Messi can only have himself to blame for his national team woes. He's an icon in the world of football with a very high level of control and authority. He knows how he's been used to achieve success in Barcelona, why did he stick to the midfield role for the national team knowing fully the havocs the useless players upfront have done in times past? Di maria, Aguero, Palacio and Higuain have all failed to deliver when it mattered most, and these same players have always been played upfront with Messi playing behind them. Is that how it worked for him in Barcelona? No! Why can't he insist on player upfront where he can decide things himself rather than passing to a certain Higuain who has sworn never to do well in the finals?
