party affiliations aside, majority of the wicked governors are APC change agents. For me the change is evil, backwardness, sufferings and owing of several months of salaries.

Good to pay workers' salary on time. Certainly not before they've done their jobs. Just after a brief search on this young man, I realised his achievement is breathtakingly impressive, giving hope that all hope is not lost. Dimeji Bankole was a disgrace to the Nigerian youths. However, this young man seems a different kettle of fish. Wishing him the very best.
