1. Who recommended the antimalaria for you ? self medication or a doctor ?
2. how old is your baby?
3.The quantity of antimalaria drug that passes through the breastmilk is usually small.
4. for coartem. .it should only be given to babies that weigh like 5kg up
5. if your baby is close to that....then no p.

6 months 3 weeks is almost 7months.
I believe by now she would have started complementary feeding.
I don't think there should be cause for concern.
if at all you want to be thorough, You may breastfeed her like 4 -6 hours after you take it.
But generally there is no problem.
take enough water yourself to help flush the drugs too and your system.

what dose was given for your baby?

Well, that's just gangster...

Moral of the story: don't give your child anything that is not recommended by medical people with sound knowledge. And most teething mixtures ARE NOT RECOMMENDED....

...But people will never hear; we will still come here and read parents proudly saying "I am giving my child Piccan/Teething Mixture/Cough syrup/Antibiotics that were not prescribed/pouring all sorts of mixtures on baby's skin/Rubbing powder all over the child/making the baby swallow Agbo" etc and wonder later on what could be the problem. undecided

Meanwhile I've just given Baby E groundnuts for first time ever, so I'm sitting down watching to see if she reacts to it (we have some family allergens). And instead of her to learn how to walk, she's there mastering how to climb. She has climbed the couch and centre table today alone. How's LBK?

Sorry ma,is powder bad??

Thanks mama for ur prompt response, but wat do u mean by healing? Then again has anyone tried using sudocrem for something like dat, cos am not a fan of agbo n wld only resort to dat after all others fail.

If his skin is peeling, might be that he is healing,
Use the red acalypha plant, if he is fat baby, raise his neck and make sure you reach the folds when bathing and then make sure the folds are always dry.
Ela can be stubborn, you may need to see a doctor to get a lasting solution.

ehya. kpele.
I know how agonizing it is to watch our little ones suffer catarrh or any illness (my daughter had the cold recently)

1. I have reservations for silverbird. even though I hear other mothers say they use it....But it's eucalyptus oil which is recommended for children 2years and above.

2. please give them vitamin c drops. it will help boost their immune system. you too should take fruits rich in vit c like Apples so they can get it from the breastmilk (that is if you are breastfeeding )

3. If breastfeeding./formulafeeding...feed them more than you normally do. even if its small small quantity more times in a day . colds and cattarh causes loss of fluid. so they need to have replenishment which will also help thin out the mucus

4. do steaM inhalation for them morning and night. You have to be VERY careful while doing this one. since they are two you will need someone to assist you. cover their head with a towel and let them inhale the steam. they will cry well. But just let them inhale the steam for like 5minutes, to loosen up the ones in their chest ,so it can run out. .......another option if you have a heater in your bathroom....run the hot water and close the door and Windows of the bathroom so the bathroom will be steamy while you bath them , they will inhale it and it will help.

5. press hot water on their chest and back. be careful not to scald them.

6. take little mentholatum rub on their chest and feet before you dress them up. for dressing please cover them well. If they wear night suit, wear a vest for them under it. But watch the weather....If it becomes too hot, look for something light but not too light like a short sleeve and trouser.

7. please let where they stay be rid of dust. wash your hands and theirs regularly. and if anybody else is carrying them let the person maintain proper hygiene too.

8. catarrh has no drug. it will go when it is done. don't be tempted to give any drug (minus vit c). just do these to alleviate the symptoms.
your babies will be fine

got this online and decided to share.

Onions are excellent in the battle against chronic vomiting, due to its anti-inflammatory properties which boost the immune system.

This vegetable derives from the Allium family, meaning it is packed with sulfur which allows antiseptic and antibiotic influence on the body.

Alongside that, onions offer plenty of antioxidants like quercetin, relieving the body from free radicals and preserving its health. Onions can be easily juiced and consumed as such, helping with respiratory diseases because of its cleansing nature.

Furthermore onions can also be great for:

curing cardiovascular diseases
treating arthritis
regulating elevated cholesterol levels
helping with diabetes due to their sulfur and flavonoid content
Using Onions To Their Advantage

Even in prehistoric times, onions have been used as a remedy for treating countless diseases, and below you will find guides on how to make the most of this glorious product.

1. Colic – commonly used by the Cherokee Indians for treating children suffering from colic.

Recipe: Use slices of yellow onion and boil them in water. Let liquid cool off and drain it. Feed your infant with one teaspoon of the beverage every hour until symptoms fade.

2. Dissolve chest congestion

Recipe:  Mix one crushed onion and some coconut oil. Form a paste and use it to smear onto the chest. Secure paste with a towel on top of it and put on a shirt. Keep it until warm, and then remove towel and rinse.

3. Ear infections and ear pain

Recipe:  Take chopped onion and place it inside a sock (the thinner, the better). Tie it up and place it on affected area. Secure sock with a hat or a headband. Remove after pain is gone.

4. Cough

Recipe: Peel a large onion and cut in two halves. Apply one tablespoon of brown sugar on each half and leave onion to rest for an hour. Eat the remedy and proceed with the treatment twice a day to eliminate cough.

5. Cuts

Use the transparent skin that every onion has to stop bleeding instantly. Also, you will get antiseptic benefits and protect the skin from harm.

6. Fever

Recipe: Slice onion into very thin pieces. Mix them with coconut oil and use this to massage the bottom of your feet. Place some slices of onion on the feet arches and secure them with cling wrap. Put on socks and leave onion overnight. This remedy is a great antioxidant as well.

7. Air purifier

Method: Place slices of onion in different house areas- this will enable air cleansing and destroy all bacteria and viruses inside your household.

8. Vomiting

Recipe: Cover one yellow or white onion with cheesecloth and squeeze out the juice from it. Prepare a cup of peppermint tea and let it cool off. Take two teaspoons of the onion juice.

After 5 minutes, take two teaspoons of the cold peppermint tea. Wait another for 5-10 minutes and sip from the onion juice again. Repeat treatment until symptoms fade. It takes about 20 minutes for the vomiting urges to go away.

You could also use onion in many different manners, including:

Rubbing onion onto skin to prevent insect bites
Rubbing onion onto scalp to accelerate hair growth
Placing onion in clothes as a protection against moths
Boiling and spraying onion juice to keep plants safe from pests and bugs
Cleaning clothes iron with slices of onion to prevent rusting
Using onion slices to clean and polish glass and copper objects
Massaging onion onto skin to avoid freckling
The WHO (World Health Organization) is a strong supporter in using onions in case of bronchitis, coughs, congestion, infections, colds and the flu.

What the Native Americans knew about the onion for centuries, we are just beginning to learn, but it is never too late to start being healthy. Take the knowledge you can get, learn from it, and apply it. It is as simple as that.

It causes respiratory issues because of its nature. Please search the thread, a lot of people came here and spoke about it and how their doctors advised them to go about not using powder.
