So I decided to share this, maybe this will give us a clear picture of the CBN's policy THE COMMON MAN’S GUIDE TO THE NEW FOREX POLICY, AS EXPLAINED BY A LOCAL BUTCHER The Governor of Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele, on the 15th of June announced a new foreign exchange policy called the “Automatic exchange mechanism of the exchange rate”. In simple terms, they are floating the Naira, which is a lot like throwing a floater into a swimming pool and not touching it, but allowing the movement of the water and the breeze decide where it goes. We tried to explain what the new forex policy means through the eyes of a local butcher, let us call him Forestus. Forestus buys cows, butchers them and sells to customers. But recently, the abattoir management decided that they want to make sure meat does not become expensive, so they decided to peg the price. Now the abattoir management is selling 10 cows per day, at a reduced price. This might sound like a good thing but those 10 cows are not enough for everyone. So scarcity ensues. Forestus decides to buy cows from another place. Some people that have up to 1000 cows start bringing them to the next compound to sell. Let us call that compound the BDC cattle market. But Abattoir with their I-too-know is saying that Forestus must sell at the price lower than he bought it. Forestus is like, you know what? So he just starts to give his meat to his wife to gjo and be selling to her friends at the ministry. So as they are watching AfricaMagic Yoruba and not doing any work, she’ll just be saying “I have meat for sale oh!” But you see, this thing abattoir is doing ehn!, the suvvring is too mush. No meat for butchers to sell. No meat for people to buy and use to eat jollof rice or egusi soup. This is the problem now; BDC has cow, but it is expensive. Abattoir doesn’t have enough cows, but it is cheap. After one year, the abattoir manager, Chief Godwin just says, “This thing is making people suffer sha.” So he listens to what abattoir people have been saying. Chief Godwin decides that he is going to take his hands off the price of cow to an extent, and let everybody start buying and selling as they like. When we asked Forestus what he thinks about this, he goes. Now everybody in BDC compound has moved back to the main abattoir. So much cows to sell. But you see, these cow sellers did not reduce the price of their animals. Shakara. But if Forestus wants to buy cow from Danladi who pegs his price at 100 thousand, and Balarabe in the next stall says it is 90 thousand, who will he buy from? Balarbe of course. Nobody will tell Danladi before he will know that he is supposed to reduce the price of his cows. Unless he doesn’t have sense. Very soon, all the cow sellers will abandon shakara, and since there are plenty cows and plenty options, the price of cow will have to reduce. And everybody can cook soup in peace. Just like tomato; when it was plenty in the market, 5 plums sold for 100 Naira. But when it became scarce, 5 plums became 600 naira. Forestus is not an economist, but he knows that the higher the supply of meat, the lower the price. Excess meat in the market, lower prices. Excess forex in the market, stronger buying power of the Naira. It might not be instant, but it will happen eventually. #Copied# Hope this helped. 3 Likes |

styles2009: All through my period of studies, I was never requested to provide 8k. My work contract was enough. Let me make this clear, u see those foreign office guys? sometimes they go against the lay down laws just to make things difficult. According to the law, when u are coming in from nija u must provide a block account which is able to take care of you for a year. When you are here already, during renewal you are suppose to show to them that you are able to pay your bills of which a work contract is just enough. I did BSc and Masters here and I was never asked to provide 8k for renewal. Thanks 8 Likes |

