chinok97: I am going via Studienkolleg, this is because: 1. It will help me refresh my memory in certain subject areas (such as coding structures and algorithms\ 2. Prepare me for the task ahead when it comes to adjusting to German standard and style of education. 3. Last but not least, it will help improve my German knowledge as part of my classes would also include more German lessons. My finding has shown that it is similar to studying English in SS1-SS3, and it becomes easy for you in Uni. You are able to understand your professor a lot more easily. 2 Likes |

dprinz99:Getting a language visa is possible only if you don't show how desperate you need it. My advice for Leprof is, learn German here in Nigeria and get an admission letter from a Uni, not language school, stating that at the end of your Language course, you will be able to write DSH, which will enable you study here in Germany. NB: you need at least B1 level to get this kind of offer. 1 Like |

dprinz99: Thanks bro for your, but you probably did not read my earlier post. Its a University pathway program. The checklist clearly states Student Visa - for persons who have already applied at a university and have received a letter of admission to the university or a confirmation that their application is being processed. This category also applies to persons who wish to attend a language course or a preparatory course (“Studienkolleg”) in Germany first and thereafter immediately take up their studies at a German university. A university pathway program ensures that you are offered provisional admission in University and/or studienkolleg on the basis that you pass you language course. The Language school works in partnership with certain universities and through these partnerships, the language school are able to act as intermediaries to procure a CONDITIONAL OFFER LETTER and would be reversed when you have met the language course requirements. Therefore, the only breaks you would be having a normal interludes when your results are being calculated. But in the general sense everything is happening in one full sweep and in a stepwise process. Am not sure what happened to you back in 2014. But based on your explanation, you applied for a language course visa ONLY. Of course naturally they would refer you to Goethe Institute. 1 Like |

My Journey So Far (Certification of Documents: 03-052016) You know that feeling you get when a heavy burden is lifted off your shoulders. That is exactly how I feel right now. Exhausted doesn't cut it when it comes to description. When am exhausted, I binge on food and today was not exception. Right now I feel like Garfield after woofing down a huge plate of a lasagna. Today at 12:45pm I was at the embassy waiting for it to be 1pm to reach, so the whole process can commence. German Embassy Abuja does authentication/certification from Monday to Thursday starting at 1pm (no appointment necessary). But I felt a bit unprepared for this certification/authentication process. I knew what was missing - The invoice from my Language school. I was hoping it would arrive on Monday 02:05:2016, but it was a holiday in almost every part of the world. So today at 08:22am, I sent out an email to my student advisor asking what was the holdup with regards to this invoice. 12:57pm, **ding** my phone buzzes and there it is. The last piece I was waiting for, the invoice had arrived. Superman ain't gat nothing on me, as at that very moment as I zoomed off with the speed of light. Thankfully my friend who had driven me to the embassy was still around and I told him to drive me to the nearest ATM and business centre in Gana street, maitama. Why all this wahala for an invoice you may ask? The thing is the embassy requires you to present photocopies of your transcripts, international passport and other documents as well as A UNIVERSITY APPLICATION FORM . But since I am using a university pathway program, I don't get to deal with university application forms... yet. See where am going now? So in lieu of a university application form, the invoice from the school stating that you are a prospective candidate for a university pathway program, will suffice as as evidence that you will be applying for a student visa in the near future. I should also state here that a Letter of Attorney was written for me and I signed it, giving the school full permission to deal with all things that concerned my studies in Germany. 01:20pm, I am back at the embassy again, I had printed the invoice from the school and attached it to the other photocopies of the documents I had with me earlier. 01:22pm after clearing security at the gate, I was seated waiting for my turn. Its a looooooooooooooooong wait, despite the fact that we were on 3 guys who wanted to have their documents authenticated. Blame it on German efficiency and meticulousness, but its one of the things I love about them anyway. Finally it my turn... Despite my careful preparation, I messed up a big time, but it was not too fatal to cancel the whole process. You see, I had prepared 3 sets of documents, because my student advisor asked that I send 2 sets of notarized document (I made 3 instead as a backup for my advisor, should in case the need arose during the whole process of him getting my admission sorted). However, the lady there at the embassy pointed out that I cannot have all 3 sets of documents notarized, as I am applying to only one school which is the language school and therefore since they are acting as middle men for my studies, the embassy can only notarize one set........Arrrgggghhhhh!!!.... So if the school requires more copies they would have to photocopy the one set which was done. Secondly, a prospective student can only notarize 3 different set of documents if he/she is applying to 3 different schools. This is easy for Msc students or for those who are applying for direct entry into Bsc (without the option of studienkolleg). It should be noted here that YOU CAN ONLY NOTARIZE FOR FREE A MAXIMUM OF 3 SETS OF DOCUMENTS FOR 3 DIFFERENT UNIVERSITY APPLICATIONS if you want to notarize more than 3. It will be really expensive. This is what the lady said. She was really understanding and helpful in terms of explaining the procedures and why things are, the way they are. A few more minutes of waiting and I was done... whew... what a relief... So i rearranged my docs, went over to DHL's office in Wuse 2 and sent it off. Now it a matter of waiting.... Will keep you all updated as I continue to make progress Cheers PS: Ever since my first post, I have been receiving PMs from people to chat with me in private via whatsapp and email. I cannot honestly promise that I will be able to give you the one on one advice that you need, as all I am doing is, documenting the high and lows of my journey to earning a bachelor's degree in Germany. Also I feel since we are somewhat a minority, when it comes to the visa process, I think it is best that we all air out questions here in the open. so that others can learn from us as well. Even the experienced once can chip into. I read on this same thread that one person bumped into another prospective Bsc applicant from Anambra state at the embassy recently. So let us help out one another, no matter how silly the questions may be, air it out. We should not cower, for fear of being seen as stupid and what not, I personally will not take it likely with anyone whatsoever who deems it fit to bully people into silence, simply because their questions are deemed silly and ignorant. Also please bear in mind that google is your BFF, so as much as we don't want you to be silent about your concerns, try and do as much research on your own as possible. Germany is no place for a lazy man, and if you cannot do the hardwork here in Nigeria, is it when you arrive in Germany that you will? 7 Likes |

Using transcripts from 100lv to 200lv... Faculty of pharmacy tho, and i'm applying for i.t/comp sci.. Bsc... Although i sent along legalize diploma certificate in information technology also, to uniassist...remains my ielts which i get dis weekend, i cn still forward it to uniassist after it comes out, but what if the vpd is ready before that time, will i have to wait again for anoda long time, before they add up the lang cert, or i cn submit the ready vpd nd lang cert together? because a skul's dead line is about 8days after the ielts is said to come out.. And is there any special requirements for the transcripts needed for bsc. The vpd making process started probably this week, since they confirmed my docs last Friday. |

willy2000:Exactly how does one not show 'desperation'? I am yet to see anybody that guinuinely applies for a Visa and not do his best to get it, especially, given the hassle that comes with it. Apparently, the record has shown that the probability of being referred to Goethe while seeking a visa via Language school is much higher than otherwise. Also, for someone who intends to enrol into a university after the language Kurs, he must return to Nigeria and apply for a student visa...isn't that supposed to be a turnoff? I think the Germans deliberately made this rule to discourage language visa application. So, why waste time, energy, and most importantly, Money? |
