The Loko Oweko bridge was started in 2005. It was expected to be completed by 2007.

2016, we are still building the bridge.

It was not 'initiated' by GEJ.

The losers are praising PDPs 16 years failure and looting and stealing..

You just have to look back far enough. Obasanjo did start the bridge.

https://structurae.net/structures/benue-bridge

General Information

Beginning of works: 2005
Completion: 2007
Status: project phase
Project Type

Structure: Girder bridge
Function / usage: Road bridge
Location

Location: Oweto, Benue, Nigeria
Loko, Nassarawa, Nigeria
Crosses: Benue

Source: https://structurae.net/structures/benue-bridge

Thanks for the information that you dug up and shared with me.
What do you make of the fact that Obasanjo obviously did not pay for the construction hence it was not completed in 2007 as scheduled?
It was Jonathan who paid in 2013 allowing work to advance so much before his departure last year.

You forgot the part that the system collapse began b4 NDA began to do serious harm to the gas supply system, same system built by tge GEJ administration via the GAS REVOLUTION project. And it's quite funny & hypocritical that you folks are quick to absolve Fashola of the same issues (sabotage) you insulted GEJ over despite the fact that the later outperformed other administrations in the power sector reforms. Funny.

Between May 2015 and February 2016, Nigeria maintained a power average of 4,000MW.. The highest in our history.

The system collapse started on February 14, 2016 when the forcados gas pipeline was blown.

Forcados is responsible for most of our gas supply.

I am in the energy sector so I know a little about these things. Through out GEJ tenure, we barely got up to 2,500MW. What Gas revolution are you talking about

Most of the Nigerian plants couldn't get gas...

As regards power reform, OBJ laid the most important foundations but GEJ advanced it.

Fashola built the best bridge in nigerian9 and West Africa in less than 3 years, but the useless looting and stealing PDP couldn't complete a small and less sophisticated bridge in 16 years..

In Fashola and PMB we trust.

There's nothing difficult in it jare my brother, But it took your hero 6yrs without achieving anything in power sector, It took PDP 16yrs without achieving anything too.

GEJ achieved nothing....yet he:

1) built far more power stations than previous administrations COMBINED, thus increasing generated power from the paltry 1500MW of the OBJ years to 5000MW (highest till date) and installed capacity to 11,000MW. Thanks to him, Nigerians enjoyed more hours of power supply.

2) Modernized and expanded the transmission grid (new lines, new substations).

3)Built additional distribution substations across the nation

4) was responsible for the massive distribution and installation of stepdown transformers held at old PHCN facilities and the ports under Prof. Nebo's watch.

5)unbundled and privatized PHCN, thus eliminating govt inefficiencies and introducing private sector participation in the power sector.

6)Outsourcing of TCN's management to a reputable Canadian firm (Manitoba Power). Do note that the Canadians were the original builders of our power grid....thats before the military fvcked it all up.

7)initiated and implemented the Gas Revolution plan that ensured gas supplies to our gas fired power plants.

But hey, keep gulping the bullshyte coolaid being fed to you by the APC.

Wow....that must be a "major" feat...Let's forget the fact that a PDP governor also gave his state pretty much one of the BEST road network in the nation in his 1st 4 years (yeah, im referring to Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom) without any fuss or noise....but hey..

so... isn't it time we started translating from depending solemnly on power plants that rely on gas. I mean I feel fucking irritated well you make ppl think that getting stable electricity or energy is a fucking big deal. I knw of an engineering student that powered my hostel then with a fucking truck battery. We paid N500 per month for maintenance. The Bleep is so difficult in generating power when apple factories in China rely on solar energy to power their factories; Wtf is so difficult about generating power!

And u think alternatives take a day to complete? Nigeria isnt ur hostel my dear.. blame those that built gas reliant plants if at all u need to blame sum1 or rather blame the vandals...

Bros, we EXCEEDED the 4000MW mark under Prof. Barth Nnaji watch. Agreed we approached the 5000MW mark under PMB's watch briefly, BUT it occurred in the 1st 2-3 months of his administration, a CLEAR INDICATION that the administration and Nigerians were simply enjoying the fruits of the GEJ's administration hardwork in reforming power sector. It is the GEJ's administration that truly broke the jinx in the power sector.

We exceeded it once under GEJ... I am talking of general supply, it was poor.

Through the beginning of Buhari administration, the difference was increased gas supply which was not available for most of GEJ tenure even when gas was available. So i find it difficult to attribute that to GEJ

Campaign is over, stop rehashing campaign lines..

First of all, GEJ government deserves some credit but a lot of blame can be placed on them.

1. The reform of the Power Sector is OBJ's baby, all the laws and policy were formulated under OBJ. NIPP which is responsible for most of the new gas additions was started under OBJ.

2. Many of the gas projects launched by GEj were actually started by the OBJ administration. credit to both of them.. Y

3. The unbundling of the distribution companies was engulfed in corruption and is part of the problems, we face in the industry today. Most of the technical partners are not here and many of the DISCOs are under-capitalized.

4. Modernized what transmission grid... Have you read about the corruption scandal involving Manitoba and TCN: http://theeagleonline.com.ng/massive-fraud-at-manitoba-as-three-managers-earn-n75-1m-at-n395dollar-since-2012/

5. Bros, we are a long way from a gas revolution.

Yes for Ameachi..

Lagos light rail has not been abandoned but it has taken much longer than projected, which could be due to corruption...

I think there's a difference between what Government conceptualized the bridge and what Government actually awarded the contract to commence work.

For example, the Mambilla hydro project has been On paper for more than 20 years now.

The link shared clearly stats the contract was awarded in 2011/2012.

Of-course, It was re-awarded/renegotiated after a period of abandonment... New terms had to be developed for the project.

But it had been awarded before and expected to begin in 2005....

Nigeria: Power - Generation Capacity Hits 5,000 Mega Watts

By Abubakar Buba
In order to fast track the attainment of the 6,000 Mega Watts power generation target in Nigeria, Minister for Power Dr. Rilwan Olanrewaju Babalola said the current available generation capacity is 5,018MW.

According to him, the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) has the capacity to generate 3,955MW while the Independent Power Producers can generate 1,143MW.

Stop lying, GEJ did not build 1 single transformer and definitely any power station.

http://allafrica.com/stories/200903270565.html

And power generation under OBJ hit 5000MW so what rubbish GEJ are you talking about?

If it was 5000MW under OBJ, so why was it still 5000MW under GEJ?

You are obviously telling us GEJ did not add 1 single MW..

Must you people lie and peddle silly 419 rubbish?

The vandalism and sabotage leading to the power challenge are directly the fault of government just as the strong action and discipline of the government which has suppressed the islamic insurgency is to the credit of the government. By its actions it made one bad situation good and one good situation bad. It should not have terminated the surveillance contracts, it should not have reversed the amnesty program, it should not have hounded those that laid down arms. It was a bad call and the results are clear. It is now they see what Tompolo meant. He kept the Delta quiet. Now his exit has spawned a myriad of rebel groups. That is a leadership call and leadership failure.
