This issue is being messed up by people taking extreme positions. Osun state govt set out to approve two designs of uniforms for schools. Ordinarily this shouldn't cause any uproar. Northern states have this policy. But in the case of osun mischief has taken over and misguided individuals have labelled one design Islamic and so must be opposed. Now, some Muslims are saying it is their fundamental right to wear the same design. You see what I call extremism by the opposing groups. This labelling should cease - two designs of school uniforms; you pick the design you like. Shikena! 1 Like |

mu2sa2:wrong there is a difference between being recognised and approved by a court of law and being socially acceptable. Nigeria is a secular state with fifle practicing different religions, the the moment you decide to recognise one by law you must do same for others. Shikena. Was any one sent away from school before for putting on Hijab? NO So why carry the stuff to court if mischief was not intended. This 'uselessness' was tried in Lagos Fashola trashed before all. If Muslims are to wear Hijabs by law then Olumba Olumba too must wear there own. 15 Likes |

There is something that amuses me about this hijab issue. I ve been seeing pictures of prominent Muslim women in Nigeria like Buhari's daughter, I have never sighted one wearing a hijab, does it mean that this hijab is for selected Muslim women. 23 Likes 1 Share |

I wonder when the issue of hijab has become a big wahala in the country... Ogbeni messed it up with his fanatical stance. Osun state belongs to people of all faiths including Christians and muslims. It's really a sad development.. |

Gradually islamization is creeping but ppl don't get to c it yet. Hijab is your right, and the school also has a right on who dey admit or enforce uniforms they want...This is ST. CHARLES...Not St. Secular school or surajudeen ausarudeen Muslim college etc not a christian named schools. Who is sponsoring this? Your plans would fail! Muslims take every other religion for granted or as fools. 6 Likes |

Aregbesola denies ordering the use of hijab The governor of Osun State, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, has denied ordering use of Hijab by female Muslim students in the state public schools. Speaking at a public function in Osogbo, the state capital on Monday, he said neither his government nor himself ever gave such an order. Aregbesola challenged openly those accusing him of ordering the use of Hijab by Muslims to bring concrete proof to substantiate their “mischievous claims.” The governor challenged those accusing him of “plunging the state into religious crisis” to the present a video or voice recording, written speech as evidence. He maintained that all his programmes on education re-branding are the resolutions that came out of the education summit organised by his administration shortly after coming into office. Aregbesola noted that the resolution of the summit headed by the Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, never considered nor recommended any religion. According to him: “There is nothing religious in any of our policies. The fact on ground contradicts our opposition’s claim. The choice of my deputy governor tells it all, I knew she is Pentecostal of the highest order before I picked her. Everything we have done in the line of education is in line with the resolution of our education summit. “Against all speculations, I have not ordered the use of Hijab, I challenge anybody with evidence to come out and show that I have made a proclamation on Hijab. “If I have permitted Hijab will the muslim have gone to court to challenge it, is that not contradictory?. Is it a crime that I am a Muslim, is it because I struggle to be a good Muslim that everything I do is being misunderstood? I think I don’t deserve all these lies against me.” http://thenationonlineng.net/aregbesola-denies-ordering-use-of-hijab-in-schools/ |