Someone should please put me through.. . I applied for msc program in TUM In order for them to make final decision they asked me to >please enter the title and the code/number of the course (lecture, seminar or project) on methods for the social sciences, verifiable by transcript of records. Note it is a separate sheet. I submitted some course code and tittle, hard copy to the school address Later I got this email from them.. . Dear Applicant, May I ask you for a description of the courses that you entered as the proof on methods for the social sciences. The titles do not explain any reference to the social sciences. Which methods were applied exactly? You can send the description as email attachment to this account. I replied the email.. I put the courses in MSword and the description, sent it to them. Later I received this mail from the program co-ordinator again Dear applicant, The document that you sent is unacceptable since it is not issued by your university. Furthermore the courses do not refer to methods of the social sciences. Kind regards. MY QUESTION NOW IS WHAT ARE THOSE COURSES THAT REFERS TO METHOD OF SOCIAL SCIENCES? Because the one I sent to them was not accepted, I sent project, professional seminar, industrial attachment and teaching practice. Which course should I pick from my transcript I will be traveling to my university this weekend to get the course description from HOD.because it must be issue with their letter head paper or so. Unlike foreign universities were they have their module description in the university website, naija institutions don't have. Am applying for Msc Research on Teaching and learning and I did bsc education as well. |

styles2009:Thank God you mentioned Hamburg, it would have been a big useless and misleading assumption also to think the same thing is obtainable outside your city. Let me give you an instance in Bavaria. There are so many places to live around Munich that would have been cheaper but the authority in these neighbouring cities are notorious for their strict extension policies. I know what I am saying because I have registered and lived in three different cities in Oberbayern. In Freising, where my campus is, if you like work in Shell and be the MD there, they can only extend according to the amount you have at the time of renewal. Meaning, 670 by whatever amount you have, if you like earn 8k a month, that's your business. Munich is just 20-30 minutes away, 1, you will have 2 years or 2 years plus extension and when you wanna renew, take any job contract at all or at least a few thousand bucks in your account and you are good to go. If I advise someone who would live in Freising based on what is obtainable in neighbouring Munich, I will definitely be misleading the person. 2 Likes |

New policy new policy new policy! It's just another term for devaluation. Owing to mismanagement and corruption, the country has no other choice but to devaluate. The problem is that, if the nation doesn't enforce accountability and steady development, the value of its currency will continue to drop and devaluation will always be our option. In the long run, more denairiation will eventually lead to increased hardship and finally collapse of the system. This is the simple maths. My fellow Germanairalanders, if you were able to raise 1.8m , run and fight to complete your requirements. God that has put this dream in you will empower you to the end. Dont just give up. You are so close. The men that failed this nation are still ruling us with impunity. Consequently, betterment might take a life time to become evident. We only have a life time. Should we then suffer for other people's rascalism? We are the change when we play right. PLAY YOUR ROLE BY SHUNNING EVIL AND DOING WHAT IS JUST. Team Winter. 3 Likes |

Help a brother on this issue. Hello Nairalanders, I applied online to a university in Germany and I've gone to the Fed Min of Education to get all my documents authenticated( SSCE, ND, HND certs as well as my SSCE ND and HND transcripts). in filling the online application they demanded that I attached evidence of previous academic studies records and at another point they demanded for my CV, professional courses so far acquired + educational histories. I have all these (IT placements, NYSC training, safety training course as well as my current work records) . However in one of their write ups on their web pages they stated that one should only attach educational records as they only assess educational certificates. I really want to know if I can still go ahead and attach the proofs of all records as contained in the application form itself or follow this their write up. Pls candid answers are expected. #Teamwinter |

dprinz99:Tut mir leid! Sadly, I don't think they will go with the old rate. It is one thing to instruct for a deduction, and another to actually bid for forex. I also think the banks had deliberately stalled some biding within the last fortnight, given the anticipated CBN announcement. Things will get clearer by next week sha. Whatever happens, you shall triumph. |

oboh24:firstly I want to comment on ur certification. I don't think German universities accept certification from any place other than notary public (law court) or more importantly the embassy am a living witness. So I advice u to send an email to the international office of the school to ascertain if they will recognise the stamp from the ministry or not or better still book appointment and go certify it in the embassy or go to high court and certify it. As of the documents to attach, I advise u attach all the documents that u think can increase ur chances of getting admitted.... U will not be penalised if u attach an unwanted document. Goodluck! |
