If we want a good development in agricultural sector, it will be a nonsense approach for a Doctor,Lawyer,Civil engineer etc to become a farm manager because it pay more, when we have a lots of graduate frm CSP(crop soil Pest Management) department, Crop production.... That know what to plant, when to plant,how to control pest, how to test for fertility,ph... #so its not possible for a goal oriented person who want to go into farm business to think of employing a nurse, lawyer, banker as his farm manager.

well, money to start will be the biggest problem that i see. and i dont have any knowledge of agric businesses

It spreads across. For example, working on a project that aims towards having apples trees across Nigeria become a common sight.

Green collar jobs (i.e farming) pays more than many white collar jobs.

Just last month, one of my guys, also a Nairalander was hired for 60K per month just to supervise a cucumber farm in Eugu.
He was offered accomodation also but he deceided to come from his house.


One good thing with farming is that you dont need much accademic qualifications to be employed. The stress is usually on practical knowledge and experience.

What is the primary reason you are working in the first place? This should answer your question.

by the way,saint nicholas hospital lagos wasnt owned and mainly managed by a doctor or health practitioner..

if his opinion was anything to go by,every non banking related graduates in banks should be sacked and top officials retired.practice of Agriculture does not necessarily require a professional training to achieve results. how many commercial farmers in the north knew what he called soil profile and ph in theoritical terms? are they not succeeding? LAWMA THINGS!!!

You must learn to focus on the MONEY, not chicks or AC or internet. Chicks doesn't make you rich, neither does AC. I know a friend who ventured into fish farming after graduation in 2012, as we speak now, he has over 12 workers. He sells fingerlings, Fresh and smoked catfish. He recently bought his second car worth 4million naira. Even Davido said it "Life is all about the MONEY" Just be focused and "blow" and all the "shuma" will come to your farm. Believe me!

I'm in a private school.. no space to farm.

Yes I would. Poultry, cash crops and other farm animals will be exciting

So in spite the growing number of University of Agriculture; Faculties of Agriculture, Agricultural Departments, Agric Sciences, etc, some people still see Agric as a DIRTY JOB for the POOR?

And these categories of people would still cat walk to mallams to buy 3 seeds of tomatoes for N300 out of their meagre monthly salary?

Out of these meagre salaries, some of you pay about N800 DAILY to Danfo Drivers, and you still call them JOBLESS, POOR, DIRTY?
