The Niger Delta Avengers And Economic Terrorism -koboko69 by koboko69: 5:50pm On May 30, 2016 |
What is Economic terrorism? The term economic terrorism or financial terrorism is strictly defined to indicate an attempt at economic destabilization by a group. Economic terrorism is defined in the following terms: Contrary to "economic warfare" which is undertaken by states against other states, "economic terrorism" would be undertaken by transnational or non-state actors. This could entail varied, coordinated and sophisticated or massive destabilizing actions in order to disrupt the economic and financial stability of a state, a group of states or a society (such as market oriented western societies or economies) or a trading exchange for ideological, monetary or religious motives. These actions, if undertaken, may be violent or not. They could have either immediate effects or carry psychological effects which in turn have economic consequences Impacts of Economic Terrorism on Supply Chains Terroristic attacks against ports and land borders, crude and gas pipelines cause extra measures to be implemented to ensure the safe arrival of the product. These measures force the cost of exporting and importing goods to increase. Emerging economies are the most affected, because the slowing of exports and imports will affect the country’s ability to combat poverty. An increase in poverty can cause revolts among the population and possible political destabilization, forcing an even greater increase in poverty. Government Response To counter piracy, and pipeline vadalism, governments and maritime industries must take preventative measures. The United States Maritime Administration says “These actions may include a larger military presence in high-risk areas, rerouting ships to bypass the Gulf of Aden, paying higher insurance premiums, hiring private security guards, and installing non-lethal deterrent equipment.” The cost of these preventative measures is passed on to consumers and tax payers, ultimately directing money away from other areas of the economy References https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_terrorism Roundtable on 'Economic Terrorism'. Geneva Centre for Security Policy https://web.archive.org/web/20070927104321/http://www.gcsp.ch/e/meetings/Security_Challenges/CIP/Economic%20Terrorism%20roundtable/programme.pdf Amy Zalman, Economic Impact of Terrorism and the September 11 Attacks http://terrorism.about.com/od/issuestrends/a/EconomicImpact.htm The Niger Delta Avengers In relation to the above on Econmic Terrorism, it is point blank clear that the Niger Delta Avengers are Economic terrorists. It is not abnormal to see heavy military presense in high-risk areas that inhabits key Economic facilities as these are areas proned to attacks by saboteurs. It should also be noted that these group have also engaged security agents including armed soldiers killing some of them. It is therefore imperative that communities habouring these criminals give them up willingly or by force. No group will be allowed to hold the Federal Reuplic of Nigeria to Rasome. Dialogue Option Some group of individuals mistake dialogue for cowardice, but this is an ignorant assertion. While the Federal government is opened for negotiations, military operations can keep going on except there is a "cease fire agreement" between both aggrieved parties. A Cease fire agreement in this case will mean the militants stop bombing pipelines while the military step down its operations against them. Even countries at war negotiate while bombings are going on. The FG have shown interests in dialogue, hopefully there will be a truce soon. Hypocrisy It is hypocrisy to scream foul when the government open negotiations with BokoHaram while u turn around and attack same Government, urging them to negotiate with the Avengers and step down its military operations. A TERRORIST IS A TERRORIST irrespective of their modus operandi. Soldiers killed by the Avengers are also human beings that have families and not demi gods. Some Northeners attacked the government against military operations in the North East in the early days of BokoHaram, which led to a step down on military operations against BH. Today BokoHaram have grown to be a monster prompting the same Northeners that were attacking the government to mobilise and now have the civilian JTF working hand in hand with the Federal Forces to root out these terrorists out. The government can therefore not make the same costly mistake. The community leaders and youths where these criminals operates should work hand in hand with security forces to root out them out. To keep Nigeria one is a task that must be done! God bless the Nigeria God bless Niger Delta 2 Likes 1 Share |

This is exactly why they will be flattened. If fearless Boko Haram militants that love death could be defeated...what more lily livered criminals that love life, wine and women? Nigeria cannot be blackmailed, especially not with violence. 2 Likes |

koboko69: These people that love women so much has reduced Nigeria's oil output from 2.2m -1.1mbpd in less than 4 momths and you are still onling ranting!! This was the same way people like you encouraged Buhari to go after tompolo as "the new sherriff in town" even when people like us warned about such a venture!! Today see where we are!! The use of force will NEVER resolve this crisis!! Buhari should swallow his pride and make peace with tompolo so that all this can end |

koboko69:A pig can never be separated from scum. Even when you put it in a sterilised environment, it will shiit and then roll over its shiit for the heck of it. What you said in your article is the absolute truth. A terrorist is a terrorist whether religious or economic. The NDA is a terrorist group and must be treated as such. 1 Like 1 Share |

@op ,why is it that you guys use America to sight example only when it suits your purpose.America operates the same presidential system of government like Nigeria but in America states don't go to Washington every month to share money sourced from other states. you don't take money from the Oil fields of Texas to go and develops other areas at the detriment of Texas and Texans . I can go on on the real economic terrorists are the ones who have taken much and have given little . I believe there is a reason why God blessed the north with vast acres of arable land and put the ND people in swamps, marshes and mangroves.God did not make mistake |

koboko69:Are you not the one that quoted American maritime admin on their method for dealing with economic terrorism in your write Up? yes America as a country doesn't have oil as its source of income rather all the federating states have their individual local source of income.Texas economy is based on its oil fields.Houston was built solely from oil. |

overall90: Oga u accused me of using America as an example, whereas u are doing the same thing. Democracy as been in existence for about 17 years now. PDP ruled for 16 good years and could not diversify the economy, why do u expect automatic diversification in 1 year?. This guys were silent for how many years now, cos they were seeing free money. Non of them actually developed the Niger Delta with the money, yet you that have not seen a dyme push them on. What kind of foolishness is this. If u think the Avengers are actually fighting for ND, then u should check yourself. Jonathan was there for 5 yrs +, what exactly was his impact? He couldn't even clean up ogoni land. Even otuoke does not have good water. We should hold our governors accountable for the underdevelopment of our states. Imagine Bayelsa can not even pay salary, a state with just about 8 local govts, despite 13% collected from the govt. |
