Congrats to the mamas that have just recently put to bed and to those who have celebrated birthdays and wedding anniversaries. May our sources of joy never turn to sorrow. Team December, I think we are due for a roll call. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and now consistently taking their medications? Some of us have been really quiet, hope we are doing okay? Whenever you can, please check in here and be more active. The Lord is our strength. We should approximately be in our 18th, 17th, 16th and 15th weeks now. How time flies, just like yesterday when we got our BFPs! Some of us may even have bumps to flaunt now. God is really faithful. My Birth Story!!! Episode 1 My EDD was July 16th but due to the baby's weight and several discomfort, i've always been praying for an early birth. I wished to give birth when i'm 37/38 weeks, at least by then i knew i'll be full term. My pregnancy journey wasn't smooth. I was spitting non-stop and dealing with nausea from 7 weeks till delivery. It was really tiring. Early 2nd trimester, i ate our native food, owo soup. The next day i started having mild contractions that were 3mins apart. That's when i was advised on this thread to stay away from the soup since it has potash. And i did. The contractions stopped the next day and all was fine. Fast forward to 34 weeks, i started having braxton hicks. At 35 weeks it became more intense and frequent. There was a day i had sharp severe pain in my vjay. It was coming every 2mins. I was also having lower abdominal cramp. I went to see my doc the next day and he said with the signs i'm experiencing, my baby will come soon. Probably in two or three weeks. Most persons i told didnt believe that i will go into labor naturally before 38 weeks since i'm a first time mum. But i always had this feeling that it will be a cake-walk for me to fall into labor. On Tuesday, i went for a scan to be sure all is well with my Hansel. The sonographer showed me my cervix and we could see that baby's head was already almost fully engaged. He also showed me that my cervix is wide enough for his head to pass through. I was so excited. I just couldn't to see my Hansel and know what it feels to be a mother. I told dh that baby might come in a week's time. He said by weekend, we'll start preparing our minds. I already downloaded contraction timer in my phone, practiced relaxation exercises, got some relaxation music and also a hot water bottle to help ease the back pain when i'm in labor. I was mentally preparing myself for labor. I say, the hospital go hear am. I was pretty confident that i'll make labor very easy for myself. All these while, i was still having intense braxton hicks, though bearable. When we got back from the scan center, i made our native soup and added potash. I knew it triggered my contractions before so i assumed it will help bring on real contractions. I also ate some pineapples. sugah: I used the palmistry method.(use it if you have already given birth to your first issue.) I will give it a rate of 80% correct. Here we go : On the right palm of your 1st kid, if the head line and the life line meets together, it's shows your next kid will be the opposite Sex of your 1st kid. But if the two lines doesn't meet, it means your next kid will be same Sex as your 1st. Note : most times, In cases of miscarriages or abortions, I dunno whether it will work. My Birth Story - Episode 2 The next day was antenatal and that morning, Britney Stacy was yabbing me (Lol), so i told dh i want to start trekking to ANC. He said this one you want to start trekking, don't go into labor this week o. I said dont worry, if i start trekking now, it might take a week before labor will start. Because i was a bit late, i rushed to ANC without eating. I only took two spoons of rice and trekked for 30mins to the hospital. Dh too went out and promised to be back before evening. When it was my turn to see the doc, the midwife was doing palpitation and measuring my stomach and then she whispered sth to the doctor. The doctor stood up and said "Nah, are you sure? How can it be?" I said what is wrong? No one answered me. They kept touching the stomach for minutes. Then he said it looks like your baby is oblique. The head is not directly facing the cervix anymore. I showed him the scan result i did the previous day and it said cephalic position. My baby has always been in cephalic position, so what happened? He said he doesn't understand. And then he said, "Take off your shorts, lie down, let me do a VE." Immediately he said VE, the first thing that came to my mind was Enkaydewdrop and her terrible VE experience. Fear catch me immediately! As he wore his gloves and was bringing his finger to my vjay, i just closed my legs. He said, "See this woman o. Are you sure you can endure labor pain?" I felt challenged and told him i need somebody's hand to hold. The midwife said i can hold her hand. So i grabbed it and was squeezing it while he was doing the VE. I'm sure she is still having pains in her wrist, because the way i squeezed her hand ehn? The VE wasn't really painful but i was anticipating terrible pain so i was just crying like a baby but screaming silently. As he was done, he said, "Have you been having contractions?". I said yes but anytime i come here, they say its braxton hicks and not real contractions becos its not painful and irregular. He said, "Call your husband to bring your things. You're already in labor. Midwife, prepare the labor ward and arrange a bed for her in the postnatal ward." Ghen ghen! It sounded like film trick to me. Labor? How come? Just like that? As i climbed down to wear my shorts, i saw part of my mucous plug on the examination table. Then it dawned on me that the D-day has come. I was already dilating and didnt know. When they checked, i was already 4cm dilated. So i had already been dilating for like two days, according to the midwife, and i didnt even know. So i called dh and asked him to drive down to the hospital so we can get my things. He started laughing and didn't believe me. I spent almost 2mins on the phone with him before i could convince him that its not a prank. Imagine. Lol 24 Likes 1 Share |

