…As Boroh moves to creeks to appease aggrieved militants
By Soni Daniel

Abuja- The Federal Government has moved to end the destruction of oil facilities by aggrieved Niger Delta militants in the oil-rich region of the country with a strategic meeting with some militant leaders in Abuja, as a first step.

The Federal Government team that met with over 50 militant leaders in Abuja for most part of Wednesday at the Transcorp Hilton, included the National Security Adviser, Major-General Babagana Monguno (rtd)., Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachukwu, Niger Delta Minister, Pastor Uguru Usani Uguru and the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta, Brig-Gen. Paul Boroh, (Rtd).

Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, was also at the meeting but left after a brief discussion with those in attendance.
Similarly, the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta, Brig. Gen. Paul Boroh, has relocated from Abuja to the troubled region to hold discussions with the militants to sheath their sword and embrace peace.

The Presidential adviser moved from Abuja on Thursday to be able to meet with some of the aggrieved Niger Delta leaders in Delta, Rivers, Edo, Bayelsa between today and the weekend before moving to the other oil-bearing states for similar discussions.

“The whole aim of my relocation to the Niger Delta creeks is to enable me to identify the aggrieved individuals and groups and hold extensive discussions with them on the need to keep the peace since the government is working hard to put things right in the Niger Delta and other parts of Nigeria,” the Presidential Amnesty Programme Coordinator, said last night.

From available records, the Federal Government has not reneged on its amnesty package to the region and is working hard to improve the infrastructural needs of the Niger Delta, one of them being the Calabar-Lagos Coastal Railway which is already captured in this year’s budget.

The central message passed down to the Niger Delta elements by the Federal Government team, was for them to stop further destruction of critical government oil assets but to seek peaceful means of expressing their grievances.
Kachikwu, who addressed the Niger Delta leaders drawn the oil-bearing communities, said it was imperative for the perpetrators of the bombing of oil facilities to realize that such actions were inimical to the country and its people.

“Nobody benefits from any destruction and we need to stop anything that can lead to the destruction of lives and the environment,” Kachukwu said.

“The Federal Government will continue to take steps to ensure that the issues agitating the minds of the people are genuinely addressed for the overall interest of all.”
It will be recalled that the blowing up of oil facilities has intensified in recent weeks, cutting off Nigeria’s oil output by nearly 700,000 barrels per day.

The development has also pushed up oil prices in the international market.

One thing buhari should know is that he cannot bite the hands that feeds him and his family. he should be humble and negotiate with this guys and look into why they are acting the way they are doing.

They must think these new breed of freedom fighters can be given stipends as bribe.

The Avengers are anonymous and yet to open a channel to negotiate any of their listed terms with the government of the 97%.

We are watching.

Oil will destroy that country.
For the over 50 years since oil was discovered, it has been a tale of woe ; greed, corruption, lawlessness and mass impoverishment.

It will take a miracle to get that country out of the rot.
I personally insist that oil should be treated as if it was there.
Maybe then, States and LGA will start taxing their citizens to provide services.
Maybe then, citizens will start demanding accountability

Vanguard, the official newspaper of the Ugandans. Trust vanguard at your own risk. Niger delta avengers are terrorists and they will be given terrorist treatment. Simple.

I thought he said he will clamp down on the perpetrators of the bombings and bring them to justice and some people were even boasting on this forum that Buhari will flush Niger delta to the brim. Him for try am see if the government will not be grounded for lack of funds resulting from low or no oil production. It hurts that the country derives it major earning from Niger delta yet parasites will be making noise all over the place.

Wonder what's the real problem of this guys.
Even some youths in some communities are okay with the land they are selling.

The NDA is actually organized and sensible. The fact that they don't kill or kidnap innocent people in their fight has endeared people like me to them. the government also wasn't expecting them to be aware of the strategic installations to blow up. anyway in this kind of situation the government has to soft pedal and listen to them.

1) it is their land
2) it is their oil

so why shouldn't they have a say over it? Moreover we have useless leaders that have misused the oil resources leaving the people to suffer ontop so much God given wealth.

This is one of the Ugandans that keep asking others to be courteous with their comments. "Nasty children of hate" indeed. What a rare display of courtesy from an old friend. grin

Every region must govern it self. Avengers are freedom fighters.

This is a struggle for JUSTICE LIBERTY FREEDOM. Words that don't mean much to the 'peace at any cost' 'we welcome our second class citizenship' Nigerians.

In 2016 no man or woman on this earth should be a slave to others. No one should be compelled to live in inhumane union because of fear of genocide.

Africa is one of the last places on this earth where people are still in bondage.

At the end of the day British colonialism of Nigeria was more humane than today's Hausa Fulani internal colonialism.

The dullard only attends properly to issues only when he's about to be drowned. Think about low IQ, Buhari is low IQ personified. How about crushing avengers, is he tired? We advised him that military won't work, he went ahead with a fight he couldn't even scratch his opponent.

And the zombies, they will always support him. If buhari says crush, they all shout crush. If he says let's make peace, they will say this is the best option. Buhari supporters are the most pitiable set people presently roaming planet earth.

Great move. Hopefully we can work things out with our aggrieved SS brothers and stop this wanton destruction. we need oil revenue now more than ever.

Lets support this government. I have this gut feeling they wil deliver.

God bless PMB/Osinbajo/Kachikwu.

You sounded pained. But you must know that this same oil you are talking nonsense about, will play a major role in funding buhari's budget.

They say buhari is the new sheriff that want to fix Nigeria. Now the avengers have their agendas, and one of their agendas is for buhari to probe the allocations of the oil blocs in the niger delta. Is that too much for the new fearless sheriff to do? Why not start from there. I believe the probe will profit the government the more, cos those illegal allocations during abacha's regime will go back to the government.
