Despite being vilified for selective graft war and facing possible removal by some influential presidential aides, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, has said that he is ready to prosecute the war to the end and give the nation a new lease of life. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/money-laundering-well-soon-go-bank-mds-magu-efcc-chair-2/ 3 Likes |

This is long over due. The Banking System needs to be sanitized. Most Banks, especially the top Management, have been active collaborators in money laundering, economic saboteurs committing treasonable felony offence against the State. Their should be a very heavy penalty on any Bank that is actively laundering money for politicians, looters, yam eaters, drug traffickers, yahoo boys etc, as it is being done in other parts of the world. Some Banks should be made scapegoats to serve as deterrent to others. 6 Likes |

“There is no sacred cow as far as this fight against corruption is concerned. We will go after anybody who has committed an offence. We will collect the money back, so that it will go back to the treasury and be used for the original purposes. The part is an obvious, bare faced lie. How come only PDP members and those APC members who are in the prrsidency's black book(Saraki et al) are being prosecuted. Can the Efcc chairman honestly say that Amaechi did not embezzle any money while he was governor of Rivers state? Efcc is prosecuting corrupt people, no doubt about that but that they are not being selective in their prosecution would be a big lie. 1 Like |

chocolateme: Fighting corruption and money laundering first, is fundamental before any development can be achieved. Or else, it is the corruption you refuse to fight first that will ensure shoddy construction or even no construction of awarded roads are done, it will turn your hospitals to slaughter slabs and mortuaries, it will turn your schools and educational system to cult breeding school and examination miracle centres, etc. Anti-corruption fight will bring sanity into the system and you can start developing organically afterwards. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

I'm going to assume that you didn't see the separate petitions to the efcc against fashola and amaechi; they were published in the papers. So yes, the efcc has been petitioned about two former apc governors. Therefore, having ignored said petitions- the ones that we know of, mind you- the efcc's silence is a damning verdict of their one-sided fight. Also, fashola's use of public funds for his self-named website, as well as the publication of inflated contracts under him by the lagos state govt are more than enough to have had him arrested. I hope this clears the air. SuperS1Panther: |

[quote author=adeaks post=46910804] The part is an obvious, bare faced lie. How come only PDP members and those APC members who are in the prrsidency's black book(Saraki et al) are being prosecuted. Can the Efcc chairman honestly say that Amaechi did not embezzle any money while he was governor of Rivers state? What baffles me is how Igbos are quick to mention Amaechi in every corruption topic but failed to mention people like T.A Orji that have nothing to show for being governor for 8yrs. The hatred for Amaechi is becoming annoying and that's the more reason why PMB may want to shield him because whatever vilification he attracts now I s because he threw his weight behind PMB and against the 'hero'. This shows that if you people had the chance, Amaechi would've long been thrown into the prison whether he's guilty or not. But the ways of God are not the ways of man. I'm not saying Amaechi shouldn't be prosecuted (because I know he isn't clean) but I'm saying it is wrong to make him the face of corruption. The former governor of my state (delta) left a debt of over #600b (according to the incumbent governor who's in the same party with him) and without projects on ground to justify it, not to mention that workers were still being owed when he left, and yet people like you don't mention him. |
