Seun, you are just jealous, middle men and marketers are business men, from them guys have made good legitimate money. That you not getting paid by mark3ters is no reason to ban anything. Dont kill your site with dictatorship, ***Seun, no one made you a ruler over us and you r not. If you think every one will have no choice and just accept this from you and move on, Well you lie. Bring down your shoulders. Nothing last forever. One day nairaland go cast. Nigeria got 200million people, you site is just a little above a million, including individuals with more than 2 accounts. You should think to grow not destroy that little which you have built. 9 Likes 3 Shares |

Seun you're too myopic and bankrupt of ideal reasoning that I always wonder how you even made Nairaland. How can you open your mouth and call sports betting fundamental fraud? Am sure u've never bet in your life. Sports betting is entirely different from mere random gambling because it involve ability to analytically forecast an event yet to take place. If I tose a coin and ask u if it's going to fall with the coin front or back side, any choice you make is random prediction aka gambling but if Nigeria is paying Brasil today am sure you Seun will say Brasil sho u ld win, why? Because there are facts to analyse that Brasil played Nigeria 20 times in the past and won 18 times with 2 draws, so saying Brasil will win Nigeria is not gambling. Yes Nigeria could surprisingly win Brasil, yes that's why it's called prediction. When meteorologist s tells you it will rain in lagos tomorrow and rain didn't fall that tomorrow, did they gamble? The only p r oblem with sports betting is addiction and addiction to anything whatsoever in this life is wrong not sports bet alone. 4 Likes 1 Share |

akinalabi: That's just it. It's his call. However, to have bandied us as fraudsters is completely wrong. And I am also surprised at your calm disposition without correcting the impression that your business is fraudulent and "illegal"...oops, it seems that the bolded part has been modified in the initial post....i read it once and got all the salient parts registered in my mind. 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: Banning Forex Trading And Sports Betting Promotion by akinalabi(m): 12:23am On May 04, 2016 |
amuokuko: Seun stopped accepting sports betting adverts a long time ago and Nairaland is still going strong. Nairaland will not die after banning sports betting in its entirety neither will sports betting die. Sports betting has been in existence in climes like the UK for a century and that will happen in Nigeria as well. It has contributed a lot to Nigeria's economy and the Lagos state government for instance does not joke with the industry. Sports betting and lottery contributed a lot to the police cars and other security equipments you see in Lagos state. Don't let us even talk about job creation directly and indirectly. For players that lose, it is an expense on entertainment. Just like going to the cinema. You can win, you can lose. No biggies. But you just have to love Seun. He is a pricipled dude and he knows what he wants for his forum. We have to respect that. When he stopped accepting sports betting ads, we simply continued with advertising on Google, Facebook, Twitter, Linda Ikeji, Goal.com, ESPNfc and so on. Seun is happy. We are happy. Punters are happy. Government is happy. Workers are happy. Agents are happy. 4 Likes |

akinalabi: His principles or not. He said sports betting or forex trading are fundamentally fraudulent. Can that be right? Is your business a fraud? Are you a fraud? That is what i also want you to address. 3 Likes 1 Share |
Re: Banning Forex Trading And Sports Betting Promotion by akinalabi(m): 12:33am On May 04, 2016 |
Calebsky: We all know it's not illegal. We all know it's not fraudulent so there is nothing to debate about that. It is a noble industry. Very few industries contribute to a society as much as this industry. For example, all forums in Nigeria vs all sports betting websites. Ask Ambode to pick one. We know what he will pick. We know it's not illegal. We know it's not fraudulent a. That is Seun's opinion and we really need to respect people's opinions. I joined Nairaland in 2006. That is years before I launched Nairabet. I will still be a member even after the impending ban. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Calebsky: My brother. There is nothing to address. It is his opinion and if we go around addressing every single individual's opinion, we won't do anything with our lives. Sports betting is for recreation. It's for entertainment. We have said that over and over again. Mr A goes to the cinema to watch a movie for N1,000 Mr B goes to a beer parlour to drink beer for N1,000 Mr C goes to a NairaBET shop to bet with N1,000 Nobody comes back home with money. Infact, the sports betting guy can even come back with money. Where is the fraud? To most people that don't know how this works, let me explain. 100 people go to a betting shop and bet with N1,000 each. That is 100k. 98 of them lose their bets. One wins 50k. The other wins 45k. Out of the 5k remaining, the company pays a percentage to government as good causes and also company tax. They pay salaries and they pay agents. They get to keep a cut as well. It's crystal clear. 9 Likes 3 Shares |
