mimini: Is this what you're talking about? Pic 1: Screeded wall (the white upper part is Screeded with POP) Pic 2: Ordinary emulsion paint on wall. Pic 3: Screeded Wall at the porch Pic 4: Ordinary emulsion paint on porch wall No big deal. Just paint it! It should look like what you see in the pics attached. I'm not a fan of silk, satin, dansiki, Aran types of paints. Simple ones nicely used cut it for me. Brabus

mimini:Sure. You can apply ordinary emulsion on a screeded wall. It will come out well but not as nice as applying matte or silk/satin finish. Walls to be painted with ordinary emulsion doesn't necessarily need to be screeded, so far the plastering is good. The essence of screeding in the first instance is to provide a smooth layer on the wall to hide faults on the wall. High sheen paints highlight these faults, hence why screeding is done in anticipation of using these types of paint. Regular emulsion on the other hand covers faults on the wall, so far it's not too significant. Still it's a matter of preference and budget. But I would recommend at least matte emulsion if the problem is with sheen finish. PS: matte and silk paints have low to little fillers and give flatter and smoother finish. 1 Like |

beedam: I asked him the same question, on the previous page, below is his answer. I deduce that for one reason or another, the Client fell-out with the Contractor (Brabus) and the new contractor engaged (or DIY) did not implement these recommendations to the letter...... at the initial stage when it mattered mos and could have been cost-effective...IMO n3xt: Lastpage! |

mufutau55: All we need is the tools and thinking outside the box. Naturally, I prefer Nigerian made iron door(durability) unlike the imported doors that fade out colours with time and the hinge having problem . saw some beautiful irons at Challenge area in Ibadan. I will take permission from the maker so I can take pics and post here. |

@ beedam, it is well! Much respect to you for your concern. I'm always ever ready to do my job even though I've restricted my service to areas within my jurisdiction. I can still do this one for Qc1 if he really wants me in. That's the way I function best. That's the way we did the last job done on the site. He called me. I visited and proffered instant solution. We agreed figures and men move in and apply the fix. It's that easy. Brabus just need to do things differently going forward. Part of the things I'm doing differently includes not "gate crashing" another man's property even though I have the right to jump the fence. It also includes having jobs descriptions clearly spelt out to remove any ambiguities. Lastly, it includes talking the business more serious than ever before. Brabus 2 Likes |

Qc1: Baba, even when they move 99.9% of them still come back behind close doors to seek one help or the other. They won't tell you that! Even a true professional will seek a case file or a patient medical records prior to treatment of a major ailment because most time misdiagnosis is a big killer than the actual ailment. When you don't have a case file to work with, you can only assume. Thank you for all the good time. Wishing you all the best sir. I pray for a good and lasting solution. If you ever need me, I'm just at the other side of the river. Brabus. |

abbeycial: Did double wall on my site too. Your soil looks similar to mine and was said to be mud I did monolithic slab but can see it not being necessary always. |
Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by abbeycial: 3:16pm On May 24, 2016 |
EgunMogaji: yes sir, that part with double wall was sloppy compared to the other areas.(the land was a sloppy one so i was advised to double the sloppy part) dont really understand the monolithic slab u mentioned above bro, whats the lay man meaning? 1 Like |

abbeycial:Sir your double wall is of no important, you should have carryout systematic parameter beam, your application of columns good job. If your pad foundation is below the mud soil profile you did a good job, but not many people understand, instead they look at nos of block that will be required which is not a good idea. 1 Like
