Good points.I agree with U. I have little reservations for ur expectation of First Degree knowledge-its exaggerated.Even with appropriate exposure in Mech Engr and financial capacity, U cant still set up an automobile manufacturing coy except ua specially talented/innovative.A graduate Doctor cant still handle some complex but GOPD cases, not because he's not brilliant.Hes got to learn!Capital&innovative entrepreneurs are meant for the rich everywia! However,an SME can participate by specializing in manufacturing bolts or nut required for assembling generators or automobile..I mean fragmentation of production stages, handled by different coy for a bigger coy..This u still need exposure and vocational programs.. Don't forget,Govt shud improve amenities and review policies.. In this write up,sir what is d place of a friend who studied Political Science in school?Lol..Gud job bros |

Heijay: Thanks sir. Am not saying that a graduate mechanical engineering should/must manufacture cars. What am saying is that in advanced countries, engineering graduates are not regarded as poorly trained, unemployable, unskilled and disadvantaged like Nigerian graduates. Their students engage in yearly technological fairs where their inventions and innovative products are being displayed. They are always contributing to technological growth of their countries unlike Nig where engineering graduates are regarded as novices because they know little or nothing more than the theoretical aspect of their jobs. Pls do you know the history of SILICON VALLEY in USA, pls try Google it. Graduates of Stamford university in US developed it, and today we have HP laptops and many other products Let's plan to massively train our undergraduates as well as our post graduate students. Am not ruling out vocational training in Nig, my point remains it is not a viable tool at revamping the economy. We need to grov innovative entrepreneurs as is is done indeveloped nati |

Hmmmm, op is obviously very brilliant and smart. however, I dnt think you really understand wat "entrepreneur" is. An individual with a great entrepreneurial mindset can build an empire from the production of chin -chin, pop corn, moi - moi , bread etc. FAMOUS TFC, QUEENS MEAL BREAD ETC ARE FEW XAMPLES. Note: all your points are very right but all those adjustment can only start manifesting in the long - run but we need to start from somewhere , if traditional/conditional entrepreneurship can reduce unemployment and poverty in the short run then let's embrace it and work towards t advanced and modern form of entrepreneurship that can completely develop our country . 2 Likes |

as a prospecting chemical engineer in my undergraduate days, i carried out a research on alternative energy source in which i streamlined my work on the estimation of emission of biogas from waste dumpsites in portharcourt, and also its use as domestic fuel. i discoverred that the amount of methane emitted from just one dumpsite in a year can provide enough domestic fuel for every home in portharcourt for a quarter of a year, if properly harnessed. its been 2years i sent my findings to the appropriate ministries and am yet to be contacted 1 Like |

1b8m: bro; my advice to u is to go for MSc Prog in renewable energy. Pls dont wait for Nig. A brother I knew far back in 2008 powered a generetor set with biogas generated from dried spear grass. He was working in a renowned research institute in Nigeria, unfortunately, his effort was fraustrated in Nigeria, so he had to go to scotland for his MSc in renewable energy. You can make a trial, you might even get a scholarship, God bless you |

1b8m: thanks. I have sent the article to Punch, Guardian, Sahara reporters, Premium Times. Thay have all refused to publish it. The major problem of Nigeria is change. They hate positive change. A post like this ought to have hit the front page, just dont know why it has not. Anyway, the article is already on some (5) blogs . Log on to google and type the topic 'entrpreneurship is a scam' you'll get the links. I appreciate |

hayzed1090: i dont think I want to understand your own explaination of entrepreneurship. Some countries sell wheat/flour, sugar, rice, frozen fish, steel, textile, furniture, so we import all cos we lack the production technology of these items. I will support your entrepreneurship if they can provide all these. How will conditional and traditional enrepreneurship help solve power generation, transmission and distribution problems? How will it help tap our bitumen resource (second largest reserve in the world, lying in Ondo state)? I can go on and on. Do you know we have been practicing this lame practice for about 30 yrs and we've got nothing from it? Ok entrpreneurship and vocational education is what SAP of 1986 brought to us. If conditional and traditional entrpreneurship can help solve poverty, we would have solved poverty problem over 20 yrs ago. |

If conditional and traditional entrpreneurship can help solve poverty, we would have solved poverty problem over 20 yrs ago I dnt think there was emphasis on self employment 20yrs ago as it is now... development process can start by changing the mindset of graduates from been job searchers to job creators first and other things can follow. Am sure u understand the concept of economic growth and development. |

Nigerian universities are scam, Wasting your time in the university reading without acquiring skills will only endup with a good grade and a useless future. CGPA Is as useless as poo only scarce skills are the way forward for a better future. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

hayzed1090: A man can build a mud house and be a champion while another builds a 25 storey building. The difference is capability. Some nation trains her citizens to acquire technology in steel, tyre, rocket, electricity etc production. Another believes in business and anyhow business, with her citizens possessing primitive skills. I love the mindset of the OP. |

op the problem with your idea is that it's not original. We need to contrive an alternative solution that is unique to us as a people. Stop the follow follow mentality. Becos it worked for europe or asia doesnt mean it will work for africans. People of black african descent need to understand that a different set of rules applies to us in this age of white imperialism. The europeans used the massive wealth accumulated through 400 yrs of black enslavement(free labour) and then colonialism to invest in resaerch and development. The europeans and asians are cousins that's why the european willingly transfered capital and technology to asia. Have you asked yourself where is the market for prospective indeginous innovative products and services? Do you really think home grown products will be allowed to compete fairly in the global market? You cant beat these indoeuropean devils at their own game that's why we need to exit this global matrix of white supremacy and created our own game and rules. We the people of black african descent all over the world need to first tie our economies together before thinking of innovating stuff. No matter how innovative the product or service, without a ready market it's totally useless. |

fayahsoul: The only constant thing in life change. I believe in positive changes all the time. Am always optimistic, but I see your opinion as a pessimistic one. Pls go study history again and see out of about 54 African nations and see those who colonised 95% African nations, except England, France and Spain. So how did other European nations developed themselves without participating in colonisation? This is what you need to find out. Pls go read about first, second and third industrial revolutions. You buy made in Nigeria beans, onions, beef, pen, salt, and other commodities, what stops you and other Nigerians from buying other innovative products made in Nigeria? Until our orientation changes from reduction and rejection of imported products to locally manufactured ones, our economy CAN NEVER be bouyant. There is nothing superb about developed nations, they only invested in education and technology, we invested in tribalism, corruption, power and struggle. Believe it or not, I am working, others too are working to see that Nigeria changes for better. |
Re: Part 2. Entrepreneurship Is A Scam In Nigeria As Well As A Multiplier Of Poverty by fayahsoul: 1:37pm On Aug 15, 2016 |
oneolajire:More important than the unoriginality of your idea is the fact that it's base on the faulty and naive assumption that there indeed exists a global free and fair trade that is also colour blind. Until you fully understand white supremacy and everything it entails every other thing you think you know will only confuse you. Whatever developmental strategy we black africans plan to implement must include various ways and means of check mating indoeuropean obstruction and sabotage. These devils wont sit and watch us threaten the global status quo which have taken them centuries to establish and fortify. They will fight us with all their might to maintain their supremacy. And yes you rightly pointed out the self-hate and inferiority complex that we blacks possess as seen in our insatiable thirst for anything foreign. The cause of such maladaptive orientation can be traced to colonial indoctrinations of both past and present. More, the nigerian market alone cant nuture the type of technological development you have in mind. A global market is necessary. I am being pragmatically factual and not pessimistic. |
