So, on this fateful Friday night. I just dressed up with my dudes and for sure with Bae. We dey enter club(bays bar) coming from Big Quo through stadium, I was driving and I sped past Fidelity, Ecobank and Wema whose ATMS I supposed were all working due to the green blinking signal I saw while passing.
To cut a long story short. I withdrew 20k(1000 NGN bills) for the night's Grove and put in my back pocket but lo and behold. When I wanted to offset the bills for my order, omo, I gave the waitress 17 notes to cover for 2 bottles of black @ 8k each and 4 bottles of plastic coke @ 200NGN each and I was about telling the lucky abi unlucky waitress to keep the paltry 200NGN change. Before I could say ''ke... the babe just finished counting and said ''Oga ur money never complete oo. I was like '' confirm it again''. She recounted and said '' I have 15 thousand 200 here'' omo, I no fit shout.
One crook for ZENITH bulk room carefully slotted 2 miserable-looking 100NGN bills into a wad of 1K notes.
You needed to see the spontaneous change of mood. I come dey squeeze out more 1400 from my remaining 3k.

Atm machines are smart, it knows when it overpays, I was at an atm machine 2yrs ago to withdraw 5k but the atm paid me six, I was 110% sure I pressed 5k, I was happy say I don chop bank money, but I later received an alert of 6k, iwan cry

Hello Man, lay our complaint at that particular branch of union bank, your money is with them. You don't Av an issue with ecobank.

My experience was a case of the ATM making an OVERpayment to me!

It was a Sunday evening some years ago. I went to a FirstBank ATM located in a health facility in a town in the SouthWest. I took out the dispensed cash, together with the receipt issued and placed them inside a novel I was reading. I left to prepare for the office the following day. (By the way, I never think it is worth it to count cash dispensed by the ATM - most especially when the was not within the banking premises)

It was almost 9 pm when I had the cause to go examine the transaction I had in the hospital a few hours ago.
Lo and behold, I was overpaid! There was no doubt, as the notes were serially numbered

I typed out a letter of complaint that night which was addressed to the Manager.
I must have been among the "First Eleven" to enter the bank on Monday.
The Manager was shocked! He gave me an account No where to pay in the excess. I insisted my letter of complaint be received and acknowledged.

One can imagine my pleasant surprise when a delegation from the Bank later came to me with an appreciation letter from the Bank's Zonal office!

It was alleged that a mistake was made in loading the currency trays...
N200 being placed where N1,000 ought to be and vice versa. The delegation that came to ne also revealed that over N350,000 had been lost by the bank....

I await the Almighty Allah's blessings of old age to enable me show my grandchildren my letter of complaint of overpayment, and the subsequent letter of Appreciation from the Bank

Were they all N1,000 denominations? If not, it's possible N500 notes were loaded in N1,000 configured cassetes and the machine rdispense roobottly them as N1,000........most likely

It was N1000 notes

Last week, I was at Enugu for a wedding and wanted to buy something worth of N65,000 from market. I went to use my Ecobank ATM card on Union Bank ATM along Ziks Avenue. I withdrew N20,000 three times i.e. N60,000 and put it in my bag. On getting to the seller, I removed N5,000 from my wallet and added to the money I withdrew from ATM. After counting the money twice in my presence, he said that the money is N62,000. I counted it back myself and it was short of N3,000. I searched my bag again and nothing was left inside

I was sure of the N5,000 from my wallet, and so definitely the shortage was from the ATM. Having withdrawn three times and having a shortage of N3,000, It therefore means that I was paid N19,000 on every N20,000 withdrawn.

I couldn’t go back to the bank for complaint since it was ATM transaction and I have never experienced such.

Na so I lost N3k for this hardship

The machine probably has what is called dispenser and presenter fault hence the under dispensing. The branch probably would have noticed this before now. You need to make official complaint to the branch on a working day, bet me, they will give you the difference.

I was there just for a wedding on saturday and am back to Abuja. Maybe I will send email to both banks on Monday.

In February I went to the GTB bank in computer village Lagos, I wanted to collect money (from my gtb account) to buy a phone, I collected 60 thousand naira in two tranches of 40k and 20k.

When I handed the money to the cashier at the phone vendor the money was counted to be 59k. Mind you the money never left my sight. I searched my pockets and the floor all to no avail......That ATM shortchanged me.

Yes! In China. ATMs in China are notorious for padding withdrawals with counterfeit notes to the extent that all taxi drivers have UV bulbs in their cars to double check whatever payments they receive.

Hi... Next time, it's good u report such incidences... U could be saving someone's job. I'm sure that atm won't balance and they won't be able to trace where the excess is coming from.. ie d person who handles that atm will nau be doing guilder ultimate search finding money that is not his/her own