My Birth Story - Episode 3 It seems the VE stimulated the contractions and it started becoming intense. About 5mins apart. But it was bearable. We picked my things and we came back to the hospital by 2pm. Then i remembered i had not eaten. I asked for food and they said no food, i can only take tea. So i started sipping tea. And was even chatting with my friends. My friend asked me if i'm sure i'm in labor. I said yes now. The pain was bearable, contrary to my fear. By 3pm, they did another VE and i was 6cm dilated. The doc and nurses were impressed. I was taking the contraction's with ease. They were 3mins apart. I was breathing through everyone and listening to my relaxation music. Once the wave of pain hits me, i'll hold the bed tight till the contraction is over. Then i'll continue walking around. By 4pm, the contractions became 30 seconds apart and extremely painful. I was seeing stars. And you won't believe my dh was busy recording me with his phone. They checked again and i was 7cm dilated. Then the doc and nurses were preparing for a CS for another preggie mama upstairs, so they said i'll be fine. That my baby should be out by 6pm, looking at my progress. That news gave me hope. 6pm came, they checked, same 7cm. 8pm i was still 7cm. No back pain, no urge to poo, just the excruciating contraction pain. Then i started provoking for everybody. Dh came to rub my back and i pursued him. My friend came to rub it, i pushed her hand away. I wasn't having back pain. So that back massage was useless. All i wanted was to hear i'm 10cm dilated and ready to push. I started crying and begging the midwife and nurses to do something. I was losing strength. They gave me glucose and more tea, but i threw it up. I vomitted everything. A lady in the postnatal ward now came to ask me, "Madam abeg you get credit for your phone make i take call somebody?". I didnt answer her. I was dying in pains and snapping my fingers. She said, "Madam you hear me? Abeg help me make i call person for house make e bring food for me, i forget my phone." I wanted to pounce on her. How can u be asking for a favor from someone in serious labor pains. I was so pissed. And when dh came in, i told him to warn that lady not to talk to me. 10pm, another painful VE. I was still 7cm. 12am, yet another painful VE. I was still 7cm. I started crawling on the floor, crying profusely. The contractions were just 15 seconds apart. The doc came down, expecting to hear that my baby is out. He was so shocked to see me. He did yet another VE by himself. My vjay see suffer. Then he realized, i'm having obstructed labor. Baby's head was no longer engaged and in the cervix. Hence labor was no longer progressing. They checked baby's heartbeat all thru and it was still very strong. They decided to watch me for another two hours. Have you ever felt pain so bad and too much that your body becomes numb to the pain? I started losing my strength, and felt myself dozing off. I was falling asleep with the pain because i had endured it for too long that i couldnt cry anymore. 2am, they called dh and told him they have to do an emergency c-section, to avoid baby being in distress. He told me and i immediately agreed. All i wanted was for my baby to come out and the pain to stop. But because they just finished a surgery, they had to sterlize the theater which usually takes time and the nurses needed to rest a little. So i had to keep enduring the contractions for another 3 hours. By 5:30 am, i was taken to the theatre. When i was about to be given the anaesthesia, they said, "pls relax and try and bear the spinal injection i'm about to give you." I just sat like a statue. After what i just passed through, pain was nothing to me anymore. All the injections and IV i recieved, i didn't feel a thing neither did i react. I didn't even wince. By 5:50am on Thursday, my handsome prince Hansel came out wailing as if he was angry with the nurses for making his mummy go thru so much pain. I don't have any regrets at all. I'm willing to endure a million post-partum pain just for my boy. Now i know its possible to be contracting painlessly. Now i know its possible for your cervix to be dilating without your notice. Now i know to always expect anything in labor and keep an open mind, to avoid getting disappointed. I'm proud to bear the scar of love. Motherhood is awesome and i wish all waddling mothers safe delivery. And to our TTC mothers, you too shall share your birth story soon. Kisses all!  112 Likes 2 Shares |

mitchyy: Don't take it before eating. Make sure you eat something. I was also throwing up until I started eating before i took my prenatals. I am not a fan of pregnacare. There are other better brands out there. 1 Like |
