Very encouraging.
My question is what is your background?
Did you study Agriculture in school?
What basic knowledge does one need to start?
funny enough it didn't study any agricultural course as my first or second degree but from my uncle who has one of the biggest farms in benin city. Have you heard of ighodaro farms?

Good job sir we rarely see people like you on nairaland ,
But sir my question is how are you able to run this business from Netherlands or do you intend doing it full time here in nigeria and leaving the Netherlands permanently.
when I'm not in the country, my parents and siblings help me to see the day to day running of the business. I send money, journals, vaccines and recipes regularly home too.

That's impressive. It must be capital intensive. How did you begin ? The cost, feeding the chicks, and all ?
my startup capital was 500k. I was able to strike a deal with a family friend who was supplying me feeds. They were times I even got feeds on credit. A bag of feed was 2k then and I was buying 20 bags of feeds every week.

nive bro, am following you till eternity...at this moment your my mentor, i plan on setting up this business after my graduation an NYSC then i can manage it and also be doing my masters and then pre-degree...

please i like you educate us on the risk and problem yoy went through before it became this huge
you'll certainly suffer quite a huge percent if you're just starting. I lost a lot of birds when I first started. They were times that I was so helpless and troubled cos I was getting returns not to talk of cost of running the farm.

of course but I'll suggest you start small. That way you'll know the business and that way your losses will not be much.

No, I have not heard about the farm.
You must be very determined to be able to achieve what you have so far.

I have always loved poultry and I used to do it on a small scale, mostly for own consumptive.
I am sure you will be a source of motivation for many people who read your post.

Maybe it will be more beneficial to those interested if you will post some gist of how you started: budget, minimum space, materials, source/type of feeds, etc.
God bless your hands.

Bros, you realise 300X30 egg a day = 9000 eggs. How many birds lay 9000egg a day. I think they should be up ...

I started my farm in 2013 when I went to the Netherlands for my Master's degree with some money I was able to make working while studying. At first it was not easy I must admit. I started my farm with about 1000 birds. I had a lot more f moralities I won't lie but my dad who also has farm was able to put me through and I learned very fast too.

Today I can even boost of over 7,000 birds (Layers, Broilers, Turkeys and Some Day old chicks as well). I'm also currently constructing a fish pond and starting a tomatoes and onions plantation too. I get a minimum of 300 crates in a day.
sir edit that ur 300creates...for u to have 300creates daily u have to have our 1000layers

thanks very bad. I was inspired to start my own farm when I saw how the Netherlands give loans and grants to people who are interested in going into agriculture. They're even given land and seeds too. I'm even thinking of owing a farm here in the Netherlands.

OK thanks I'm about doing the same thing , but I'm not sure my parents can run it for me since they are also busy with work and business. I'm also travelling for my masters by January so I wanted to setup a a medium scale piggery poultry and snailery combined . So being able to manage it without someone chopping g me right now is my biggest challenge.
