I think i prefer engineered wood flooring.

Laminates do degrade over time, if furniture is dragged on it, water damage as well or if something heavy drops on it and it has a gouge.
With proper wood flooring, every couple of years, you can sand it and lacquer it. Another lease of life without actually replacing the whole thing.
What I do not get is that despite the abundance of wood we have in nija, why dont we make proper wood flooring ?

Well from my own view I dont think this will be a wise choice, wood floor wont last in Nigeria cos of sand factor, if in the bedroom or private areas hmmm mayB.It would cost 2much to maintain as you just said, sanding and re finishing,do you realy want to have a re acurent expenditure on your flooring

Also, you need to be aware that there's imported EBM which you may not be able to differentiate from the real ones. EBM Nigeria won't sell you that but the boys in the village can do that if you don't know the difference.

To support your point, I dont think either engineered wood or laminate will last long with the kind of humidity we have in Naija.

This is why I insisted, the greatest challenge is sand.Our streets are not paved, sand will grind it, the smallest particles would form grinder.

A friend of mine with a house at cooperative villa told me he used wooden flooring. Even for the staircase he said. I have not seen it but this is what he told me. He said the wood used for the stairs was sourced in nija and then treated. He did import the remaining wood flooring.

Wood would also be a challenge with the way we fit doors. With tiles sharp sand and cement can be used to raise the level of the floor etc.

The reason for this section was to discuss property related issues and not personal issues. I believe we all are adults here and as such we should act like adults. If you have issues with people go meet the person and settle it. We all came here to learn about building and not to read personal issues. One of us should volunteer 10k, we bring in one of us who is good in burglary proof and then he builds it with pictures for us to see. Where is Muyesky? I can vote N10k for a sample window which will solve the 3 needs.
